V1 camera> put firmware on card. Shut off camera, insert card, hold down the setup//sync button, plug in the charging cable (while you are still holding down the button), hold for 15 seconds, leave charging cable in and turn it on. Lights should be blinking red/blue. Let it just sit for 5 min. Turn off camera, remove charging cable, turn camera back on. Check in the app to see if you have the new firmware. Takes a few minutes for the features to come up but this worked for me. Wyze customer service was useless and never once mentioned to do this when brand new cameras failed to update firmware. Said sorry and offered a gift card for $5 when these were brand new cameras still in the box that had never been used.
I finally updated the firmware after saying "NO" to the update for over 6 months now. I don't know why I gave in today but I did. It bricked my camera 10 seconds later.....I spoke with support and they said it was out of warranty and there was nothing that could be done......Thanks Wyze Cam!
I have 3 Wyze cam v1 that are broken bc of an bad update by them. They have a new update to fix it, but I need to flash the firmware... Surprise, its not working... So basically Wzye broke most Wyze V1 cam's forcing ppl to upgrade.. Way to go Wyze, you did it!!!
I had somewhat a similar experience. My one Wyzecam crashed after the attempt of some hackers tried to break in to the WYZE system. The hackers apparently got a hold of numerous WYZE clients info, but didn't get away too far. I later received an email from WYZE letting me know of the attempted break in, but that it was ok and none of the client's info had been affected, but my Wyzecam camera has been rendered useless, however. I was told that the broken camera could not be replaced because my camera was too old and it was out of warranty and that I would have to do a manual flash to the cam. Never mind that we've been WYZE customers for 6 years. I say that it's time to start looking for a different cam company. I said the same thing you did, "Thanx WYZE Cam!!

I just had this happen to my WyzeCam. Tried all the fixes they asked me to do. So after talking to customer care, they are sending my a replacement cam. They really do take care of you if you happen to have an issues. The best cam out there without a doubt.
I just received the replacement for my second pan camera which quit after 3 weeks. The replacement works except it won't record motion. Support has not helped as yet. On the forum I saw others having the same problem and were told it was a glitch in the most recent firmware. The first camera has always worked fine. This maybe the last one I buy. I also just received my Wyze Sense I preordered. Hoping it will work.

I come to find out that Wyze system had been hacked into. I was told that there was really nothing they could do because my Wyzecam was old, out of warranty and that because of this my cam couldn't be replaced. I'll add my experience here. I have a Wyze cam v2. I have been using it with a 256gb SD card without any issues Today I had this "yellow solid light of death" issue. Tried to flash it using that card several times, nothing happened. Then I remembered that FAT32 has issues in drives over 32GB (even though Wyze cam and my Windows/Ubuntu computers had no issue reading/writing to the 256GB card). Tried with a smaller card (8GB) and it worked!!
Mine was doing solid yellow light no matter what. and flashed my firmware and fixed it. one thing she did not explain was on v2 is after you copy the thing press setup button while ure pressing it u have to plug in the power cable and still hold the setup button until it becomes blue. good luck mate.
This fixed my solid yellow light which I think was caused by an interrupted firmware update. The .bin file is in the support section on the site. Yes, you have to purchase a big enough microSD card to flash the firmware (getting this done via USB didn't work), but having SD is pretty handy anyway. I didn't realize I hadn't one laying around, will use it in my (so far useless) dashcam.
have two v2 cameras I am trying to flash, following instructions i see a yellow light then it goes to the blue blinking light. I have let both devices sit for up to 30min, with no luck.

You'll need to set up the camera and app first! It sounds like you're resetting the camera by holding down that button, which means you need to add it as a new device in the app. Once the camera is set up and connected, you can update the camera using the app's Firmware Update option on the Account tab. My Pan Cam is over 5 year old. Still works like a charm. It was bricked this morning after it auto updated the firmware. This technique apparently resume the counting. :)
so when I hold the button and plug the wire I see solid yellow light and then after 6-7 sec I let the button go and then it starts flasing, does that means it is flashing the firmware? FIXED my V2 solid yellow light. 1) download latest firmware from site 2) copy bin to sd card 3) duplicate the file and name them "recovery_wcpv2.bin" and "demo.bin" -- i dont know which worked but one did 4) hold the reset button and plug the camera in (easier plugging into wall than in the back of the camera) I had to do this 3 times and it finally worked and came back to life.
I think the "recovery_wcpv2.bin" did the trick cause i had "demo.bin" in there by itself and it stayed yellow the whole time. I just follwed your direction and the light changed blue on the reset directions of holding reset button and plugging in camera. after about 1 min it has went back to solid yellow and i hear it click as if its resetting... waiting patiently for a change in lights.
This plus correcting user error were the only thing that worked for me. After 9+ hours of searching online and trying one thing after another, I landed here. I tried the same steps as the video only to realize that i missed the part where she said to copy the file over and not the entire unzipped folder. Even after correcting that mistake I was still only getting the yellow steady light on my v2. Following your steps and adding the second file "recovery_wcpv2.bin" worked on the first try! I put my sd card back in my v2, held down the setup button before plugging in the v2, plugged it in while still holding down the setup button, waited for 6 seconds and the yellow light turned blue. After that it was less than 2 minutes for the cam to finish setting up. The light blinks between blue and yellow then solid blue for a bit before switching to a blinking blue. Then it was ready to add to the app and all was good. Thank you so much for this tip!

Hi my wyze cameras camera was working fine then when on the app it asks me to update the firmware and as I was updating it never went back to working regularly it just stayed solid red light and when I try to restart it from the app it just kept saying. Camera not online but power was good .then I tried doing the micro card 32gthats comes with it and downloaded the firmware and pressed the button before turning power on, held for 6 sec then light turned purple but then instead if going solid light flashing it never turned back to normal and just stayed solid redlight. How can I fix this?
I could get only one camera to work, but for the other two cam, I kept getting a message telling that my other two cameras weren't connected to the my wifi, even tough the third camera was working. A couple of days after I received an email telling me the WYZE System had been hacked into. Wasn't aware of this at the time, but they informed me of what happened, by email, which I still have. Two of our cams went on the fritz, but only one came back and worked. When I got in touch with the WYZE support, and told them of the problem with the one cam, they told me that I would have to do a manual flash, on the none working camera. because none of the other things they suggested worked. I told them that I thought the glitch in my camera was brought on by the system being hacked into and that if felt that they should replace it. They said that they couldn't because it was out of warranty. We've been with them for 6 years! Right now, I'm not holding WYZE in a high concept.
@@eTeeGaming Hey I had some luck with mine. I used my SD card in my DSLR for a bit, which needed it to be formatted. After taking the photos off I dropped the demo.bin file on and it took it immediately. So even though I tried two cards, several ways of formatting them, and it would write files to it and play back videos, it had to be a very specific format. Additionally there was a lightning storm going on, so maybe it was some kind of curse or something and the goblin king will be coming for my first born child. But now I have a rtsp-friendly camera so I can keep an eye out for him.
@@siriusbusiness2351 I used another device to format it. I'm guessing the default was just fat32 and my computer was being an arse about it. Edit: Nikon guides say that some cameras format to fat16, it's possible that is what worked for me. Wyze does not seem to support exfat though so avoid that.
I tried flashing the firmware after renaming the demo.bin., installing in the root on an SD, inserted, held down reset button, and plugged it in. My light won't change after quite some time. Just yellow, not even a hint of blue. Now what? I also cant figure out if I have a Vi, 2 or 3, cause mine was never set up in the app. How do you find that out with the box or the data plate?

I've never had to slow down a video on youtube before to follow what someone was doing on a computer. Your clicking and dragging files all over the place and I can't follow what you are doing. SLOW DOWN
I have seen a lot of improvements in the last couple of weeks with the new firmware updates. my connection issues are now gone and the new features are good. one issue is the sensitivity for the motion detection seems to be off. i have it on the lowest setting and i get alerts. I look at the video and there is zero motion. this needs to be fixed. everything else is good. mine is version 1.

Are you saying that it is set at 1 and you are still receiving too many notifications? If you are still using the Low/Medium/High setting then I recommend checking in your app store for an update. :)
I have the latest android app. i ordered some version 2 cams so maybe it is better. Also, i just found the reorder feature. finally i can put the important cams on top. thanks and these videos are great. keep them coming

Presenter neglected to mention that the MicroSD **MUST BE** formatted as FAT or FAT32 before attempting to follow these instructions, if not formatted correctly, this will not/never work.
I know its a little dificult but after all morning trying to flash and dont throw agaist the wall the camera i could revive it, the ost important thing its that the sd card must be on fat32 for mac in my case ms-dos fat, it is an old format almost unused and that is because most of the time the firmware flashing doesnt work
Purchased the outdoor camera bundle, the base station didn’t work. Couldn’t connect to the internet. Was informed by support, Wyze having issues with their firmware. There going to send another base station, with a 50-50 chance it will work. It’s sad this company started in 2017….POOR PRODUCT. Send it back and getting company thats been around the block better than Wyze’s

I'm sending both my Wyze Cam Pans back for refunds. I can't deal with this nightmare of garbage firmware that malfunctions with each upgrade. Anybody reading this.....beware. Often people have to downgrade back to the old firmware to make the Cams work and since I don't have any tech background, I don't know what that entails. Either way, not worth it. Buy another brand!

I just purchased 3 pan cameras and the 1st one I setup had an issue with network errors...(wanted me to go to 360p) (long story short it was the latest firmware causing the issue... 4.10.5.111 (March 18, 2020)) the 2nd camera that i didn't update worked fine... Solution: I went here -> support.wyzecam.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024852172 (and downloaded an earlier firmware) then I went here -> support.wyzecam.com/hc/en-us/articles/360031490871-How-to-flash-firmware-manually worked like a charm... If you have multiple cameras just pop out the microSD card when you're finished flashing one camera and pop it into the next... Hope this helps someone... Stay and Be Safe... Peace...
Literally was looking for an answer like this. Purchased my first camera the other day and it was on 10.5.34. Let the app firmware upgrade the camera and couldn't pan the camera and realized it was resetting itself every 5 minutes. I sure hope this was the solution - firmware flashed already... giving it a go! Edit: Camera works so well now after firmware downgrade - this thing is amazing for the price!

This doesn't work. My camera bricked when I clicked OK to a firmware update. I have tried two different firmware installations, three times, following these instructions exactly. It's just a lousy product. Waste of money and time.
The easiest way for a BRICK Wyze Cam is to Remove the SD Card & do the reset shown in the video. Then Update the firmware. After the update insert back the SD Card & Format it right away. You can Format the SD Card in the Advanced Settings. Warning... It might night NOT work for OTHERS.

Iv emailed support multiple times and have only recieved generic responses. I have a bricked V1 and V2 with solid yellow lights. The V2 is less than a month old.

Helpful video, thank you. This solved my V2 Error Code 90 after a failed firmware update which bricked my cam. Something unfortunately that a lengthy 30-40 minute and dead ended phone conversation with a Wyze tech could not. It was still a bit incomplete in the light color and behavior which left things a bit unclear if I had been successful. When to remove the SD card with the firmware etc but whatever magic sequence of things I did worked and we have salvaged the cam.

I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. Wyze products and support are some of the worst ive ever dealt with. My cameras wont connect to the app. And i keep getting the same blah blah blah fixes that didnt work. Reset everything, firmware, everything. Nothing works, it always says connection timed out. Oh and im on 2.4ghz, if someone suggests that again im gonna scream.

If you release firmware updates those are supposed to make the camara work better, not make it useless! This is a waste of time, money, and creates a huge frustration on customers. I am not only asking for a refund but not recommending this camara to all the people I know. So for me to try to flash the firmware pretty much you are forcing me to buy an SD because the damn camara does not have a "restore to a previous firmware" option, that is crap. Sick of this

Wyze Cam Pan Wifi connection times out after firmware update. I've used the reset function on the camera and powercycled all routers and shaken a chicken foot soaked in rum at it for good measure. FIXED my V2 solid yellow light. 1) download latest firmware from site 2) copy bin to sd card 3) duplicate the file and name them "recovery_wcpv2.bin" and "demo.bin" -- i dont know which worked but one did 4) hold the reset button and plug the camera in (easier plugging into wall than in the back of the camera) I had to do this 3 times and it finally worked and came back to life.
I think the "recovery_wcpv2.bin" did the trick cause i had "demo.bin" in there by itself and it stayed yellow the whole time. I just follwed your direction and the light changed blue on the reset directions of holding reset button and plugging in camera. after about 1 min it has went back to solid yellow and i hear it click as if its resetting... waiting patiently for a change in lights.
@@john17381 i remember trying one then the other... then i just put both and reset the camera a few times and eventually it worked.
This plus correcting user error were the only thing that worked for me. After 9+ hours of searching online and trying one thing after another, I landed here. I tried the same steps as the video only to realize that i missed the part where she said to copy the file over and not the entire unzipped folder. Even after correcting that mistake I was still only getting the yellow steady light on my v2. Following your steps and adding the second file "recovery_wcpv2.bin" worked on the first try! I put my sd card back in my v2, held down the setup button before plugging in the v2, plugged it in while still holding down the setup button, waited for 6 seconds and the yellow light turned blue. After that it was less than 2 minutes for the cam to finish setting up. The light blinks between blue and yellow then solid blue for a bit before switching to a blinking blue. Then it was ready to add to the app and all was good. Thank you so much for this tip!

Hi my wyze cameras camera was working fine then when on the app it asks me to update the firmware and as I was updating it never went back to working regularly it just stayed solid red light and when I try to restart it from the app it just kept saying. Camera not online but power was good .then I tried doing the micro card 32gthats comes with it and downloaded the firmware and pressed the button before turning power on, held for 6 sec then light turned purple but then instead if going solid light flashing it never turned back to normal and just stayed solid redlight. How can I fix this?

How to do I flash the wyze base station, I've attempted to add the recommended file but I still get that solid yellow light.
I could get only one camera to work, but for the other two cam, I kept getting a message telling that my other two cameras weren't connected to the my wifi, even tough the third camera was working. A couple of days after I received an email telling me the WYZE System had been hacked into. Wasn't aware of this at the time, but they informed me of what happened, by email, which I still have. Two of our cams went on the fritz, but only one came back and worked. When I got in touch with the WYZE support, and told them of the problem with the one cam, they told me that I would have to do a manual flash, on the none working camera. because none of the other things they suggested worked. I told them that I thought the glitch in my camera was brought on by the system being hacked into and that if felt that they should replace it. They said that they couldn't because it was out of warranty. We've been with them for 6 years! Right now, I'm not holding WYZE in a high concept.

@@eTeeGaming Hey I had some luck with mine. I used my SD card in my DSLR for a bit, which needed it to be formatted. After taking the photos off I dropped the demo.bin file on and it took it immediately. So even though I tried two cards, several ways of formatting them, and it would write files to it and play back videos, it had to be a very specific format.
Additionally there was a lightning storm going on, so maybe it was some kind of curse or something and the goblin king will be coming for my first born child. But now I have a rtsp-friendly camera so I can keep an eye out for him.

@@siriusbusiness2351 I used another device to format it. I'm guessing the default was just fat32 and my computer was being an arse about it.
Edit: Nikon guides say that some cameras format to fat16, it's possible that is what worked for me. Wyze does not seem to support exfat though so avoid that.
I tried flashing the firmware after renaming the demo.bin., installing in the root on an SD, inserted, held down reset button, and plugged it in. My light won't change after quite some time. Just yellow, not even a hint of blue. Now what? I also cant figure out if I have a Vi, 2 or 3, cause mine was never set up in the app. How do you find that out with the box or the data plate?

I've never had to slow down a video on youtube before to follow what someone was doing on a computer. Your clicking and dragging files all over the place and I can't follow what you are doing. SLOW DOWN
It is designed for you to pause - not follow live.

I have seen a lot of improvements in the last couple of weeks with the new firmware updates. my connection issues are now gone and the new features are good. one issue is the sensitivity for the motion detection seems to be off. i have it on the lowest setting and i get alerts. I look at the video and there is zero motion. this needs to be fixed. everything else is good. mine is version 1.

We have a sensitivity slider for motion detection now. Are you saying that it is set at 1 and you are still receiving too many notifications? If you are still using the Low/Medium/High setting then I recommend checking in your app store for an update. :)
I have the latest android app. i ordered some version 2 cams so maybe it is better. Also, i just found the reorder feature. finally i can put the important cams on top. thanks and these videos are great. keep them coming
As much as I love my v1 Wyze Cams, I definitely prefer my v2's. I hope that you enjoy yours! The reordering feature has definitely improved my experience with the Wyze app, too. :)

Presenter neglected to mention that the MicroSD **MUST BE** formatted as FAT or FAT32 before attempting to follow these instructions, if not formatted correctly, this will not/never work.
I know its a little dificult but after all morning trying to flash and dont throw agaist the wall the camera i could revive it, the ost important thing its that the sd card must be on fat32 for mac in my case ms-dos fat, it is an old format almost unused and that is because most of the time the firmware flashing doesnt work
Purchased the outdoor camera bundle, the base station didn’t work. Couldn’t connect to the internet. Was informed by support, Wyze having issues with their firmware. There going to send another base station, with a 50-50 chance it will work. It’s sad this company started in 2017….POOR PRODUCT. Send it back and getting company thats been around the block better than Wyze’s

I'm sending both my Wyze Cam Pans back for refunds. I can't deal with this nightmare of garbage firmware that malfunctions with each upgrade. Anybody reading this.....beware. Often people have to downgrade back to the old firmware to make the Cams work and since I don't have any tech background, I don't know what that entails. Either way, not worth it. Buy another brand!

NEVER accept firmware updates AND she says you can call support and they’ll help you out … yeah gonna call bullshit because I was told by Wyze customer support 1) thru don’t support their own products IF you didn’t buy from them ( ie, Amazon etc ) 2) they said they only support their “ latest products “ … so ps. I have 5 diff Wyze cans that dont work due to their firmware updates …. Thanks Wyze great company
Talk about unlucky... 2 of my bases cant go beyond the yellow light. I wish the quality assurance was a bit better.
I just purchased 3 pan cameras and the 1st one I setup had an issue with network errors...(wanted me to go to 360p)
(long story short it was the latest firmware causing the issue... 4.10.5.111 (March 18, 2020))
the 2nd camera that i didn't update worked fine...
Solution:

worked like a charm... If you have multiple cameras just pop out the microSD card when you're finished flashing one camera

Literally was looking for an answer like this.
Purchased my first camera the other day and it was on 10.5.34. Let the app firmware upgrade the camera and couldn't pan the camera and realized it was resetting itself every 5 minutes. I sure hope this was the solution - firmware flashed already... giving it a go!
Edit: Camera works so well now after firmware downgrade - this thing is amazing for the price!

This doesn't work. My camera bricked when I clicked OK to a firmware update. I have tried two different firmware installations, three times, following these instructions exactly. It's just a lousy product. Waste of money and time.

The easiest way for a BRICK Wyze Cam is to Remove the SD Card & do the reset shown in the video. Then Update the firmware. After the update insert back the SD Card & Format it right away. You can Format the SD Card in the Advanced Settings. Warning... It might night NOT work for OTHERS.

Iv emailed support multiple times and have only recieved generic responses. I have a bricked V1 and V2 with solid yellow lights. The V2 is less than a month old.

Helpful video, thank you. This solved my V2 Error Code 90 after a failed firmware update which bricked my cam. Something unfortunately that a lengthy 30-40 minute and dead ended phone conversation with a Wyze tech could not. It was still a bit incomplete in the light color and behavior which left things a bit unclear if I had been successful. When to remove the SD card with the firmware etc but whatever magic sequence of things I did worked and we have salvaged the cam.

I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. Wyze products and support are some of the worst ive ever dealt with. My cameras wont connect to the app. And i keep getting the same blah blah blah fixes that didnt work. Reset everything, firmware, everything. Nothing works, it always says connection timed out. Oh and im on 2.4ghz, if someone suggests that again im gonna scream.

If you release firmware updates those are supposed to make the camara work better, not make it useless! This is a waste of time, money, and creates a huge frustration on customers. I am not only asking for a refund but not recommending this camara to all the people I know. So for me to try to flash the firmware pretty much you are forcing me to buy an SD because the damn camara does not have a "restore to a previous firmware" option, that is crap. Sick of this

Wyze Cam Pan Wifi connection times out after firmware update. I've used the reset function on the camera and powercycled all routers and shaken a chicken foot soaked in rum at it for good measure. No effect. Firmware link dead: "wyze.com/forums/topic/flashing-your-wyzecam-pan-firmware/" I can't believe you've dun this.
Wyze cameras are junk. You are forced to update the firmware and then it bricks the camera . Be warned!!!
