    It is a clay recipe from Long Beach State college. Aardvark Clay Co. in Santa Ana CA makes it. I get LBM the M is minus the iron addition. Regular LB clay has enough iron oxide to give it a light red color and a rich brown in reduction firing. It is a very versatile clay body for throwing and sculpting. I threw production Pottery for 17 years and every studio used this clay. I threw over a million pots with this clay and sculpted many large works of art.
    Aardvark also has a store in Las Vegas.

    Thank you for your video! Going to attempt this tomorrow! I was wondering about the wire you use to hold up the shark… Can it be fired and if so could you please tell me what kind? Or is it put in after?

      I used stainless steel rod and glued in place after the glaze firing. The did not go through the firing.

    Please, can you tell me if this animal can be made out of air dry clay at all?

    • @clayistheway1397
      @clayistheway1397  2 года назад +2

      yes it can. Those types of clay are sometimes not as malleable. Use water and score your connections really well

    For future reference, there are 5 gill slits, not 4. (Almost all sharks except for species like the 6 gill and 7 gill sharks, have 5 gill slits.) Also the eyes are smaller and further forward.
    Also the caudal keel (which you called "these little glides that all sharks have") are only present on a few species. Salmon sharks, Makos, White Sharks, and Whale Sharks for example.
    It's nice creating a helpful tutorial for sculpting techniques, but your anatomy points and specifically observations about this species are off.
    If the techniques are the main point, then my observations may be just knit picking or immaterial. But given that you are citing anatomy as if to share facts, you might wish to keep those discussions authentic if you are presenting them as a how to make a realistic white shark tutorial. Just saying... 😉
    I like your hammerhead sculpt. With this I am curious to see the end result. So I'll reserve judgement in full.
    Good luck with future shark sculpts. Cheers!
