The PS3 could emulate PS1 games. Why not the PS5? It has enough computing power to emulated both PS1 and PS2 games.

PS5 has more than enough power to run ps1 games emulated. And with so much nostalgia nowadays I can tell people would be clapping if they make this feature available

There’s a reason for that. Sony released “Playstation Classic Console” which runs ps1 games. If they made PS5 capable of running ps1 games then there’s no point of purchasing that console (I’d love it if ps5 could run ps1-ps3 games).

@@xColonel61 That classic console was a failure, plus it could not read discs. sony could easily patch it in the next firmware to allow ps5 to read ps1 discs and play them through an emulator they added to the firmware. That's wishful thinking though haha

@@TechHarvestOh by the way, I think I figured the problem why the PS5 can never recognized the PS1 CD after it takes long to load cause the disc isn’t shiny because every ps1 CD's is a black disc and the PS5 seems to like read only shiny discs. But it also knows the PS2 and PS3 discs because it’s a shiny CD and they aren’t supported to the PS5. So we can all hope Sony figures an ideas for backwards compatible especially reading the PS1 discs.

This is seriously disappointing, considering that when the PS5 was first announced, it was boasting about how it was going to be completely backwards, compatible with all previous PlayStation games, going all the way back to PS1. I guess by that they meant you will be able to download virtual versions of all the previous PlayStation generations of games. But that’s like saying that the Nintendo Wii is backwards compatible with Nintendo entertainment system games just because of virtual console.

Here, lemme save you 3 minutes of your life. It doesn't work and nothing happens. No fun error screen, no acknowledgement of it being a PS1 disk, nothing but the system telling you that it can't read it.

Ps4 and ps5 dont know how to read instant playable disks, only disks to install and check for license😅, ps1 disks had full game on it
