Great video Mover, I love how you shout out for the kill, or to shoot a missile when watching someone else dogfight, but when you're doing it yourself you suddenly go dead silent. The competitiveness is real haha
Man, I need to get back into DCS... MSFS "you have crashed" isn't as fun as tearing a wing off and trying to get down safely... And I miss the pew pew 🤣
Would love to see an F-20 in this sim. It had the size and visual profile of the F-5, and more than a passing resemblance, but with 9G ability and 60% more power than an F-5E. When Northrop took one to the Miramar airshow, the TOPGUN instructors were practically drooling over it, rubbing their hands together gleefully, dreaming of the dirty tricks they were going to play on their students. They even went so far as to dub it the Gomershark.
26:45 i think that happened in real life, dunno if it was the same plane but a guy got hit by the launch rail in the mouth i remember seeing pics of that all over back in 201X.
C.W I have some legitimate questions I feel like you could use to make a video. First - Not everyone can graduate first of their class from Harvard law. Not everyone can be Pat Mahomes or Tom Brady, there has to be some Sam Darnolds out there. Now that doesn’t mean they still aren’t one of the best in the world and obviously talented but not the upper tier. My point being have you ever flown in Red Air with/against what would be considered some of the upper tier pilots, the top guns, the aces? Can you tell when you’re flying against one of them that like “wow this guy is good, he’s different” like can you tell you’re flying against a really good pilot. What sets those upper echelon pilots apart from let’s say “regular” pilots. What’s so different about them mentally and physically that allows them to be so good? Second - When it’s comes to these upper echelon pilots, is there a squadron that they all strive to be apart of? For example the “Seal Team Six” of squadrons and it’s just universally accepted that this particular squadron has the best pilots or dog fighters and if so what squadron is it and why? Last - I imagine it’s easy to point at the guys who fly the F22’s or F35’s and say those are the best pilots. But is that maybe not always the case? I’m sure they’re obviously very good and very intelligent, and maybe it just takes a more intelligent pilot to operate those planes because of all the technology but that doesn’t always mean they’re the best pilots or dog fighters. Do the best dog fighters typically fly different planes like the F15’s or F16’s for example or are the guys who fly the F22’s really the best of the best and the best dog fighters? I hope these questions reach you and I watch a lot of your videos and tried to ask some questions I don’t think I’ve seen you answer before.
Hay mover you should play a game called VTOL VR i feel like you would love this game It is an airforce game that of course has a vtol jet and heli/plane and the F/A-16 i think. also i love your vids
Momentarily, yes. But it is nowhere close to being able to sustain it. At 5,000 ft its maximal sustained g is about 7 as seen in official EM diagrams. Also, 10g will cause severe airframe damage, potentially leading to in-flight failure.
I believe he was using flaps in full rather than the usual auto. When landing, the lift from full flaps is high, which means even at low speeds (120kt) it still generates a lot of lift. At higher airspeeds (200kt) it balloons the aircraft (it floats upwards quickly). When turning, lift determines turn rate. Using full flap configuration to increase lift, which translates to increase turn rate. So he used the ballooning effect from the lowered flaps to increase his turn rate. They would call it cheating because if they did it in real life they probably damage the aircraft. (I wouldn't know though as I am not a pilot or engineer).
@@jeremybalkan1123 Yes i'm aware that the flaps in real life would be jammed Open, and probably would prevent the aircraft from sweeping the wings. I believe in real life pilots could use the flaps, but doing so above 250kts or 300kts (not sure of the exact number) would jam and damage the flaps. I think this maybe is not fully modeled yet, but i believe Heatblur will fix this. Very unfortunate, that the upgraded F-14E was never built. They planned to increase the lifting area around the glove vanes and wing, and add proper manouvering flaps Hornet style, besides the engine upgrade for GE -132 engine which would add something like 20-25% more thrust. The more advanced proposal also included thrust vectoring nozzles, which would fix the not so good roll rate on the Tomcat
@@YarisTex Ah, a man of culture. I went into a bit of detail because I wasn't sure about your background on the subject matter, but I would say you know a fair bit. I didn't want to give a short answer if it was vague, as DCS is a study sim, questions get asked, and those answers need reasons as to why. I like to string my logic along so people can follow. Also, anyone else looking into the comment can get the answer. Yay for academia. Saying "because he used flaps in a turn" would have been too minimalistic an answer, especially if you were for example, new to the game.
@@jeremybalkan1123 I love Tomcats, so i have to be very informed about them. I remember reading a paper from RADM. Gillchrist (not sure if i'm writing the name wrong) and Grumman engineer Bob Kress, about how a newly built F-14E would be in many ways (almost all of them actually) be much superior to the F-18 Super Hornet. Main disadvantage would always be maintenance costs, as the Tomcat would be more complex than the Super Bug, but not by much since the E Tomcat would be entirely new airframes. With completely new avionics, new AESA radar (huge aperture size on the Tomcat nose), even further improved fuel capacity, further improved fuel economy with new engines, supercruising, an array of several new weapons, it would be a hell of a machine. One of the good arguments is that although each F-14E unit would be more expensive than the Super Hornet, the Navy wouldn't need as much new Tomcats as it needs Hornets.
