I had the same problem. I have a birdhouse on top of a 18 steel pole. Then about 5 ft below I have a feeder. The squirrels would jump from the fence to the pole. So I greased the pole. Now my neighbor sits on his patio in the morning drinking his coffee and watches the squirrels jump to pole and slide down....over and over again. He says it's his morning humor.

Squirrels can be pretty friendly little creatures. I started feeding one at my brother's house, went on for a long time. He got to the point he would climb right on my knee and take food from my hand. They problem came when he told his friends about me. It made me nervous to go out in the morning and see 15 jittering squirrels all sitting in the driveway not afraid of me. Waiting for a hand out. My brother was pissed 🤣🤣🤣

There's a really easy way to deal with squirrels raiding bird feeders- just get or make a feeder for the squirrels.
Put it in a place of easy access to them, filled with peanuts, and they will ignore the bird feeders.
Squirrels are lazy, and take the path of least resistance to food, unless you try to make it difficult for them, and then they become relentless.

Just got ourselves 2 bird feeders and a "squirrel defeater" (yep! That's the brand name as well). The bird feeder does it's job. The squirrel defeater also does its job, kinda/sorta. As long as it is set to the right height, no squirrel has been able to get to the feed. But those squirrels, though. You can see them look up and scheme their attack -- my wife finally told me, if the squirrel makes it to the top and gets to that feed, I am going out and placing the feed on a paper plate on the ground for them! They've earned it. :D

The 1st year 2 males fought along our fence line till they were so exhausted they lay motionless (10 minutes) I finally went out to see if they were even alive. They were and flew away! All sorts of sparrows, chickadees, occasional nuthatch, 3 species of wood peckers and 3 species of hawks come for lunch (till we let trees grow in so there is no "swoop room" for the redtails) We go thru as much a 300lb of seed over a fall and winter.

I love the space you have in America around your houses. Here in the UK we have 11 houses per acre! Mental, I know, but the UK is tiny and has around the same population as Canada! Great video and innovative use of the zapper! 😆 🐿

You need to bring back the Empire, obviously not wise to go to India now, very unfortunate to say the least, I wish them the best. 🙏

I was expecting his little skeleton to become visible for a couple of seconds each time he touched the wire... Three days later he's wondering why balloons keep sticking to him...

My father in law used to use tubing to tap his maple trees draining them into a tank in the Spring and the squirrels loved to chew through them to get to the sap. A friend and I were going to make a c-clips with an ear on each side to clip over the tubing. Then a light piano wire could be ran down each side of the tubing from ear to ear on the clips and then be connected to a weed burner electric fencer. I know lots of guys that were tapping trees that would’ve bought these clips just to watch those destructive tree rats dance when they got between those wires and ended up getting the hell shocked out of them on the tubing.

An easy squirrel proof device for those skinny metal poles, is a two liter plastic pop bottle. Just drill a hole in the bottom, and slide it up the pole. It is too slippery and two large in diameter for a squirrel to climb or hang onto. For athletic squirrel, stack two bottles.
