    Question though. I have installed this on a Wyze V2 and my UI look vastly different from what you are showing. You DON'T want to forward Cam ports. You want to setup like Zeroteir on one of your home computers that stay on. Then install it on your phone etc and connect to the same Zeroteir network. That should allow viewing remotely but securely. Yes you will need to be connected to your home network. There's multiple ways it can be done. Zeroteir is one easy way. Then you can remotely connect to devices on your home network like you're on your couch, just slower in some cases depending on internet speeds. You can also setup a Private VPN server and DDNS on your home router and connect that way. Most home routers have the free option. There's multiple ways to do it

    • @WillSurridgeTech
      @WillSurridgeTech  4 года назад +2

      At 1:52 I say you should connect to the network with original firmware so you can get the mac address and set a static IP, but it's probably too late now!
      Grant posted a comment with this option - "In the "firmware_mod\config" folder, there is a file called "staticip.conf.dist". Just type in the static IP address you wish, save the file and remove the ".dist" file type, reboot, now your camera has a static IP address"
      Alternatively you can just go to your router settings and find the connected device which is new and get the ip there :)

      @@WillSurridgeTech The static IP I set up isn't the one that is listed on my router settings but either way both aren't connecting. It's less of a connection not private page and rather just says Safari/Chrome could not connect to the server :(

    • @WillSurridgeTech
      @WillSurridgeTech  4 года назад +1

      If the software is working on the camera, and you can ping it, there should be absolutely no reason you cant connect to it in web browser...All I can suggest is restarting everything!

  • @sfnyc
    @sfnyc 8 месяцев назад

    Does this still works on V2 cams? Looks like it is not connecting to the wifi network as I see no entry for the camera with the modified firmware.
    PS: in the video it's being stated @6:07 that a static IP had been created earlier, but that was not shown anywhere... also if you have a router that allows you to enter manually a MAC address and create a static IP that way, you'd be able to do that perhaps... but those that require you to connect and then assign a static IP only after a device is seen as connected, then you'd be out of luck.

I've tried reflashing multiple times, no luck. I've tried assuming the flash has taken, and put another SD card with the other firmware, no luck.
    I've heard references to the latest firmware from WyzeCam being a problem, so I flashed 4.8.4.28 from the "firmware_original" folder, and then attemped the bootloader flash... no luck.

I've formatted it several times with the SD Card Formatter, I hold down the reset button, plug in power, the light comes on yellow then changes to blue, hold for a further 20s and release. After a few seconds the light changes to yellow, the camera clicks a couple of times and after about 2 minutes the yellow light starts blinking. When I put the SD card back into my PC it comes up with a "there is a problem with this drive...." . When I check the card it has 2 additional folders on it, record and time_lapse. What's going on, what am I doing wrong? Any suggestions gratefully received thanks. 2 days later, I've tried 2 other 32GB SD cards, I've partitioned one down to 512MB and I still cannot get it to work. Tried 4x full format overwrite, demo.bin and no luck. When re-instering the SD into my computer before reformatting it I can see the camera just creates its folder structure on the SD next to the demo.bin in and starts recording to the SD card with the footage carrying WYZE watermark on it - that's all what happens. :/

    @2:10 The size of the card does matter, 32 is the largest you can use. Also no need to hold the button for that long. Once the light turns light blue, you can let go. It usually takes about 4 to 6 seconds for it to turn blue.
    If it doesn't turn blue after a few seconds, is either because your card is too big (I was using 128gb) or your demo.bin file got corrupted when you transferred it.

      Thanks for letting me know! I thought it was quite a long time, but to be honest I was happy I'd found a way which worked, and was repeatable!

      At 2:10 he didn't say the size didn't matter, he said the _kind_ didn't matter, meaning it doesn't have to be SanDisk. You are correct though, anything larger than 32Gb is unlikely to work. I used a 4Gb 'cause, what else is it good for? 😃

      Thanks for leaving this comment. Couldn’t get it to work and after seeing this I know why. Been using a 64gb card. Only one I had.

      @@thestreamreader or @Will Surridge Tech - Did you ever find out if there's anything for V3? I managed to get RTSP turned on following a tutorial that instructed me to download a demo_wcv3.bin file and place on the root of sd card, then reboot while holding set-up. I can now enable RTSP in the Wyze (android) app settings.
      However I can't seem to get the stream to view in HomeAssistant. I keep getting message in logs "Stream has no video". I'm not using the Wyze bridge or running in a docker, I'm on a RPi 3.
      Do you guys have any ideas/suggestions?? Would be most welcome!
      Matt

    Hi Will,
    Compared to Wyze RTSP firmware (support.wyzecam.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026245231-Wyze-Cam-RTSP), Dafang Hacks video quality is extremely bad.
    Pixel blocks, artefacts etc., especially in IR/night mode where it's monochrome. My wifi signal is perfect.
    Also didn't try yet the changing the bootloader to enable FullHD, but overall very bad experience with 720p. I've spent A LOT trying ALL kind of settings, bitrates, killing services in the name of CPU/Memory, swap etc, nothing even comes close to Wyze RTSP quality.
    Any ideas, are welcome.
    I have some mice that i spy, and they move quite fast in / out of the frame. Motion detection from Wyze is useless, so i was hoping for a quality RTSP stream so i can feed it to MotionEye and record there. Until now, nothing beats the continuous recording on the sd card directly in the camera.
    Edit:
    i've switched to beta, and with a U1 grade sd-card, and i'm positively surprised. Will come back with more info.

      I have to say I'm not particularly bothered about the quality at the moment. But you are right - it's not the best! The beta or wyze firmware or dafang hack? Let me know what it's like!
