What a fantastic school; Bravo to that school resource officer to care enough to be an advocate for Madalina!
After 3 weeks? Um not at all.
Sounds like the mother gave a ton of excuses & lies that she told to the school leading up to the 3rd wk; by week 3, they weren’t buying it anymore & had the investigation launched.
There’s only but so much a school can do without any direct evidence of abuse or harm, especially when the parent(s) themselves are involved & buying time with lies.
Sad case- I’m afraid for this little girl’s fate, especially due to the mother’s actions. But we can’t blame the school; they did a good job (compared to many schools in urban communities who sometimes don’t even notice or assume the child dropped out or something & do not launch investigations).
She wasn’t worried because she already knew
My thoughts as well. No real mother would know her child was missing for three weeks and not report it. Also no real mother would try to hamper anyone trying to find her missing child. This POS, lied, made up excuses to try to cover herself. 😢
you know whats gonna happen now, dont you? if they dont find enough evidence and the mom keeps her mouth shut, she will get off just like that other woman..whats her name.

you're right, the mom probably sold the kid into slavery, or worse.
Im not saying she didnt , but cant they track if she got money around that time ? @@rstidman

When I couldn’t locate my daughter for 1 hour - panic set in
Seconds for me... Lol
Right.
My daughter was playing with her cousins and wandered off. Was gone for less than 2 minutes and I was freaking out running down the street looking for her
I can still feel that total panic when my child was unaccounted for even 15 minutes! I did not hover over them, but my instincts alerted me when something wasn’t right. I , like you, never ignored those instincts. Thank God they were always fine, but I don’t regret a moment of making sure that was the case.
I had the whole neighborhood looking for my youngest son when he was 3. He was really talented with screwdrivers and had gotten out my side door before. I was just about to call the police when my daughter found him on the top bunk.
The so called mother definitely knows what happened. 😢
No grandparents wondering where she is?? No cousins or friends wondering or asking? Very sad!!!

I'm sorry there should be way longer sentences for not reporting your minor child missing. At least the school did something.
This child is gone, i think everybody knows that.
No other family or friends to notice she was missing? If mom had withdrawn her from school before they became suspicious poor girl might have never been reported missing. We really need to build villages and support one another, this is heartbreaking.
I know it’s a long shot, but I hope she’s found alive.
The short answer is that there was no local village, sadly.
Diana Cojocari, Madalina Cojocari's mother, is from Moldova, where most of her relatives live. Madalina's stepfather has brothers, many of whom live in Michigan. Although they testified in the stepfather's recent trial, it's unclear to me when and how they became aware that Madalina was missing.
When police began their investigation after Diana arrived at Madalina's school without Madalina, they discovered that, sadly, Madalina didn't have any close friends, just a couple of acquaintances. I don't think the family had many friends, either, and it sounds to me like they didn't really interact with their neighbors.
@@l.a.3479I read somewhere that the Feds are going to ship mum back to Moldova. I hope this is not true because then she would be out of reach.
@@l.a.3479 oh wow thank you for this additional info. This is something that actually worries me a lot with the immigration crisis currently happening. There are so many vulnerable people that are going missing and there’s no one looking for them because they have no one here.

Nothing. Not a thing

A prosecutor can get a conviction without a body, but it's difficult.
So if this officer couldn't speak on anything why even do this interview?
Exactly. We learned no new information.
To spread the word to more people in case the young girl is still out there, or if anyone has any tips or witnessed anything can call
Why do you have officials, who are donating their time and expertise , on your show and not let them speak and cut them off mid sentence? When my daughter was a bus rider in middle school and the bus was very late to the point it was getting dark outside and she still wasn’t home yet I was pacing the floors in panic..
The school didn’t call and tell the parents nor did transportation and tell us anything… I was losing my mind, shaking, looking out the windows what seemed like every second… and when she finally got home from the bus I was so worried but asked what happened?? And apparently the bus broke down and they needed another bus to go get the kids, reload and the driver of that bus didn’t know the route so he was relying on the kids to tell him where to go…
Never been so scared in my life… this lady is not a mother..
Please please keep following this case
How incredibly sad. Poor little girl.
My heart is breaking for Madalina.
Yikes. Is this child trafficking?
Sadly, I wondered that too! That could be worse than death in extreme cases.
When I moved to NC.. didn’t know I was supposed to sending a Dr note when my daughter was out of school. They called DSS on me! Didn’t bother to ask me, but the social worker told me I could be arrested! These were 8 absences “missing a note” over the course of the school year. I called the doctor and asked them to send every time I took her to the doctor and it was resolved. School could have said something instead of wasting an already under serviced county resources.
Did they not accept you telling them she won't be there and why she was absent ? If she had a cold you wouldn't take hwr to a doctor so a doctors note seems extreme for each sick day ???
What the school really wants is to have some interaction with the parents when a child misses a day in school. The school wants documentation, interaction, response, schools today are the ones taking the extra step to keep students safe.
That feels extreme, I mean I get why schools want you to let them know the child won’t be there but if it’s just a day at a time and she keeps coming back to school I don’t see why they would go to those lengths. But I guess better safe than sorry?
Georgia here my son had his dr excuse but unknowingly to me he wasn’t turning them in. Until we both got in trouble 🤦♀️
Not really relevant to this case
If memory serves me correctly I think mom and Madalina immigrated from Maldova. Mom married stepdad it was an internet romance thing. Most if not all blood relatives are overseas I believe. I think an "uncle" or something might be here in the States but not in NC. Mom may have sent her away, she's trafficked, deceased, or in hiding. Mom fully well knows. I think stepdad filed for divorce as well. Sad, heartbreaking situation.
Giving me Casey Anthony vibes 😢I hope they find her safe.
Exactly. Zanny the Nanny...
Some parents get arrested when their children “go missing”, some parents get to just live their lives as if nothing happened 🧐

Look I’m RUNNING out of TIME
TO WHOEVER did this interview shame on you a child is missing but you don’t have time to discuss it with LAW ENFORCEMENT
I'm sure the police are discussing it with multiple outlets and there isn't much of a story yet. Beside that the mom is a person of interest for not reporting her daughter missing. I'm sure the interview would be much longer if there were more to the story.
The assistant police chief wasn't saying much because it's an active investigation. Banfield and NewsNation should've known it was going to be that way before they scheduled the interview. We learned no new information, and Banfield was rude.
The interview was not in vain, however. The media needs to keep covering this, and keep Madalina's name out there.
OK, where's the man involved here? There's a piece missing.
Of course it must be a man.... women never do any wrong 🤦♂
I know this might be crazy to hear, but women can be monsters too.
The majority of violent crimes are not committed by women so the question is very valid.
The majority of violent crimes are not committed by women so the question is very valid.
Often when a child is missing and the mom is the main suspect, there is a man on the side with the mom that influences her decisions.
The mother sounds very suspicious. I hope they find out what happened to the girl
Hopefully, the girl gets found safe and sound very soon. This cop talked a lot and said nothing.
The "cop" is the assistant police chief. She couldn't say much because it's an active, ongoing investigation. Actually, IMO, Banfield did most of the talking and was rude to the guest by interrupting.
She’s no mother, this is freaking sad.
She is so cute. How can a mom be so heartless? I just dont understand it.

Thank you for noticing and saying something. Thank you for being persistent and demanding answers. I'm praying for everyone involved.
Mother and stepfather did something, we all know …
Bless this child.
The officer is being very vague. If she can’t speak to specifics, then she should say that. The reporter is asking direct questions trying to ascertain exactly what Mom said and no info is given. Either way the police have a horrible job when dealing with missing kids and this mother doesn’t deserve the title of mom or mother
Banfield and NewsNation should've known it was going to be this way before scheduling the interview. Law enforcement can't say much about an active, ongoing investigation.

My kid snuck out one night and fell asleep at his friends house. I woke up in a panic, called the sheriff’s department immediately! Thank god my son was okay. Never once has my child made me want to hurt him. Some people do not deserve children! This sweet girl deserved a mom who loved her 😢
Such a sad case. ❤
You don't need to be worried about your child when you already know what's up, but most people at least use the time they've bought to get their story together.

I bet the stepfather had something to do with it.

Just forgot she had a daughter. Like, we've ALL done that !
This is in my hometown. When I seen the missing posters of this little girl, I knew something was wrong because Cornelius is so small, & Cornelius school is very prompt & hands on with parents. My daughter went to Cornelius Elementary School & her teachers kept me updated every day on her. I mean that school is one of best schools in Mecklenburg County. All along I knew her mom was suspicious.

First 48 hours are crucial to any investigation... Seems Mom made all of that impossible. Shall be interesting.
The officer just kept repeating herself and basically said nothing

I randomly think about Madalina. I hope you safe angel❤
"There was no father".... just a miraculous conception then?
Why oh why .there's to much of this stuff going on with parents and children...

Im going to be sick
After one minute of silence I start wondering where or what mine are doing because it's so quiet so im going to look. The only reason a 🥚 donor wouldnt report her child missing is because she knows where or what happened to her child. Its sad and heartbreaking they both need to be in prison.
Did any family member or friends, teachers etc why did nobody report her missing 🤦🏽♀️
Most of the family of Madalina's mother lives in Moldova, where she's from. Many of the stepfather's family members are in Michigan. Sadly, neither Madalina nor her parents had many friends. Madalina's mother kept giving Madalina's school guidance counselor the runaround, dodging a lot of her calls. Madalina was reported missing around Dec. 15, 2022 or 2021, when Madalina's mother arrived at school without her for a meeting with the guidance counselor.
Another parent who cant step up to parenthood and kids disappear
Wow another woman who killed her own baby. Shocking......
There's no evidence of that. They're only saying that the mother is a suspect in her daughter's DISAPPEARANCE.
Pictures are worth a thousand words , mom’s photo is telling ….
I’m afraid the mother sold her daughter and not reporting it gave them time to traffic her out of the state or even country 💔
What is with these parents? Good god if I couldn’t find my child I would be going absolutely crazy.
Why would you panic if you know where she is?
The mother and stepfather know! The problem is that the police can’t produce the evidence and unless someone finds evidence, or one of these 2 talk this case may never be solved. Poor little girl.
Wow a heartless Mom
