    I have just started making your bunny from Friday. I think I'm going to,have to work faster because now I want to make the large eggs. I have not seen anyone else using a mould like yours, which makes it appealing. The bird is a jay!

    • @MinnieandMoore
      @MinnieandMoore  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you! A Jay! Hope he comes back. I like to make all of my projects from scratch in my own way. I don't mind other RUclipsrs copying, its a compliment to me. I love that my followers copy my work! Its what inspires me to be even more creative!! Hope you manage to catch up! A little tip is to try not let the glue touch the mould. I think my best egg was the one I layered with long strips, all overlapping neatly and then left it to dry overnight. Today I'm working on some sweet little DIY ideas for Mothers Day gifts. Might be a chance to catch up if it's not your thing :-)

      Minnie and Moore : jays are of the crow family and bury acorns in Autumn . Perhaps your visitor came back to dig one up. Word of warning, though, they do prey on nestlings and with Spring coming up it could turn nasty!! I started my Mother's Day project in February but am eager to see your ideas.

    Loved yr eggs! The feathers really added a nice touch! I have several big, old colorful maps of the world that have been on a shelve for years. Here's a great chance to use them! I don't have an egg mold but I did keep clear plastic super market packaging for 2 avocados. They're sturdy plastic, and at the time I thought what a shame to waste them esp as they don't go in the recycle bin. I think they're smaller than yr molds, but they'll do nicely. Did you include size info? Not important, really. I was going to use them to plant seeds but now Spring and yr posting have brought new possibilities, thank you. Here in the countryside near Paris violent windstorms and hail have cut down my early tulips but all the primroses on the lawn are absolutely gorgeous. My neighbor's chickens sound so happy to be alive and so am I. Happy Spring and joyeuse crafting to everyone where you are.

      @@MinnieandMoore that's o.k. I guess you could accomplish the same thing by putting plastic wrap on the outside of an egg of your choice and doing the decoupage over that (instead of on the inside.) There are always egg shapes available this time of year that are 2 halves that maybe have toys or other candies in them. Great idea, though.

    • @Em22-wtf
      @Em22-wtf 5 лет назад

      @@carlamhaight if you are in the US and have a Dollar Tree near by... I found these large eggs (they are about 8 inches tall, and about 5.5 inches wide) at the Dollar Tree. They were on the shelf with the Easter decor, kind of where they had boxes, and baskets for kids. The top half is clear and round, and the bottom has a flat spot in it and colored (the ones I grabbed were purple). The bottom is taped inside the top, and it has Easter decorated tape on both sides, and it's called, literally lol, "Egg Container"... But, it's what I'm using now, and so far, so good. I'm not sure it'll pop out, which is what brought me to the comment section, lol! Anyway, I hope this helps! Just be careful, bc they also have the clear top egg container that BOTH sides have a flat spot, but on the ones I'm using, the top does not. Also, if you have more than 1 dollar tree and don't find them at one, try another. I didn't see these at all the Dollar Trees I went to recently, only 1 or 2 had them (I live about 10-15 min driving distance from 5 of them, lol!).

I hope I can get it out! Lol! Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • @Em22-wtf
    @Em22-wtf 5 лет назад +1

    Ahh, I left a question, but in the wrong spot!! But, I'm having a bit of a hard time.
    I'll just ask here in case anyone else is having the same problem... I couldn't get the paper strips to stay Inside the mold, they just kept popping up, not staying in place, moving, etc.. I finally had to just glue the strips to the inside of the mold. But, you say in the video not to get it inside the mold.... I haven't tried to get it out yet, bc I'm still layering, lol, I'm just hoping I can get it out once it dries a bit more.
    Do you have this problem at all? Or do you have any suggestions on how you got the paper to stay inside the mold, without it moving, or popping up, or curling upward? Or did u just glue the first layer with a little tiny bit of glue to the mold, and bc its plastic, maybe it pop out once it's dry? I also used mod podge bc I have a huge container of it, and only wood glue or the tacky craft glue and I don't think either of those would work... But maybe those are better for the 1st layer? Lol... Help! 😉😕
    Anyway, love this, and hope my already started egg comes out of the mold, haha! Thanks for the tutorial and any other suggestions you may have for my paper moving problem! Lol!

    • @MinnieandMoore
      @MinnieandMoore  5 лет назад +1

      Hi, and thank you for your message. It's great that people are trying out my ideas. As far as removing the egg from the mould, don't worry if it doesn't come out perfectly. Just slowly peel it out. At worst, some paper might stick to the inside of the mould, but as long as the paper is a good 4/5 layers thick, it won't matter. You can easily tidy it up once you get it out as the shape will hold quite easily. This happened to one of my eggs as I glued the first layer of paper straight into the mould. You will find that the paper will dry out much quicker if you remove it from the mould before its fully dry. As far as layering the strips, I tried a few different options but what worked the best for me was to use long strips for the first layer overlapping them by about halfway over each over. I brushed a thin layer of glue to the first strip, then placed it in the mould lengthways and glue side up. Then lay the second strip overlapping the first strip. The paper should want to stick to each other, but the first few pieces are the trickiest. It takes a little time, but once the first layer is complete, you don't have to be as careful with the other layers. Hope this helps a little! :-)

    • @Em22-wtf
      @Em22-wtf 5 лет назад +1

      @@MinnieandMoore Oh awesome! Thank you so much! I just glued it right to the mold, haha! But, mod podge actually doesn't stick THAT well to plastic, and I kept lifting it on the sides a few times during the drying, then once it dried enough to pull it out, I just kept working it out, and it gave without ripping. I was surprised! Lol! Then, overnight it dried to be SOO hard!! I was completely surprised! I was actually going to use this egg...for the bunny bottom, lol! I think what Ill have to do is use both molds at the same time, pull them out, and then indent or flatten the bottoms so I can use them for the bunny bottom,
      But, I absolutely love how these look with just sheet music I have...they are beautiful books I grabbed for like $3 for the whole set. The guy owns a local music shop and he said he got them from his piano teacher before she passed. She was in her 90s, and these books were part of her collection in her library when she taught music at Harvard here in Massachusetts! They are from 1918 Modern Music and Musicians, Compositions For Piano, by The University Society (Philharmonic Edition)...I have n idea what all that means, but when the guy I bought them from told me where he got them, and MANY other books from her collection and he didn't have room for them all, I told him I'd only craft with them. He said well there ya go, take em ALL for $3 (thats what he had on one, lol) He figured the more uses, the more they'll be seen and enjoyed! Ive made Christmas ornaments, etc...and people love how the projects look with the paper! I've only cut up one so far, lol! I noticed some people get alll upset over cutting up old sheet music, but it's really just sitting unseen, and appreciated, on a old dusty shelf, so like the man said to me...Craft away with it, beats hiding the contents in a closed book on a shelf!
      Thanks again! Ill be trying the next set with less glue to the mold, and flattening the bottom a bit! Lol! Fingers crossed! Love your chnl. by the way!

      Well done, sounds like your doing great! A little patience always pays. What a fascinating story about the old music books! Thank you for helping Cindy out with some suggestions about where to get the old paper from. I was in a charity shop yesterday just having a mooch round when I spotted a big old thick music book on the shelf with Mozart on the front. I wanted it for display mainly as the book was a really nice aged tan colour. I took it to the till to ask the price and the little old dear said £20! I put it back. Would probably have paid £5 for it. Keep up the easter crafting! Would love to see the finished work!! :-)
