Emppu always plays what the song needs, nothing more or less and in this song with his finger tapping it's still fit the song perfectly and that is why i and many more fans love him🎸🎸🤘💥💯

Jukka was a beast on the drums for a reason. Marko is a chameleon, everything he works in he makes better without people noticing.

    "What was that???"
That was the relationship between a Valkyrie and a Viking, being torn asunder.
    Romanticide.
I love the way the sound crew kicks in the 2-repeat delay right as Floor crests the top of her glissando... as she lets the pitch fall off that D6, she times the pitch drop to the delay interval and it results in a nice gliss-down In Harmony with herself.... to me, its very Brighton Rocks (Brian May).

Your vocal commentary is so correct. Marko adds depth and fullness to Floor's stratospheric vocals. I think it is all Jukka. Loved it my friend. Great to see you again.

That dual harmonic slide at the end will NEVER get old
And yes. Emppu can SHRED when it makes sense for him to shred. Watch Elvenjig/Elvenpath Buenos Aires 2018 if you want to see exactly how hard he can go.
If you want to see how good he is, I'm not sure if you've done High Hopes, but if you havnt:
a:) That will show you exactly how great Marco is as a vocalist, and
B.) Emppu channelling and paying tribute to Gilmore on that will show you exactly what he's capable of.

To see and hear Emppu at his best you really should check out their tribute performance of Pink Floyd's High Hopes. It is mind blowingly good. It was at this concert that they gave Tarja the goodbye letter. You can visibly see the pain in their faces and performance. Marko sings lead and is superb.

"What Was That??? 🤣. That!, was just a little 3 octave glissando by Floor in tandem with Marko's 2 octaves, no big deal, just another day at the office. lol. And that was song # 11 in this concert (in a 15 song set). Romanticide comes from the 2004 album Once, Tarja era, the album version only had his slide.
Emppu is perfectly capable of really shredding, but doesn't do a lot with Nightwish. He , and the entire band, play what the song needs. As Marko once said, they don't feel the need to m@$terb*t# with their instruments. Yeah Marko and Floor always sounded great together. He has the ability to sound great singing with just about anyone. Jukka was a beast back there, fortunately they found another awesome drummer in Kai when Jukka stepped down.

Other symphonic metal bands take a metal song and perform it in a symphonic style. Nightwish starts with a symphonic score and performs it in a metal style. As you said you have to pay attention when you hear them.

Lots to agree with here sir!
Emppu is a guitar GOAT in my view and under recognised. He plays what is needed and plays it superbly.
He can shred if the music needs it but,bas you implied, most music doesn't actually need that and it's put in to show off.
Emppu doesn't need to show off. So he does what is needed and plays lyrical, melodic solos, short and sweet usually but note his guitar has no tone controls - he's not even messing with controls.
He shreds in Gethsemane and others and his performance in the 2005 High Hopes tribute shows what he can do.
Every member of this band, though, is a masterpiece of their craft.
Marco is a phenomenal bassist as well as singer. I put him in the top of metal male vocalists in the company of RJD.
But watch him in Piet and the Pendulum when he is singing a lead vocal and playing amazing bass at the same time, his hand all over the length of the neck .
Jukka is fantastic as we all know; Kai is just as good but with a different style. Amongst the top drummers.
As for Tuomas, what can one say? Superb keyboard player and the source of all this music.
Troy is not in this performance but is a masterpiece of many instruments.
    Floor we all know about.
The metre changes are common in Tuomas' compositions. Watch out for them - they are there even in Ghost Love Score - odd beats dropped and hard to tell exactly what the change is.
    Nice analysis - thank you.

Hi! Yes you got it, Jukka and his feet, and Emppu as you said always serves the song. Kai Hahto, the drummer after Jukka have to leave
Nightwish for his insomnia, so Kai said that you don´t play because you CAN, but because you serve the song. As you´ve noticed Nightwish
is a band with talented musicians leaded by a Queen of any music; Floor Jansen. Tuomas is a genius who creates 95% of all you hear, or see
on the stage they play. Thank you. Greets from Finland.

    Thanks for the reaction!
It's lovely to see someone who really understands and appreciates the nuances to dig into it.
Jukka and Emppu are beasts, but people who don't really understand musical things deeply often miss it because no one shows off, just plays exactly what the song needs.
Emppu's superpower is being able to play in very various styles, also *different* kind of difficult things in solos depending on the song, check for example High Hopes (Pink Floyd cover, End of an Era DVD) where he manages to do a tribute to David Gilmore by *two* solos that are both excellent, pay homage to the original and are still very much his own. And he's the only person playing electric guitar in a band known for a massive sound and it never sounds like there's not enough guitar. His high capability to serve the songs perfectly just means he does not stand out, because there's just the right amount of guitar, just in the right style.
Floor is obviously very versatile and can switch styles like others take breath, but Marko is no slouch either. For example in the Poet and the Pendulum he goes from extremely raw metal scream barking to singing super soft backing harmonies for Floors velvety lines later in the song. Most people don't even notice, because he's so perfectly in the correct pocket there.
For Kai, their current drummer, there are some drumcam videos available, but unfortunately not for Jukka. Jukka had to step down due to health problems and he hired is former teacher to replace him. Kai is equally excellent, but in a bit different ways. On their level personality and stylistic preferences often play a big role, because they are not just playing a beat, but bringing in whatever percussive needs the song has, often intuitively.
Thanks again, this was a pleasure to watch!

When it comes to guitar solos Emppu is a min/maxer. And no, that's all Jukka. His drumming is not like normal humans. I think it was a combination of his double-bass and a really low tom. At the very ending he's alternating between hitting on the beat and hitting in between it. In my opinion, one of their most complex songs.

Glad to see more Nightwish as always, they're just so good. On another note if you're genuinely curious about highly technical extremely fast drum technique I'd recommend drum playthrough videos of Austin Archey or Evgeny Novikov. It sounds like you'll see things in both that you might be unfamiliar with.

When it comes to meter changes and keeping your ears on their toes, you can't beat Jinjer. I believe you've reacted to Pisces and Perennial, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. The intro to their song Home Back will test your beat-counting skills, and then the rest of the song takes you on a roller coaster ride in your feels. Would love to see you react to more of them!

Emppu going off? "Crownless" and "Fantasmic" (all three parts)! Marko's voice - "High Hopes"! and more Emppu agility! Jukka, here on drums, is still with Nightwish in marketing and management! (he had two bass pedals and one of those pedals had two hammers! You can hear some wild fast bass on other tracks) Emppu also played with the band "Brother Firetribe" - like a Finnish Bon Jovi and he goes off there too! anything from "Live at the Apollo". oh, yeah - that D3 - G6 and back gliss!

Parallel perfects were not permitted. Not perfect intervals in general.
