  • In this week's episode of Quick Tips, Ru outlines the uses and benefits of Grabbing Rail.
The 'Grab Rail' might be the only single technique that can increase stability, speed and style all at once, and might just be the 'get out of jail free card' to extend your rides especially in faster or steeper waves.

Best tips! This man really knows how to teach about surfing technique. He also mentioned low body flexibility, something that i struggle since i am very strong but too stiff.

I'm excited to practice this. Hopefully it will also help with my bad habit of standing too tall as soon as I pop up.

John John mostly grabs rail at pipeline still. Critical for the drop. And at chopes he will let go of the rail to get some big pumps in.

I do it sometimes, especially on the bottom turn

    • @SurfSimply

Absolutely! Anything that encourages more rail engagement and a lower stance for stability is worth doing!

I’ve got into a habit of grabbing my rail right as I’m getting up. How do I break this habit?

is it okay to do it frontside too when the board takes too much time to turn? I ride an Olaian 7' foamie (i'm a 5'4 woman) and I find it really hard to maneuver

I feel like on my log this is the only way I can really set my rail and get going on that high line.
