    Every time I thought it was looking good and assumed it was close to being finished, you added another more awesome layer and another and another! It just kept getting more and more beautiful!       If I've got this right:
      1. Yes, you can bake with the wire armature.
      2. I don't cut the piece, the foil stays inside.

      I pierced the holes in the whale's body because there can be air between the clay and the foil, and the clay can puff up when heated.

    1:43 how do you get the clay this texture? And what type of tape is this? Last question, do you just poke the hole on the base, take it off, and bake?

      2. “Tamia” Masking tape.

    Fantastic work. Where do you get the metal rod to attach the whale to? They seem essential to sculpt aquatic creatures (without sculpting a whole base for each one), but I haven't been able to find them. And do you buy the wooden base?

      Thanks a lot! I use inexpensive knitting needles as the metal rod. For the base, I used a wooden tray from the H&M Home Store.

    Hi! I wonder if with each layer of clay you added you baked each one first. At what temperature and time did you bake each layer, and how long was the final baking time? I love this whale, you turned out amazing! Thanks 🥰

      Hi, Laura, I'm glad you liked it.😊
      While sculpting, I bake the clay several times for 5-10 minutes at 110-130 degrees Celsius. That makes it a lot easier for me to shape it.
      At the end of sculpting, I bake the figure for about 20 minutes.

    What is the brown gooey stuff that you use? What does it do differently than the clay?

      This is polymer clay mixed with liquid polymer clay. It's more comfortable for me to work this way, but you can skip this step.

    I have been sculpting and painting figures for the past 2 years which has caused a lot of floaters in my eye ...do you also get floaters doing detailed work?..what kind of environment should I have to do these kind of detailed sculptures?

      I'm sorry to hear you've had to deal with this problem. So far, my eyes haven't been affected by the sculpting. Perhaps you could try using a desk magnifier lamp
