That's cool, I was a little skeptical after seeing the group stringing like they were with your initial two test. Maybe it's the bipod causing that. Honestly, I didn't think that the groups would come down that much in size. Glad to see it worked out. It would be interesting to see what the velocity ended up being after changing the seating depth and see where it shows up on chart from the satterlee test. Do we get to see some more shooting with this combo again.
What does JAM mean exactly? I know it involves the distance from the beginning of the rifling, or the "jump". Been hearing about that for many years. Looks like u had some great groups going. All of this info is very helpful to me. Thank you. I am planning to get a 6.5 PRC in the near future
Sound advice about doing one’s own load development. Anything sub one MOA at 500 yards is excellent. And you had several groups under 1 MOA! Enjoy the process you offer. Keep the videos coming!
Were you happy with the RL25? Can barely get any powder over here in Nz and the prices have gone through the roof, so far have used h1000, rl26, N565, all work well in my seekins Havak 6.5. Keen to get your thought on the RL25
I cannot compare to RL26 due to the fact that I have not seen that powder on a shelf for 3+ years. I was happy with RL25, but is was a bit slow in muzzle velocity. I was able to get groups 0.6moa. I am happy with that. Never used N565, but I have had good results in the past with H1000.
At 500 yards the rounds show spread that is measured and you are able to compare your groups. What if I only have a 100 yard range? Is this approach still worthwhile? What if the 100 yard groups are very close in size? Which amount of jump is best to use if that’s the case?
@@mattsreloadingbench I will Matt. I shoot 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5mm Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC. Will likely start with 6mm and let you know seating depth results
About every 300 rounds for the barrel and I clean the chamber after every shoot. The reason for the chamber is to not allow that carbon ring to build up. That can cause A LOT of issues. It is much more prevalent with the 6.5 PRC than other cartridges that I have shot.
@@mattsreloadingbench are you copper cleaning too? if not, how often are you copper cleaning? also, when you say you are cleaning the chamber, how are you doing that? swab, patch? thanks again, you are awesome!
I get everything out of the barrel with this rifle. In regards to the chamber, I put a nylon brush on my rod and scrub the chamber. I use my bore scope to verify if it is clean. If not, I keep cleaning until the carbon ring is gone. If you stay on top of it, not much effort is needed. I have found the longer you let it go and build up, it can be a real challenge.
@@brandonrenner9597 I was thinking about doing the same thing. At .038 is where it started shrinking. I would like to see if I can get the group smaller yet.

That all depends on what comes of the Retumbo loads that I am working up.

Erik Cortina has a great video to explain this. Check it out.

I think that this is a wrap for this series. I am going to start one using Retumbo next.
Thanks for watching!
@@mattsreloadingbenchLooking forward to the Retumbo series.

Watch this video. It might be able to give you some in sight as to what you can do in this situation.

Aim small hit small. You need to shoot at smaller dots. Your groups will be better. This whole test means nothing.
