- Looking to improve your snowboard jibbing? This is an easy DIY snowboard box that was super easy to build.
My son is 5 years old at the time of making this video and he loves snowboarding. It’s not easy to get to the ski hill on a regular basis to practice snowboarding so I decided to build a homemade snowboard box for our backyard.
Making a snowboard box is easy and here are the materials I used. All materials can be purchased at a local hardware store such as The Home Depot.
Snowboard Box Material
(4) lengths cut to 95-3/16”
(12) lengths cut to 9”
(8) lengths cut to 12-⅞
(1) Sheet of 8’ x 4’ x ⅜” Plywood
(1) Sheet of 8’ x 4’ x 1/4” HDPE
#8 x 2-½” Screws
#10 x 3” Screws
#8 x ¾” Screws
#8 x 1-½” Screws
Silicone (Exterior)
If you are looking for how to build a snowboard box to practice your snowboard box tricks, this video shows you step by step how to build a HDPE snowboard box. HDPE is high-density polyethylene and is an excellent top surface to practice your snowboard jibbing. This is the material they use on snowboard boxes in most parks.
A snowboard box is a great beginner tool for snowboarders before you build a DIY snowboard rail as it will be easier to use and will improve balance for when you do build a backyard snowboard rail.
Building a snowboard box for your backyard is easy and a great addition to a backyard snowboard park.
If you or your kids are looking to practice their snowboard box jibs I recommend building this to practice at home. Building a snowboard box is an awesome project that is easy and if you have young kids they can help out.
All the snowboard equipment and snowsuits in this video are Burton.

Thanks for watching our snowboard box video. I am definitely not a skilled wood worker so feel free to call me out on all my mistakes. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed it and I hope it inspires you to build something you or your kids are passionate about.
First and foremost, great job on the box. I have a question? Where did you purchase your full sheets of HDPE, I can’t find those sheets anywhere, none of the big box stores carry them. Thanks a lot.
I have a question where do you purchase that Hdpe plastic
@@Gavunsendit12 Hey! I searched for a plastic supplier in my area, and came across a shop that imported various types.. check out marketplace or just Google local plastic dealer
Dope ass dad moment right here. I would’ve killed to have backyard features when I was his age. I’m 21 now and finally making a backyard park myself, thanks!
Thanks Ryan, glad you enjoyed! I totally would have killed for this as well. Just living all my childhood dreams through my kids lol. Thanks for watching!
Oh yeah nice sharing
Have a great day ahead
Hope to see you again
Thank you! See ya soon
Thank you so much for the video! I just ordered HDPE, and heading to grab wood this afternoon. My 7, 5, and 2 year old will get so much use out of this. Your vid is excellent, I really appreciate it!
Thanks for watching and glad I could help!
One thing I would do different is reduce the spacing of the screws that fasten the HDPE to the box. Over time it started to lift a bit and I think a few extra screw would prevent this.
Your kids will love it! Have fun!
Wicked snowboard box video!
Thanks for watching, glad you liked it!
This is awesome! As a fellow snowboarding Dad, you just raised the bar on what can be done at home
(pun intended) :D
Haha, thanks!! Haven't been able to set it up yet this season.. lacking snow where we live.
Have an awesome day!
Your kids are getting all kinds of cool stuff. I tried snowboarding, once. Still get headaches 20 years later, lol .
Ya they have been a bit spoiled lately. But they deserve it. Thanks for watching and get back out on that snowboard. Tylenol and Motrin!
Hahha this is awesome! I bet the kids love this!
They sure do! Bring on the snow.. in 3 months lol
Great job. Looks great
Thank you! Cheers!

Very cool project indeed. Unfortunately no snow in Florida but still fun to watch!
Yea
Thanks Steve WB! Funny, we are having crazy weather and all the snow melted. Pretty much why I had to take all my neighbors snow. Now its gone.. Gonna have palm trees here in 5 years LOL.
@@bradsprojectsandstuff Maybe the snow will come to Florida
Awesome
Thanks for watching LC!
Ur are so creative
Thanks RTA! Appreciated the suport!
No prob bro☺☺
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers Homestead!
So awesome!
This is such a cool idea to do and to have in your backyard so the kids can have fun. Can adults use this box too? Looks very sturdy and well built.
Thanks for watching. You bet adults can use it. I recommend adding extra screws down the middle of the box if older kids or adults will be using it. This will prevent it from warping. Also keep it out of the sun.
Great video.
Is it HDPE 300 or HDPE 1000?
Hey, thanks! I'm not 100% sure, but I am guessing it's the 300, which is lower grade and softer. This stuff isn't super soft but it's hard enough for this..Haven't caught any edges..
Looks like valley ridge.
Lol very close. Cougar Ridge..
HDPE is kinda pricey in my neck or the woods. Any other materials that would work?
Not really sure. I think any sheet of plastic would work.
Where did you get your HDPE from?
Local plastic dealer. I just searched marketplace and found these guys located in out industrial area
where do u get the top of the box
Hey Mark, I found this at a local plastic dealer. If you go on marketplace, Craigslist or kijiji and search HDPE plastic you might be able to find someone who carries this stuff.
were do u get the polyethylene plastic
Hey, I found a shop in our city that was importing plastic.. search ebay, Craigslist, kijiji or marketplace for a plastic dealer
Where did you purchase HDPE sheet?
I am in Calgary and found it at a small shop in our industrial area. This shop specialized in plastics and i am pretty sure they were bringing in bulk from Asia. All kinds of different lengths and thicknesses available.
Dude leaving that little rip in the table saw could kill someone if it kicks out… push it all the way through next time. Omg you are pulling sheathing through it too… safety 3rd I guess
I actually appreciate this comment. I'm definitely not a skilled wood worker so will keep this top of mind next time. Good thing I didn't die..
@@bradsprojectsandstuff Glad I can help. Cool project and I bet your kids are stoked.
All the hdpe I can find is like 40 inches
What's up Landon. I hard a hard time finding as well. Not sure where you live but try Craigslist, ebay or kijiji. I found a small shop that imports HDPE in large sheets. They were a plastic dealer
For little one thats like 6 ft jump :D
😂🤣. Right! They might actually be hitting the 6' kickers this season
Jesus christ that's a lot of work and requires some decent tools
🤣.. Well you could do it all with a utility knife and screw driver but probably take you a little longer, LOL...
