Usually not a fan of triangle shawls...don’t like the point along my back but still like the warmth of one on it.. flat side to side style...Searching out easy ..newbie.. rectangle , unique edge shaped wraps. Any suggestions ? My 2021 goal is to tackle a beautiful wrap for myself...a great big lightweight but warm hug. 🤗😘

I love long rectangular wraps - they are my preference too (even though it seems like triangle shawls are more popular - I always feel like the triangle is pointing at my backside 🤣 ).
If you want to give a triangle shawl a try, look for one with a shallow depth and long wingspan (like Andrea Mowry's Birds of a Feather - it has a triangle shape but is really long so doesn't feel so 'triangle-ey').
For rectangular wraps, here are a few suggestions:
Joji Locatelli's Suburban Wrap - it's like a long arrow-shaped rectangle. Simple shaping but lots of interesting textures and colors. Actually, Joji has a lot of rectangular shaped shawls that are interesting but not difficult to knit.
Clapotis (on Knitty - knitty.com/ISSUEfall04/PATTclapotis.html) - this one is really fun because you intentionally drop stitches. It's really easy to customize the shawl depth.
Ambah O'Brien also has a great collection of shawl designs (many are triangles but there are lots of bias-knit rectangles too). ambah.co/category/patterns/shawls/

Thank you for a great video. Can I start with the triangle-shape I want (a flattened (very shallow) isosceles triangle), make a swatch, do the math, and figure out the decreases or increases necessary to get the right height? Knit on!
