Soft & Hazy Sponge Painting ~ I used an Ordinary Kitchen Sponge!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 фев 2025
- Creating a soft and hazy cloud painting with a kitchen sponge can be a fun and creative way to capture the dreamy, ethereal qualities of clouds. This technique allows for a blend of colors and a gentle texture that mimics the softness of clouds in the sky.
With a kitchen sponge as the tool of choice, one can achieve a dreamy, ethereal effect reminiscent of fluffy clouds. Dip the sponge into the desired colors, gently dabbing onto the canvas in soft, swirling motions. Layering different shades adds depth and dimension, while varying pressure and angles create texture and shape. Through this method, the sponge becomes a conduit for your artistic expression, transforming simple strokes into a mesmerizing landscape of softness and haze....in this case...a mesmerizing seascape. 😁💕

Thank you for sharing. I was just about ready to throw my painting in the trash when I discovered your video. It really works. Also thanks for sharing your mistakes and just keep going.
Awesome! Thanks so much 😁
Soraya you make the most beautiful clouds and water. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much 😁
Very cool!!
Thank you 😁
I wonder your reasoning as you go along. In beginning was mostly sky, to the end being mostly ? mountain surrounded by sky w early land to violent water. ? Process of how much energy you have early, to later on? To the change in hormonal attitudes early (peace) to more fortitude later? I've heard it called a "meta" process. Lower level conscious vs higher. (Milton Erickson, MD) "you paint this but you don't have to". Do mistakes ENOUGH and it becomes correct! Love your process!
As I explain in the video my paintings evolve and change based on what I am seeing at the time I am painting. One thing affects another. I sometimes get frustrated because my vision does not get translated to the canvas. Once I let go and let the painting guide me, it all goes smoothly. I do enjoy the process
You are such a joy to watch and I love your honesty about your process. Inspiring.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 💖😁
Beautiful and intuitive work and technique 🌹Renoir reputedly said: “Let the painting paint itself. “
Yes! Thank you! 😊
Love watching you work, and your honesty about paint not always doing what you want it to do! It always makes me feel a bit of a failure when I have to keep going over stuff till it looks good to me :-) so very reassuring that other artists also struggle some days
I appreciate that! Thank you 😊
nice sharing
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for showing it 😊 gorgeous!

Your painting was so fabulous. I will try a sponge one of these days. Thank you!
Have fun! Thank you 😁🩷
Wot, no singing! 😄Well, I think this piece surprised you as much as it did us! I do love the result! Once again, to my eyes, all the colours are great, but for the brown shades. Every time you hold up a tube labelled "Umber" or "Sienna" I want to shriek "Noooo!". But that's just me. We all see and experience colours differently. So never mind me!
😁 thank you so much for your support. I appreciate it.
So gorgeous!
Thank you so much 😁
I really love your creativity Soraya! You have such a cool painting style! Great video my friend (:
Thank you so much 😀
Love this method! Excellent regards from New Zealand
Awesome! Thank you!
Beautiful, it looks like a beautiful dream over the clouds. Thanks a lot for sharing. Learning a lot from your painting.
Thank you so much 😀
Awesome painting 🎨🖌️
Thank you so much 😀
Gorgeous capture of light , energy and colour.
Many thanks😁🙏
Beautiful!! I love how you can make the cloud soft but dramatic too. The wee bit of warm yellow/brown adds such dimension; I see hints of land and rocks. Amazing work as aways! 💖
Thank you so much!
I agree😍👏😊
You make it look pretty simple if only.Beautiful 😊
Thank you! 😊
Interesting and informative! Thanks for sharing your insights.
Thanks for watching 😁
Absolutely beautiful Soraya. I love the sky and the sea contrast.
Thank you so much 😁
Wow I love it. The turbulent sea looks amazing ❤❤❤
Thanks for watching 😁I appreciate it😁
I agree😊
So fun to have these tutorials! Txz Jeanne
Thanks for watching!
So nice and innovative. now every time I do the dishes think about you, lol
😂😂 thanks!
I love that sponge technique, and the choice of colors.
Thank you so much!
I had a go creating different visual textures in different ways in acrylics and was very surprised how even a scrunched up paper towel creates more interest much more quickly than labouring with a brush.
So true. Thanks for watching 😁
You are right😊
Wow 😮 เป็นภาพที่น่าทึ่ง Full support ❤
Thanks!
Very dramatic picture, I love clouds, fog, mountains, so pretty. Do you ever use gesso for a smooth go of it?
Hi! No I haven’t. I really need to try it out. It would solve a lot of problems. Thanks for the suggestion. I’d totally forgotten about that. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it😁
It is so interesting to watch as you develop your painting. I think I see the direction you are heading in then, poof you complete change directions. I thought for sure I saw land taking shape, then water again and back to land. The ending waves were amazing! It is mesmerizing watching you. Question, how are able to work the paint for so long. I know very little about acrylic but I know it dries very quickly. Do you spritz the paint along the way, or use a blending medium to be able blend for so long.
Thank you so much 😁 I don’t add any additives or extensors. I just keep adding more paint in small amounts. Occasionally, if I want a smooth look, then I will add a touch of water. Hope that helps 😁
Hello, until 8.03 it was fantastic! you had made the sky and the color Siena could be a mountain range, the second part of your table (I give possible ideas) This is what I imagined and moreover, the CONTRAST was PERFECT 🙂What do you think? It is not a criticism, or it is constructive.
Or, instead of a mountain range, waves, a raging ocean or not;-)
Thanks for that!
I Think This is a Blessed Medium. Thank You!! This Is A Challenge. It Would be Fabulous for Seniors (me) ETC. WHAT THERAPY. Bravo, Just Fun and Calming. You Get involved and the World is Silenced. (Life Doesnt Always Work Out. Either Do Painting.) Good Thing, YOU CAN ALWAYS START TOMORROW. I Want to Paint All My Ceilings. What Could I Use for a Stiff Neck? BLESSINGS
You're so kind and funny too! Enjoy the process and make it yours. Thanks so much for your comment and for watching. Have a great day😊❤️
Wow very nice Painting Soraya .i like you style in Painting. I want to ask One questions canvas spray with water or not. I still always follow you channel
I do if it is required. Thank you for watching 😁🙏
Hi Soraya. I love your gorgeous sponge cloud paintings, but I don't like fluid art at all. Do you use reference pics for the clouds? Cheers.
Thank you so much. I don’t use any reference images. It is all my imagination. Thanks for watching 😁
Beginner here… I heard you say on one of your videos that you varnish your finished paintings. Can you explain what you use and how? Do you just brush it on or use spray??
Hi, yes. I varnish all my paintings. I now use a spray. Krylon. Non yellowing. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching 😁
I love how you do this Soraya! However, my paint seems to dry out too fast. Are you using an additive or water to slow the drying?
Hi. No , I don’t add anything. It is paint straight out of the tube on a dry sponge. If you’re having trouble try adding a very small amount of water. But before you do, try adding more paint first. If that doesn’t work then add the water. Hope that helps 😁
Very interesting and beautiful.
Many thanks!
At 15.09: why not "warm" a little this sky (but not everywhere, just in a very specific place that could also be the Golden figure or the Fibonacci curve!) with the addition of a warm color? A small hint of yellow or ocher mixed with white would be the most beautiful effect because for the moment in the canvas, there are only cold colors.
Hi, thanks. Around the 18:40 mark I add some warm colours mostly as a stain. I add and wipe them off. It definitely warms the cooler colours. Thanks for watching 👍
I love your work! I'm gonna give it a try soon. I have a question...the sponge you are using? Do you get those in bulk on Amazon? Is it a foam sponge or a cellulose sponge?
Thanks for your inspiration! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much. Do try and let me know how it goes 😁 I buy the sponges at the dollar store. They come in a pack of 12 ( I think) so they are cheap. I do wash them after use. Hope that helps
Ok thanks!
Can this technique be done with oil? thanks
Although I’ve never tried it, I don’t see why not. Please let me know how it goes if you do.
I tried to use a little amount of paint or more paint and after using sponge the paint doesn't cover the canvas. Paint looks like wiped out and I have ugly blank areas😢 do you use wet or dry sponge?
I use a dry sponge but if you’re finding it’s not covering try a very small amount water. Best of luck
Now my dishes are decorated...
😂
I’m using the same colors and brand, but all I’m getting is scratches, nothing blends. Am I using the wrong sponge? I am at a total loss😊
It could be your canvas. Try putting gesso on it and start again. Hope that helps. 😁
Do not try so hard, it comes easier!
or you can use a brooms instead of a sponge
😂😂
I love your sharing, and your painting is very interesting , but have you stop painting on youtube?
Hi! Thank you. No, I have not. I’ve just had an extremely busy summer and no time to post. But good news, new video, this Friday 😀 Thanks for watching!!
