The closest thing we have to understand what losing the Khala means to the Protoss is the internet. Imagine that one day we have to shut down the internet and can't use it anymore. We would feel isolated from the rest of the world.
Well, from an existential perspective, our everyday human experience is the best way to understand what it means to not be united through the Khala. Every other human being is unreachable; we only ever scratch the surface when we socialize. We are "individualized" and always alone in this sense. Whereas with the Khala, the Protoss are granted access to everything else we miss out on - the depths of each other's memories and emotions. So what Karax and Artanis were describing was actually a very human feeling of isolation.
I know, but since we don't have such a thing as the Khala, the internet would be the closest thing, even though it doesn't let us read each others minds from across the galaxy.
I always thought the Khala did not allow them to freely read each others mind unless they trained to it and concentrate. The main purpose was to read each other emotions so that they can understand each other. The preservers can read every emotions, thoughts and memories because they are trained to do so ; the others can communicate with telepathy and uses this and not the Khala in order to do so.
Lowko: "You killed him, Artanis!" That's not fair. Amon killed Zeratul, not Artanis. Artanis was basically a puppet with no control of his own body. Amon was the puppet-master pulling the strings.
You are correct Lowko, every Protoss on the Spear of Adun was in stasis since the days of Adun when the ships were created. The Arkships furthermore were created for the exact reason Artanis is using them now: to save the Protoss in the most dire hour in the face of extinction and not earlier.
Nah, not "every"... Artanis ordered the protoss from his base to warp in the Spear of Adun in the last mission (just after he activate the last stasis lock) and consider this, there is no reason for the Nerazim to be in stasis in the Spear of Adun, so the stalkers definitely came in with Artanis and Karax...
It is also said that you can do whatever you want. You can consider that the Dark Templar gave the technology to make Stalkers and then the forge started creating them. What we see is just a walkaround where Karax show Artanis the possibilities given by the Arkship.
Something more amazing is the accuracy of the Spear of adun. Did you see how far it was shooting from and all the ships they had to avoid in space, and it still did it perfectly honest Target. It's not like the platform sitting still in space it's orbiting the planet
He is not really a Dark Templar before ... Spoiler . . . . . . . Going to Shakuras and taking the ritual of the Dark Templar. But I guess he uses it in the sake of his friend. When the mission of Zeratul, fallen upon him by his death, will be finished I guess he will be able to put his Psi-blade at rest too.
I love how their ship is just open to space, because they've got such reliable shields they have had no reason to worry about enclosing themselves within a hull.
That was my thought too. If I was born being able to read minds, and everyone was reading my mind since I was born, there would be nothing strange about it. It would be weird NOT being able to read minds.
But the Khala was created in order to unite the Protoss so it is not 'real' nor from the begining of time. It's why there is the Dark Templar and it is also why there is the Tal d'arim.
The Protoss didn't have the Khala from the start. It was Amon who tinkered with their race and created their nerve cords as a means to control the Protoss like the Overmind to the Zerg.
Nah, if you want to blame the british for stealing from french just look at the "german" words in the english language (eisberg (Eisberg), doppelganger (Doppelgänger) just to name a few). So lets just blame french for being french. Thats way easier
Someone told me once that English is really equivalent to 3 midgets sitting on top of one another inside a trench coat. You think you're getting one language, but you're really getting a muddled version of various ones. :P
Sentries would help, but all he needs in Shakuras are Khyderin Monoliths and Shield Batteries (and photon Cannons). He did screw it up here because he refused to build static defenses /watch?v=UwoZWbs7VN0
martianunlimited I'm thinking more for unlocking the SoA's first passive ability. Blowing Shakurus off as long as possible can get you Nexus Overcharge, auto gas, and warp harmonization. I'm sure Lowko would have a bit of fun with campaign's version of Nexus overcharge on a defensive map.
Did a quick check of comments before writing this. Despite some responses: Corp. is actually derived from the Latin word "Corpus" meaning body, and was used primarily in a military context, thus body of the army, meaning not the auxiliary or logistics and support groups. Also am currently watching your playthrough from the very beginning and whilst occasionally makes me twitch it is awesome. Keep up the great content!!!!
If Skyshield downfall is 10 minutes, and Korhal have similar gravity with earth (rounded to 10m/s2). For a full minutes means Skyshield is going down for about 600 meter if no Terran/Protoss force repairing the stabilizer, for 10 minute it means Skyshield going to impact, then the height of skyshield orbiting is 600 x 10 which is 6000 meter or 6 KM (3.72 Miles), which is about half the usual commercial flight height. Lowko lowest time before impact is 1m53s which is 113 second, that means Skyshield is only 1130 meter (3707.5 feet) before impact, which is similar in height with the currently constructed jeddah tower (3307 feet)
I don't that math is correct. You're calculating using velocity instead of acceleration. E.g. after 10 seconds, Skyshield should be falling 100 m faster (assuming the repairs don't reduce that acceleration).
S(distance)=(a×t(sqaured))/2, so for 5min drop on 1G(9,81ms-2) drop distance would be 441,45km or 274miles. Taking into account that gravity is the same(it is little lower) and no drag from atmosphere(there is a lot).
As I recall correctly, max freefall speed of human is around 50m/s due to air resistance. Platform, being flat shouldn't fall faster then that. Distance = 600 seconds * 50 = 30000 = 30 km
Lowko do remember that seeker missiles have friendly fire at this point, always try and run stuff into their units if they get a bunch and can't outright escape! always satisfying blowing up a group of marines with their own missiles
This is an amazing mission in its design. You can target any the Stabilizers in any order you want, and the others react. As a bonus you can clear out 2 of Mobius Corps' Bases and Raynor will build bases and assist you with a few units, it is just a shame the mission is so short.
You should read Rohanna's short story on the official site, about what motivated the construction of the Arkships and the three sister's relationship and personalities. It does a very good job of introducing what the golden age Protoss society was like.
Lowko, when you use centurions you need to make more of them. The biggest downfall of zealots is that they get trapped inside of units. Centurions pass through units so they can be deployed in mass numbers without being bottle necked. Your dragoons are tripping over each other because you really only need 1 for every 1.5-2 centurions.
I believe the non-zealot protoss on the Spear of Adun are survivors from Auir that Artanis managed to save from Amon's control. Some of them appear to either be civilians or Judicator caste. Later on high templar become available, and I believe they are also hanging out on the ship until they are introduced in the campaign.
James Raynor, your human SCVs are speaking terran. This is a protoss vessel and I demand they speak khalai! *process to delete terran language option from Spear of Adun website*.
Is that all? i need more man. just finished all lowko's campaign play through in 3 days! its very hilarious. spitty bois and jimmy boi and dont forget the Gas geyser Lowko!
lmao yeah I watched his LOTV play-through about half way, then saw that he was doing the whole thing from the beginning and figured I'd hop on the train and get the full story, as I watched play-throughs of WoL and HotS a very long time ago and I'd like a refresher anyway. But yes he was watching cutscenes in his other upload of this campaign
I think what he meant is that he skipped all the cutscenes the last time he played the campaign. He mentioned that the first time he played WoL and HotS he focused solely on gameplay and glossed over the story.
Last time he uploaded LOTV campaign on youtube was in late 2015, he watched all the cutscenes then, it's less than 3 years ago, I don't know how did he already forgot everything.
He did the same for WoL and HotS playthrough, he said he "skipped the cutscenes" when he didn't, after someone mentioned it in a comment he made the old playthroughs private lol
Centurion and Dragoon ? Excellent choice. Usually, Zealots are strong against Zerg (those zerglings don't take long to die) but synergize better with Stalkers and a good macro. Those Dragoons are effective, but have a very big hitbox and bodyblock everything. Zealots take times to go around while Centurion simply phase through.
I always go to Shakuras first to pick up DTs. DTs are OP vs anything on the ground, they make a lot of missions easier. And "that" cutscene soooo badass. For me, I use stalkers in the early missions then switch to dragoons sometime late in the campaign.
No-one was working on the arkships while they were in storage; each one was basically a planet-busting time capsule of the protoss at their highest moment.
Karax saved our great new ship, and he's going to be really helpful in managing all that solarite. But I do feel sorry that like Isha, he'll never truly find a nose that fits him.
Lowko, I have a challenge for you, ( if you choose to play the trilogy again). It is called a vanilla walkthrough ( no armory upgrade or research in WoL, no Zerg mutations, evolution paths or Kerrigan abilities in HotS and no choosing Protoss faction and only choose the 0 solar Ute systems with no auxiliary systems.) on Brutal difficulty.
Lowko. The Bombardment you can cancel at anytime when you dont have good targets and dont waste all of them on one or two, spread them out. i think one shot is more than enough to handle a seige tank
FYI, there's two bases on this map that if you clear out, Jim will end up taking them over and spit out a few troops to help. It's not useful but it's a fun incentive to clean out excess Mobious forces.
Dragoons in the campaign already have Singularity Charge. Pretty much every unit in the campaign are fully upgraded (all abilities and talents unlocked).
Every one on the ship was in stasis until you lowered the ship up, it was like hiding weapons to never be used until the Protoss was in danger of extinction.
If you are using blink zealots put them behind dragoons so they get free shots before the stuns (They blink through units). But try out the whirlwind ones they are insane!
I'm glad you like the cutscenes and the dialogue and all of that. But even if I like Protoss, man, they like to talk and talk and talk... Sometimes I was like "shut up already and let's start the mission". Those guys dont' have a mouth but they like to chat a little too much.
@LowkoTV if you want all the bonus obj don't go to the shakuras next let it by the last mission available and then you can do the bonus on brutal in shakuras missions
Surely I'm not the only one noticing that Lowko isn't using chrono boost for upgrades or non-probe production. Well, he'll probably remember chrono boost when he sees the solar core upgrades. Probably...
The reason why dragoons were so powerful was because they outclassed pretty much every ground unit except reavers and siege tanks in terms of damage, range, and health.
Lowko, you failed hidden objectives: if you take out Moebius' outposts between 3rd and 4th stabilizer and 2nd and 5th one, Raynor will deploy his outposts to make stabilizer liberation attempts easier for you.
Love your vids man, just wanna make a suggestion on using the dragoon since unlike stalkers, they aren't as mobile, so you don't wanna have a whole bunch of them attack moving since their range is their main asset (they outrange bunkers and I think pokey boys), rather the bulk of your forces should be zealots to tank the dmg while the dragoons fire away from afar. You don't have to micro dragoons since they pretty much stay out of range. Just a tactic used since sc1.
You can micro dragoon with the target fire cuz their projectiles take a long time to reach if you attack move you'll lose a few hits and the same strategy applies to reavers
I like to use the Whirlwind Zealots over the Centurions because Whirlwind is very good at dealing with hordes, something my other units usually have trouble with
For a planet with massive cities clearly visible from space the Korhal should have way more than 8 billion inhabitants. The planet is even as big as Earth but has fewer oceans. the population should rather be around 15 billion or more if you ask me.
es, I do remember. They made a big deal about how Jim and Valerian save the civilian population. So the casualities should have gone into the millions, but not beyond that.
going with the shielded stalkers is a better way to go. As much as I liked dragoons from broodwar Stalkers are way better because you can brink them forward and backward while getting a small shield bonus. I also chose centurians just make sure you get enough of them and use them a lot for defense against ground units.
There is a moment in one of the Dark Templar books where a group of terrans are connected through the khala and the experience is so overwhelming that they can't even function. So yeah, probably good you don't have that sort of connection. Also the Dark Templar trilogy is another set of books worth reading.
The closest thing we have to understand what losing the Khala means to the Protoss is the internet. Imagine that one day we have to shut down the internet and can't use it anymore. We would feel isolated from the rest of the world.
Does that mean Protoss is like Skynet?
True af :p 😂😂😂
Well, from an existential perspective, our everyday human experience is the best way to understand what it means to not be united through the Khala. Every other human being is unreachable; we only ever scratch the surface when we socialize. We are "individualized" and always alone in this sense. Lowko Sees the spear of adun - "In awe at the size of this lad. Absolute unit.”
Lowko: "You killed him, Artanis!"
That's not fair. Amon killed Zeratul, not Artanis. Artanis was basically a puppet with no control of his own body. Amon was the puppet-master pulling the strings.
hes gonna continute saying that, even though you have a point
You are correct Lowko, every Protoss on the Spear of Adun was in stasis since the days of Adun when the ships were created. The Arkships furthermore were created for the exact reason Artanis is using them now: to save the Protoss in the most dire hour in the face of extinction and not earlier.

Oh, I meant the Protoss on board before Artanis with his templar came. Those that came with him weren't in stasis of course.
It actually seems like the solar forge can build stalkers itself, so I don't think they're all leftovers from the invasion gone sour.
It is also said that you can do whatever you want. You can consider that the Dark Templar gave the technology to make Stalkers and then the forge started creating them. What we see is just a walkaround where Karax show Artanis the possibilities given by the Arkship.

James cossey That's Protoss tech for yah
Did you notice, that Artanis now uses Zeratuls Psi-blade on his right hand?
He certainly won't miss it when he fights in that one cutscene.
well, since he severed his nerve cords, he is a dark templar now, i guess he can use them
He is not really a Dark Templar before ... Spoiler

Going to Shakuras and taking the ritual of the Dark Templar. But I guess he uses it in the sake of his friend. When the mission of Zeratul, fallen upon him by his death, will be finished I guess he will be able to put his Psi-blade at rest too.
The Blade that saved his Ass. Damn straight he is going to use it.
_Warp_ Blade, and yes. Sorry. Force of habit of mine to be technical.
I love how their ship is just open to space, because they've got such reliable shields they have had no reason to worry about enclosing themselves within a hull.
I like to think the protoss dont need air to breath, considering they dont seem to have any nostrils or anything similar
Dragoons actually outrange bunkers, so stutter stepping forward is less effective in some cases
With his army composition he should have let the dragoon in front to. The Centurion would have crippled unwanted ennemy unit.
If the Khala was real from the beginning of time it wouldn't have been weird or anything to read each other's minds
That was my thought too. If I was born being able to read minds, and everyone was reading my mind since I was born, there would be nothing strange about it. It would be weird NOT being able to read minds.

The Protoss didn't have the Khala from the start. It was Amon who tinkered with their race and created their nerve cords as a means to control the Protoss like the Overmind to the Zerg.
Spoiler alert ! This will be revealed later in the campain
This is pretty much true for everything. If we never started using clothes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Just FYI: There is a Terran base in the top left and bottom right, if you destroy them then Raynor will land a base there and support you.
@lowko apperently the Probe that you encounter on the Speer of Adun is indeed Probius
Apparently that thing he called a probe isnt a probe. Its a Servitor
dragoons learned how to walk!!!!! thats so satisfying.
Corps spelled like that is a loanword from French, so blame them.
Story of the English language. One word from this language, another from that language.
Shouldnt I blame the british people, who stole it from the french?
Nah, if you want to blame the british for stealing from french just look at the "german" words in the english language (eisberg (Eisberg), doppelganger (Doppelgänger) just to name a few). So lets just blame french for being french. Thats way easier
Loanword is a calque from french.
Someone told me once that English is really equivalent to 3 midgets sitting on top of one another inside a trench coat. You think you're getting one language, but you're really getting a muddled version of various ones. :P
Aw, man...I was hoping you'd go to Glacis and get Fenix first. You get extra dialogue concerning Raynor if Fenix is present.
Cynical Aspie hopefully, he can still Throw down with the best of them
Hopefully he fetches Fenix right after Korhal if only so he can play the Shakurus missions at max power.
Same. I even commented that during the prologue missions. The conversations with fenix on korhal are pretty sweet.
Sentries would help, but all he needs in Shakuras are Khyderin Monoliths and Shield Batteries (and photon Cannons). He did screw it up here because he refused to build static defenses /watch?v=UwoZWbs7VN0

Fun fact: Rohana's voice actor is also Aela the Huntress, and Ivanova from Babylon 5.
It seems she's typecast as wise but vicious leader lady a lot :D
Pilots of the walkers in SC1 were drunk okay? Leave them alone!
you say that like the ones in sc2 isnt tipsy :P
Lowko's kid in a candy shop reaction to everything that happens has got to be one of my favorite things in recent memory.
I really hope that Lowko will remember to make the enemies dance
Edit: yes he remembered that you can make them dance
You can do that?
Yes ,he did it
yay he did^^
what? where?
17:11
28:44 *Dragon army gets back*
Lowko: my army has finally returned
I see what you did there
This objective here is super unique. There are 5 places that you need to clear out, and you face harder resistance as time goes on.
Either this or sleep... you already know.
For Aiur!
My eyeballs, for Aiur!
Justin Thompson my wife for hire!@@
Literally the half of this video is Blizzard cinematics & voice lines in the Spear of Adun..... I love it....

I don't that math is correct. You're calculating using velocity instead of acceleration. E.g. after 10 seconds, Skyshield should be falling 100 m faster (assuming the repairs don't reduce that acceleration).

also, the timer may not be before impact, but may be before Skyshield is too low for the stabilizers to prevent further fall anymore
"I have returned!" *nerdgasms*
Please keep this series running to the end it has become a nightly routine for me to watch the most recent before bed!
20:38 Science Vessel: 'Ah hell fricken GOONS are back? Nah I'm out...'
6 billion is for Korhal, not Earth. Earth in the SC lore has 23 billion steadily rising
Metroid didnt kerrigan kill a few billion due to soldiers, along with the battlecriusers
Most SC terrans arent military personnel.
hearing the protoss talking about isolation in 2020...... i feel ya artanis.
I like how that Karax conversation during mission sometime have the chance to break the 4th wall
Lowko do remember that seeker missiles have friendly fire at this point, always try and run stuff into their units if they get a bunch and can't outright escape! always satisfying blowing up a group of marines with their own missiles
I can't wait another two days for another one of these videos!!!!! This is why Lowko is my favorite RUclipsr..... He keeps cliffhangers
Caila Archibeque
He's already played through the whole LotV campaign and uploaded it to RUclips. These are all faked reactions.
This moment when you have first orbital strike at 19:55 is FANTASTIC.
This is an amazing mission in its design. You can target any the Stabilizers in any order you want, and the others react. As a bonus you can clear out 2 of Mobius Corps' Bases and Raynor will build bases and assist you with a few units, it is just a shame the mission is so short.

I always get goosebumps when they enter Spear of Adun.
Lowko dying off multiple times because he doesn't beleive in static defense always manages to make my day
I like that you start high up in space, but at the end of the mission you can see Augustgrad beneath the platform.
Lowko, when you use centurions you need to make more of them. The biggest downfall of zealots is that they get trapped inside of units. We're gonna make a planetary shield... And the Zerg are gonna pay for it!
Surprised Lowko chose dragoons. Upgraded stalkers seemed right up to his alley.
7:18 Actually, Raynor collected the artifact because Tychus offered him the job to do so. Zeratul didn't become a factor until later.
I feel for the Protoss. Without the Internet, I would be dead inside within days.
I don't know if you notice , but Artanis have the warp blade of Zeratul on his right arm.
Lowko talking about skipping cutscenes when he didn't in the last walkthrough and actually just forgot :P
lmao yeah I watched his LOTV play-through about half way, then saw that he was doing the whole thing from the beginning and figured I'd hop on the train and get the full story, as I watched play-throughs of WoL and HotS a very long time ago and I'd like a refresher anyway. Really? No more his previous LoTV?
Its a great detail that Artanis is now using Zeratul's weapon
“Aiur has fallen from amon” The way lowko said it, I’m pretty sure lowko was trying to imitate a sentient being xD

No-one was working on the arkships while they were in storage; each one was basically a planet-busting time capsule of the protoss at their highest moment.
YES! I just clicked a vid I thought was campaign and got sad when it wasn't. BUT HERE YOU ARE YOU BEAUTY :D
Karax saved our great new ship, and he's going to be really helpful in managing all that solarite.
But I do feel sorry that like Isha, he'll never truly find a nose that fits him.

Sami117
You need 2 shots to kill a marine with combat shield.
Hey Lowko. If you didn't notice it yet Artanis is wearing Zeratuls blade
Damh lowko how can you be amazed by something that you have already done
i always loved to do this misson with dark templars, with the upgrade they melt bio terran and its so satisfying lol
FYI, there's two bases on this map that if you clear out, Jim will end up taking them over and spit out a few troops to help. It's not useful but it's a fun incentive to clean out excess Mobious forces.
"I return to serve! Hierarch Lowko, our Barriers are auto-casted when shields are depleted and start taking direct hits." says the Immortal.
Dragoons in the campaign already have Singularity Charge.
Pretty much every unit in the campaign are fully upgraded (all abilities and talents unlocked).
Lowko- 4 mind isn't a lot of time. Also lowko- 5 minutes? Gogogo we have no time left
I think you were on sky shield once, when Kerrigan was trying to kill Mensk, the psi disruptor was installed on a similar platform.
Every one on the ship was in stasis until you lowered the ship up, it was like hiding weapons to never be used until the Protoss was in danger of extinction.
Corps is an abbreviation for corporation. Basically it's a shorthand way of saying Moebius corporations troops.
I've ecently rewatched your Legacy of the Void playthrough. You thought that Dragoon's were pointless. Glad you changed your mind :D
Face it lowko, you like doing this serious as much as we like watching it. Don't forget to smile yourself!
If you are using blink zealots put them behind dragoons so they get free shots before the stuns (They blink through units). But try out the whirlwind ones they are insane!
In sc2 lowko is the best multiplayer gamer I wish I could play with him once
I do love the korhal missions.
I'm glad you like the cutscenes and the dialogue and all of that. But even if I like Protoss, man, they like to talk and talk and talk... Sometimes I was like "shut up already and let's start the mission". Those guys dont' have a mouth but they like to chat a little too much.
«In this version they know how to walk!»
At last!!
just not fast
Protoss: Artanis why are you helping these terrans? They have mouths.
Yeah, you're amazing Lowko
@LowkoTV if you want all the bonus obj don't go to the shakuras next let it by the last mission available and then you can do the bonus on brutal in shakuras missions
If Lowko went for Shakuras first, dark templars could basically slash through every thing in this map :)
I love the dragoons, reminds me of being in jr high playing SC1, but stalkers are def better
"The exoskeleton of the Dragoon is very difficult to control, do not judge them for the path they choose to walk"
My favourite part of this mission is that if you destroy an enemy base, Raynor's units make one in its place.
Lowko, if you can, please choose units that we don't get to see outside this campaign; Zealots are always there, Centurions are not for example.
I love the look of the spear of anoob
Lowko Centurion works well with dragoon just cause zealots will just get stuck behind dragoon most of the time.
Surely I'm not the only one noticing that Lowko isn't using chrono boost for upgrades or non-probe production. Well, he'll probably remember chrono boost when he sees the solar core upgrades. Probably...
Dragoons: attacking the bunker, out of the range of the bunker
Lowko: moves them into the bunker's range to attack :|
I like to use the Whirlwind Zealots over the Centurions because Whirlwind is very good at dealing with hordes, something my other units usually have trouble with
I find 25 the best one u can always hotkey for building. And max resource production out
Human's Khala is just called Facebook Lowko and you are right it's creepy
Awesome content man. Keep it coming.
For a planet with massive cities clearly visible from space the Korhal should have way more than 8 billion inhabitants. The planet is even as big as Earth but has fewer oceans. the population should rather be around 15 billion or more if you ask me.
Valaquenta7 You know what happened to HotS?
es, I do remember. They made a big deal about how Jim and Valerian save the civilian population. So the casualities should have gone into the millions, but not beyond that.
Thus begins the humanization if the Protoss. They will learn how it is to feel alone and confused like terrans do. One day and struggle at a time.
Also . A corps is an organization, like the Peace Corps. A corpse is a dead body, a carcass.
"Corps" is plural...
Justin Thompson
Come back when you learn English. Corps is singular.
going with the shielded stalkers is a better way to go.
To be fair, the terrans also arent psionically strong like Protoss, hence why they couldnt handle the Khala
9:07, Of course, you can read other people's thoughts. It called Twitter.
