    Very good review, thanks. Looking into getting a bit more powerfull solar charger. I got a Chotech 12W which is small and very light but not so efficient with a bit more powerfull devices or a larger phone. As I understand from this review, it is almost necessary to use this with a powerbank to avoid damaging smaller devices?

      This is my recommendation , because a power bank is not at all influenced if you stop and restart the charging . And then from the power bank is easy to change your device . But if you have good sunlight without clouds and you are not moving around with the panel so the charge is constant , I don't see any reason why not also use it directly . I have seen other reviews that mentioned that some phones if there is a disruption in power will not start to power again only after you remove and insert back the power cord . So you may think that your phone is charging but it got disrupted at some point and didn't start again to charge . Still have to test all of this out , but I would test only 2 phones that I have . I have a lot of different chargers with different certifications and I must say some of them are for exemple 60W PD , and when you try to power a Switch it does not power it , and then another one also with 60W PD it does power the Switch . I think we are still far away of having a universal standard unfortunately , even if you find the explanation why is not working this does only confirm you that the universal charging is not there yet .

    The big thing is quick charge capability. Try charging something that can draw more watts, like a Quick Charge 3.0 battery terminal or any qc3.0 device that charge at 20 or even 30 watts. Ty.

      Not bad but I paid 90 euros on Amazon, and it's not more than 16 watts or so as you said (I got a maximum of 17,5 but most of the time not more than 10 or 12...), when everybody expects more because of the misleading name..

    Could I use this for charging 2 or 3 rechargeable batteries at a time from AAA, AA, and 18650?

    • @constantech4342
      @constantech4342  2 года назад +1

      Those batteries normally charge slow so yes you could use it , but you need an USB charger for them , maybe I will test it out in some clips soon , but is not so sunny lately

      I'm looking for a panel like this for the same thing, what I've came to the conclusion is that I'll need a panel that actually has a output of 5v 2a at the port to fully use majority of the 18650 chargers, cutting it down to 1a or even 0.5a is fine it'll just take longer but in full sun I'd want to get the full 5v 2a thst the port is rated for

    i bought this bigblue charger from amazon and in my opinion the programming of the chip is utter garbage - whoever programmed it, had no clue at all. This charger has 2 major issues that make it simply unusable.
    1) Whenever a cloud reduces the output from 2A to, for example, 0.5A, it never recovers. Even if the cloud disappears and you have full sun again, it stays at 0.5A. Which is ridiculous. This problem makes this charger for hiking completely unusable.
    2) Sometimes in low ampere it goes into a "toggle" where the charge is constantly on-off-on-off-on-off. This damages the battery and every "on" time the display of the smartphone goes on - so in the end the smartphone even discharges.
    This charger is simply unusable just because of the ridiculously bad programming. Your tests didn´t show that.

      Will try to test again , I didn’t had this issues , what variant do you have ? Is it the one with the display ?

      @@segoiii thanks , as soon the cold is over I will start doing some more tests with this and will include this kind of tests as well , as I now have also the other panels from this manufacturer , anyway it is not recommended to charge directly a phone with this exactly for the reasons you mentioned and to be fair I don't know if other pannels out there are able to do something different , if I would design something like this I would possibly include a buffer of some kind like a big capacitor or some small battery in between the ports designated for a smartphone . I have the power bank where I can see the imput power will try to see if I get the same issues , as it may also be that the charging is controller by the smartphone not by the pannel , I have different issues with a lot of wall chargers (PD) where the device I want to charge is not smart enough to trigger the charger for exemple
