there is no affiliation between progecad and myself, I spent my own real live money on a permanent standalone license.

As far as Photoshop goes, a good replacement for it is Affinity Photo. I think functionally it works about as well, except for maybe the content aware fill, which Photoshop seems to be better at overall. Although I think Affinity Photo seems to just run smoother, and faster, and doesn't crash nearly as often.
I wish they made a replacement for Lightroom, though.

Fun fact: If a company chooses not to honor product licenses it is no longer immoral* to pirate everything that company makes!
    *It remains Illegal

That's a fun idea until you are trying to sell the IP and autodask's attorneys get involved. I have a client that that mantra cost in the neighborhood of $300k. Be careful out there.

Proprietary software again ? Aren't you worried they'll just follow the same pattern as every other proprietary software vendor ? In the honeymoon phase for now, and when you're actually dependant on them, they'll monetize the relationship

Autodesk is the worst. Had been a customer since the 90's. I stopped supporting the company in 2016 after they decided that I was no longer a customer of theirs and demanding that I buy again the software that I own and had done for over 20 years. Autodesk goodbye to bad rubbish. Same with Adobe.
