I'm from BC and have only been diving a few times. Been lucky enough to see a lot of flora and fauna though! I've been watching a lot of your videos recently and your passion has really inspired me in terms of diving and otherwise. Thank you!
@@BlueWorldTVJonathan I think sea stars have tentacles which are linked to a very basic nervous system which is not as complex as sand worms since they do have brains, but their tentacles connected to the nervous system are thought to detect light so I guess that’s how they find their way around
Its amazing how you found a brittle star walking around during broad daylight. That sea cucumber was so lucky intuitive in escape performance coverage. What a generous luck separated? Yes, those bluish linkys are fun related. I mentioned about a personal story with one of them. In my other comments of another video. Thanks for such videos. It shows and tells us so much more we get to wonder about. 🐙
Sea stars are such effective hunters and voracious carnivores. They are effective because their tiny tube feet have small suction mechanisms that can build enough pressure to tear open an urchin shell to suck the nice juicy insides which is the Bat star’s favorite food
+Deathcap Rabadon (Deathcap9087) It's a brand of dry suit made by Diving Unlimited International. But of course when the suit leaks we causally refer to it as Dry Until Immersed. LOL
Yes, one of more than 1700 different species. That one looks like a Parastichopus californicus (Giant California Sea Cucumber, which -- despite the name -- is found on the Pacific coast from Alaska to Mexico).
I just had to give an instant thumb up as soon as I saw a sea star on Jonathan's head.

Do you sometimes get scared when meeting dangerous aquatic animals or are you ((always)) fascinated by them?
Definitely not scared but fascinated.

Hi Jonathan. How do predatory sea stars (like the northern sea star) find food since they don't have eyes or a brain?
Mostly by smell I think.
