    I voluntarily chose to stop eating Octopus & Cuttlefish due to their intelligence & I humbly suggest all us marine lovers do the same. The fact that they are the smartest invertebrates should be treasured. Thank you for your wonderful channel. It is a great educational resource about our beautiful wet planet & its great for kids!

      To me that would be like cannibalism. They are amazing creatures. I think if they lived longer they would be many times smarter than us.

      I got to the same conclusion since yesterday when I started to do some research over octopus animals.

    • @MariaIsabel_Fufuria
      @MariaIsabel_Fufuria 2 года назад +5

      Humans are significantly more intelligent than any lifeform on earth, which is why we have the cognition to supposedly take care of others, form technological advancement and space travel, the ability to understand the cosmos, cultures, art, sciences, self-expression, fashion, create businesses, program software, etc., something animals don't have. But we have absolutely no qualms in murdering each other, even the little/unborn ones. The irony and apathy of mankind towards itself is so depressing.
      Animals know by instinct that they are predators for some and prey for others - everything they do is for survival of their species alone. An octopus doesn't feel remorse when it eats its prey...neither do sharks, dolphins, and eels, when they hunt and eat octopuses/octopi.
      But ofcourse to each his own.

    • @silberfuchsag4746
      @silberfuchsag4746 2 года назад +3

      @@MariaIsabel_Fufuria That's right, and animals kill mostly when they are hungry or have to compete against a rival when it comes to mating. All that is driven by instinct.
      Only humans kill others or animals for fun, "sports" or profit. Hunters hang trophies of their "victims" upon walls. Men torture other animals for entertaining. The military abused dolphins to search for sea mines and little monkeys for land mines. The list goes on.
      I'm really not a PETA guy or something but the abuse of animals throughout history just because we can is another aspect we shouldn't forget. And I don't mean a horse doing farm work in ancient times. I think more of the conditions for animals in circus shows, theme parks, some older zoos, tamed wild animals in private possession a.s.o. All of this gets better as we overcome our former habits and care more for animals. But we really cannot be proud of ourselves if we think of what we have done in the past.
      The most horrific thing for me ist the illegal hunting of elephants to get their ivory teeth. One of the most precious animals of today's world is endangered of becoming extinct just because some asian guys still think they can get a hard-on from taking the pulverised ivory.

      If you ever get a chance to visit, it's well worth the price of admission. If you're there at GPO feeding time, a staffer will often climb into the tank and sit up on the rock, using a pole to hand small bits of food to the octopuses while telling the crowd gathered around the base of the tank (with young children sitting on the carpet up front and center) all about them. There's also an open-top shallow tide pool where you can reach in and touch some of the creatures living there, which is really cool.

      I’ve been to that aquarium. There was a sign by the octopus tank that said, “no flash photography.” Of course, people weren’t paying attention, and the octopus wouldn’t come out of its den. My friends were getting anxious to move on to the next exhibit. Having been a fan of the octopus as long as I remember, I told them I was not leaving until I saw an octopus. They left. Everyone left. I was standing there alone when I saw tentacle after tentacle reach out from within the den and feel around before it emerged completely. It was great! I think we shared a moment.
