DIY Off Road Go Kart Lift + Post-Mini Mayhem Carnage

- Опубликовано: 26 авг 2024
- Today we're upgrading our Yerf Dog Spiderbox powered by a GY6 engine. We're installing a new carburetor, torque converter belt, and clutch rollers to freshen up the engine, and we decide to lift the front end of the go kart. Unfortunately the new longer shocks we had were too long for the off road go kart, but we were able to make brackets (with no welding required) that allowed us to lift the go kart by about 3 inches using the original shocks.
Thanks for Watching!

I get so upset knowing that I don’t have a relationship with a friend like this , you guy are absolutely the best of friends that I’ve ever seen, you guys have so much fun and get to do what you love I’m so envious, you guys helped me out a few months back with my go kart and y’all told me what to do in the comments and I appreciate it so much ! You guys are one of the true RUclips channels out there that give happiness to people and I’m glad that I watch ever single one of them when they come out , you guys are the homies for real
You could build new upper shock mounts for the front and use the bigger shocks and get more travel from your suspension
and slightly bigger wheels
Now that we're back from Mini Mayhem, we have our work cut out for us to upgrade the fleet!
What size is the axle nut on the other subi yerf dog I need to know desperately
Hi John. Do you have any information on where the Oregon Gambler Minibike Enduro is that you are going to May 18th/19th?
I would like to send you guys a set of rear tires for this kart... where can i send them to???
Needs better tires
CarsandCameras Can y’all please do a go kart race? (Yard kart race. Please use regular karts 😂)
Put a sleeve on the tie rod. if you hit a rock/bump and cause bump steer the tie rod will snap at the weld. This has happened to me and left me stuck on the trail and no way to fix it until I got home.
Aww bad luck
First thing is alignment, the NEW MUD TIRES. I'm ok with the engine.
they need something like this huh? www.summitracing.com/parts/ict-swl-64
J.A.Ratt85 hell nah
YES, J.A. those tires would have been GREAT AT THEIR EVENT.
Never Trust Anyone Who Say “Paper, Rock, Scissor”. #RockPaperScissors

Paper , scissors, rock
I Cant Trust You Either @Gus Campos
Yurf Dog needs a 5 gallon tank from a Generator or a Late 80's/Early 90's CRAFTSMAN GT6000!
🤓-Thomas
TK Skagen I did that to mine :)
Ike : you won’t regret it.
Let me get out.
Love it. It’s a reverse, hold my beer watch this..
When you guys thank Gopowersports.com it reminds me of the tv show Home Improvment when Tim and Al mention Binford Tools. Love it! Keep up the great content boys!
my 150 gy6 moped went from 35 mph to 65 by just installing a non limited cdi
Then your cdi was bad a scooter* is alot lighter than this kart.
I just put a new top end on my gy6 150 3days ago. How long do I have to break in the new Piston before I can rip at full throttle? And did u get the orange or blue CDI box? I got the orange one but am waiting till I break in the motor before I put it on.
@@Daniel-jw3of when I did mine i was told 100 hrs I only did 50hrs break in. With the no rev limit cdi and me riding wot after break in I was noticing it getting a bit hot so i upgraded the oil pump and added an oil cooler. Been fine since and it's been about 4 years no engine issues.
@@FAKE-NAME cool thanks I appreciate it
I have built 2 gy6 go karts and the engine of choice I would get would be a 232cc long case gy6 engine. Makes the most torque and horsepower that you get out of a drop in engine
These buggies only accept short case engines. You can still take a short case and get the same displacement and stroke however.
Idk man for 300 bucks I'll weld a plate for a 18 hp duromax
If that engine is strong...build it and replace the shaft!
Gy6 engines commonly out live whatever Chinese frame they are put in so I believe they should start listening to ppl and work on the engine, the shaft is only $30canadian on amazon.ca so like 15usd. I left an extensive gy6 engine performance parts list 4 them in 2 videos and they have ignored it so far.
"NOOO, you won't regret it! Lemme get out..." Priceless.
monster truck needs some super wide rims and tires with some tractor style tread , great job guys can't wait for mondays and wednesdays !!!
Stretch the rear swing arm 4" And lift it so you can run a ATV tire in the rear. On the front you can locate the strut mount lower to allow you to run a longer shock for longer suspension travel and not lift it so much.
y'all might look into wider tires for the monster truck, maybe lawn mower Rear turf tires for the front and the bigger ATV tires on the rear for traction might help with the "tippyness" of the build, i will say i'm impressed that the little GY6 powered kart was able to do all that it did with minimal work, pretty capable and loads of potential there
John is looking like he was tailgating a manure spreader after that test ride!
280mm rfy shocks fit the front perfectly!
You guys should do a collab with grind hard plumbing.
Ameritude way to different plus they are far far away
@@anonymousperson4280 well....... That doesent mean a collab wouldn't be pretty cool still
Grind hard is on a whole nother level then cars and cameras. Cars and cameras has nothing to bring to that collab
@@scottycotner dude, what is your problem, I agree that their styles are quite different, but that doesent mean you have to dis cars and cameras, they did put a 900cc engine in a go cart and got on the velocity channel. Neither of which grind hard has ever done.
Opposite sides of the Country. Could meet up at the minibike gambler, maybe.
250cc gy6 motor would be epic in one of those
360P life!! I love it!!
Awesome content reminds me of my childhood thanks
Thanks, guys, nice buggy.
Love the videos guys keep it up reverse big bore kit and better gripping tires and a show down for the yerf dog murrary off reading to see which is better
“ no you won’t regret it , let me get out “. 😂
Lol the Yerf Dog looked liked it had to pee
Ladies often pay a lot of money to get a mud treatment just like you got for free! Turf tires are designed for lawn mowers so they don't tear your yard, they aren't designed for traction, especially in mud, as evidenced by the several times I've gotten my garden tractor stuck in my back yard.
Just picked up a 2004 yerfdog Spiderbox. Awesome ride
bigbore, 28/26mm carb, other clutch, variator and a more free flowing exhaust on the gy6! Love the vids
Love the yerf dog
Good to see that engine modified
Yep better tyers and that thing will be a beast
Love to watch when I get free time
This thing is awsome!
Patel tires,,, racing mud tires, DO IT man !
It's a beast!!
Hey Ike, I'll Rock Paper Scissors for the hearse 😂
“You did send it sir”
😂
the one best mod I have seen for one of the Yerf dogs for after the carb and the brakes is a good old fashioned set of woolly bugger tires they works for grass and dirt and work ok in the mud without being to over the top . Ebay and most hard ware stores still sells them and you can get them in 8 , 10 , and 12 in sizes the best part they just work really well .
Cool buggy 😎
Where could or what could some one do to learn more about small engines. Yall are amazing looking to better my knowledge and hopefully get something built.
Amazing
I had one of these years ago, I used Honda 300ex front spindles to add front brakes and used 300ex shocks on the front and rear for a better ride. You should of changed the clutch rollers out to sliders, you get better bottom and top end. Buggy parts northwest also sells upgraded coils and CDI boxes for these.
Ayyye October’s my birthday lol
LEGEND HAS IT, THAT THE CARS AND CAMERAS GUYS HAVE A GY 670CC........
love yall's vids
I play with several gy6 engines..i'll always recommend checking valve lash....every one i've messed with needed the valves adjusted.
Kazuma 150cc reverse box I got a gy6 on my go kart I had to replace mine and it comes with new shafts.
Another great video. It was great meeting both of you at the huge swap meet. Ya'll are guys I could see myself hanging out with.
If there's room, you should put a 670 on that dog.
You gotta consider throwing one of these roshambos for Ike. Poor feller's gettin mopey over it. I'm surprised he has learned how to game it like the 'pros' by now
Hey guys I'm the one with the Hawkeye if you turn the front shocks all the way up and weld the rear shock mounts in 2 in you get a 2" lift and 13" of ground clearance in the middle
You guys should do a tool review/recommendations on your tools
Love that kart. That's my second choice for my favorite.
If you guys would install some mudguards, you could bog deep everyday. i'm also thinking side of the road trial grand prix circuit for those offroad laptimes… greetings from Belgium!
It’s a mini bogger!
Ike “NOOOOO, you won’t regret it! Let me get out...” 🤣🤣
Y’all should take out a lot of the go karts and find how many can go throw Payton’s pass
I love the content, been here since you all were tiny and doing more with cars. With that said, I'm really still here just to see who wins the Rock, Paper, Scissors battles now. Those battles are about as epic as GoT!
I like the little bracket..was looking for ways to raise my Yerf dog & thats how im going to do it!!
Should start thinking bout getting some security at your meet ups
Tires tires tires! That kart looks like so much fun! Working on a 3203 right now so y'all are giving me all kinds of ideas. Keep up the good work and thanks!
Ike's towing to the rescue
Time for another one off kart build gentlemen
12.5hp Briggs flat head engine and a set of kenda bear claws for the back and a set of Carlisle x tracks for the front!!!
I love my spiderbox. I stretched the rear frame and widened it to 62 inches with some meaty treads on it. Gonna cut more teeth in the steering rack for better turn radius
Just keep doing what you do, guys! As always, a great video!
Them gy6 engines have good power, I for my self have a tomberlin punisher 2 2007 150r I upgraded it to 1500 rpm yellow springs on the clutch and changed my 32 tooth sproket to a 45 have added a racing CDI and 27 inch tires on the back. I have no problems with mud, trails or hills.
The 171 kit is great for price vs performance. Its also the biggest you can go without boring the case. But more free exhaust, a carb you can adjust your air fuel on the side, that stuff. You can buy a 232 engine with over 20 hp, but its fairly expensive. Its the king of kings when it comes to GY6 tho. But the 171 should be bolt on kit for most engines with a bigger head and whatnot. And as for why it was cutting off when y'all were stuck, they don't like getting jostled around then let back to idle. Mine dies if I do a burn out and the back tire bounces. Floats are waaaay too easy to bounce around
And because of you guys im doing my first mini bike as well bought it it is belt driven im gonna switch it to sprocket and chain thanks to go power sports
Go through there? Are you sure?.......Yep, It'll be fine! You got my screen muddy, thanks!
IT'LL BE FINE!!!
Mud grips for sure! Sweet video 👍
John your knowledge has improved so much. Whatching you learning from yoda (Ike) has been cool man. Rock on fella's! ✊🏻🤟🏻
Build that engine up. 171 bore kit, a11 camshaft, performance carb, and performance cdi are all cheap and easy upgrades that can be found on either amazon or ebay
Thanks for doing a gy6 project. Love the videos. Keep up the great work!!!
you don't need a new engine , JUST A TOP END KIT .. BIG BORE !! ..ENJOYED..
the biggest gy6 you can get is the Taida 232cc. You can make any GY6 go 80mph but the engine size just makes the get up and go faster. Bigger displacement is more torque. Basically GY6 are Honda clone engines for scooters
John looked a little bit uncomfortable wearing all dat mud just think with more aggressive tires there might be more mud so maybe some homemade fenders to keep the mud slinging down a bit
Finally!!! Was so excited when that notification went off haha
Tire swap back tires from Yerf,to front of Monster, and Taller V-treads on back of both.More top end,and of course grip. You can do easy mud guards too, including can around air filter on Yerf so it doesn't pack with mud.
I don't think you dudes are happy unless you're covered from head to toe in muddy mud, mud....The more mud the merrier!...Where ever there is mud, you'll be there!
Lol that is cool that cart rocks
That's cool
The Ducati engine comes to mind! 😁🤯
I hope everything goes good lots of welded parts.
I love this build so far. Please put some more aggressive tires on it and send it through the mud. Keep it up guys.
What is the axle nut size for the other subi yerf dog I need to know desperately
1in
@@osquad1346 I mean what size socket would it be for the 1inch axle
@@DIY-dv7xj something like 1 and 1/4
For anyone who need to take them off i used some vice grips👌👌
Isaac, you're hopelessly cursed in Rock/Paper/Scissors. Did you, by chance, have Maximum Security to win? :O/
CHEERS!
Check out the ruckshop for performance since the gy6 they do motor swaps for them, some have modified them with stroker kits and all the goodies and have achieved 70+ MPH.
Super lugger tires or tractor tires should help it in the mud holes....
It worked for my cub cadet lawn tractor
Great video. A little bit of every thing. More videos of John in mud.
Install a de-governed 420cc predator with a simple stage 1 jeted or maybe a Mikuni 26mm/28mm carb. Of course a 40 series torque converter. That thing will be a stump puller!
Still not as muddy as that Road Warrior kid from Busco!
Nice guys!! I can not wait to see what tires you put on it. Put a bigger shaft on it, that engine is great
I got the same gokart and I just lifted it up today and put atv wheels on it.i also have a bunch more go karts in my garage that I make.
You should cut and extend the A-Arms that way it allow for longer springs and shocks and at the same time it would give you a better tracking plus it's just wider and cooler
Great video as always guys. I for sure say it needs the reverse box installed. 2 as far as speed I qouod not change it other than maybe a couple teeth on gearing. Its got great torque which is what you want to have for offroad. Speed would come as byproduct if you get a slightly larger and more aggressive tire.
Lol and you tried saying it was gonna be slow 😂😂😂😂
Taotao makes the best 150cc gy6 engines . Go on txpowersports to get brand new parts
all gy6's are made at the EXACT SAME factory Tao Tao is just an assembly outlet that adds their name
You should make a mini tow truck for your Go-Karts that brake down
