We Swapped a 25HP Racing Engine on a Derelict Yard Kart

- We install a big valve 225cc Tillotson racing engine on a Manco Dingo yard kart! This Manco Dingo IX is the bigger of the two Dingos made, and this one has a Honda GX240 installed. The Dingo is in poor condition- the engine plate is cut up, the GX240 doesn't fit properly on the frame, the frame is bent meaning the kart doesn't turn properly, it doesn't have brakes, and one of the font wheels has no wheel bearings! So, installing a racing Tillotson 225cc engine required a lot of modification to the chassis.
Thanks for Watching!

Good work guys! John, IX is 9 ;)
IV Star comment here.
4... 9... 1billion trillion. Close enough. It'll be fine.
Couldn't help myself wanting to say something about John misreading the IX(9) Roman Numeral, however I didn't want to trump someone else's comment if someone had already done so. Lol
I love how no matter what video I am watching on RUclips as soon as you guys post I stop my video and go to yours lol….keep up the good work guys!
100%
Same here!
100
Same 🤣
Yes, 100% 🤣
I love that you guys hauled the Dingo to the shop by hand. Meanwhile in the background you have several machines that could easily do that task for you. This sort of hilarity is one of the many reasons I keep watching. Keep up the great work guys.
Turns out this Dingo needed a bit more than we could throw at it today! We’ll get it dialed soon👌

Why does 25hp look so slow?
Cool video. Driven pulley could have been simply flipped over for proper alignment.
@@JO.Racing because they remove the torque converter aka CVT so it's geared wrong and only have 1 gear.
A modify CVT or a gearbox would make it way faster
IX = 9
Have you guys ever thought about using a suspension seat system in a kart that's particularly hard on your back? Spirngfield seat suspension kit could take some of the pain away? Would be interested to see.
Hey John, that is a Dingo 9, not 4.
Great video! With that frame, ATV tires at low pressure would act as your suspension.
i just posted the numbers 1-10 then read your comment. glad to see its not just me who cares
We had to go to the thicker engine mounting plate on our go karts, the thinner ones started breaking up. Definitely a must for off road!
And don't drill too many holes in them or make too many cuts/slots in them...
IX is 9, Jon...
😂😂😂
Luv ya, mean it.
Lol I love how Johns like. Yea I remember the dingo pulled really bad to the left. As u look at the cart and the right tire is straight and the left tire is as left as it’ll even get Lmfaooo. Gee John u don’t say. I wonder why lol 😂
I'd love to see a dingo race between you guys and friends.
Go Power Sports are hands down the best experience I've ever had ordering things. My next mini bike IM going with a tiltson engine. Predators are okay, no issues, but IM looking for the best for my next build.
Another great video guys. This Old Man taking a break from yard work when I get your notice. Belated Happy Birthday John. Love you guys. 🛵🧔💝💝💝
I would say Charles and John did quite well bringing the Dingo back to life. Once they get the bugs worked out of it it should rip pretty darn good.
IX is 9 not 4
Love the channel, have you guys thought of doing your own version of a polaris razor or maybe a side by side? Something like the trophy cart but with 2 or 4 seats.
they have in the past, more of a trophy truck i suppose but sorta like what you're describing :)
@@mostlymotorized wym? All you have to do is look back at their videos, the proofs there XD
Couldn’t you just turn the driven pulley around instead of the axle!!??
I said that too
Paused at the engine mock-up and I am thinking, "c'mon John! I know you've got the mad plasma cutter skills!"
I'm.pretty sure that "IX" means 9.
Or I am 10 mentally.
John trips me out with his pliers and holster...stay ready my friend!
I have a 8 hp Briggs and Stratton that ran but it's been sitting under my bench for 8 years. Wish you all were closer, id give it to you, it's a flat head!
So glad you stopped dusting the new engine :]
Great job on the Dingo.
Your Grand Prix sign turned out awesome.
Charles has been watching Cole the Cornstar, methinks. He's rockin the Pit Vipers.
The driven pully is reversible, you can move it
yeah just flip it
Really love what u guys have done with her. Keep it up guys !!
I love the evolution of C&C (and 'Owen Wilson' joining the clan) - but just feeling a little nostalgic today. I miss the old 'I'm John.....I'm Isaac' intros.
Hey guys very nice new shop! Its so cool to see you guys grow with the channel, shop and infrastructure...
Its because you are all easy dudes, like the sort of guys which I would drink a beer with... Since I watched the first couple vids, it was like hangin out with some dudes... with the feeling of see old friends. And this is what makes you guys so unique, at least in my case. Its hard for me to explain because english is not my "everyday-language" but it was always like you and Ike. Then the day I heard that Charles comes to the team it was like:" hmm is this a good idea?"
after tge first vid with Charles the case was done .... absolutely this was a perfect idea! Charles is a really cool dude. Long story short: thanks a lot for your vids guys! you really made my day at least a hundred times! greets ron
I love everything and anything that y’all do. Hopefully money get right so I can meet y’all in Goldsboro. John, Ike, and Charles, I love y’all. Can’t wait to see little Charles riding go-carts. 😝😝😝😝
We need a super cut of every time john/ Ike says “Charles had a good Idea” 😂😂
"We may have to switch the pedals around, you know the gas on the right and brake on the left." The look that John gives us! I've never seen his eyeballs get that big! LMAO
Charles is a new dad but his dad joke skill is elite!!!:)
Great video guys! I love the sign on the wall. Some colored back lighting on the Grand Prix part would be excellent!
Sounds like Charles has a lot of good ideas
Thanks for the video that Dingo seems promising but looking forward to your solutions.
lol, Dingo-Berries. I love the way that flows 🤣. Technically, with the engine in front of the rear axle, you sir have a mid-engine go-kart. its the C8 Dingo! haha!
A good tip when welding up your caliper bracket to the frame is to have some one apply the brakes with the pedal then weld … it will assure that the brakes are in perfect alignment with the rotor
The depth of Mr Cs knowledge is stunning..
Just noticed you guys hit a million subscribers. Congratulations!
The torque converter alone will change the whole attitude of this kart. I quit using clutches altogether unless its a track kart with sustained engagement and rpm. As always, love the channel and the builds. Yall have come a long way.
Love the videos been watching forever keep the vids up
Aw Charles found a turtle hahaha
The hair is killing me man! 🤣👍💯
My Dingo I had when was like 12-13 was that size but came with big knobby tires and a Briggs and Stratton 8hp. I drove the crap out of that thing and had a blast every day! No suspension cause my roll cage to crack so me not wanting to stop or being a welder at 12, I just tore it off. Super sketchy obviously but what wasn't then?. Mine stock would light hose knobby's up in gravel and even break lose and do doughnuts on pavement. Man I miss it. It ended up seizing I thing bc it got even more tougher to start and finally stopped being able to pull start. I sold it but got a couple hundy still and put it toward a great running good shape older 70' Honda mini trail/street bike. It wasn't the z50 bc the tank was actually proportionate like a big bike to the seat and looked like a smaller full size. It had a 3 speed. Had 3 gears all down. instead of normally 1 down rest up, you shifted up to down shift. Weird. It had been repainted like a Chevy orange and had a blue pool liner for the seat cover lol. It ran very strong and lasted for several years. I bought it from my uncle that horse traded cars and trucks and whatever else and paid like $300 for it. After that he sold me a 90's Yamaha Razz scooter that I rode hard too and ended up later after a couple years of daily riding everywhere in the country and yards not starting one day. I think it was shot anyway. But anyhoo, glad I got this video yall. Brought back some of my favorite memories as a kid. Ive never seen anymore or anybody else on here with a Dingo. Oh yea I forgot about the Honda Odysee buggy kart too. It was like bigger and more hp than the Dingo. Have y'all ever seen one of those? Back in 80's prob I believe. Later guys.
Great vid as always!! should definitely do a Dingo Derby!!
Love you videos have a red fox LXT and a manco one as well I love them. The first dingo y’all did inspired both mine. 🤙👍
I had a dingo when I was like 12 or 13 with a hopped up 5 horse Briggs and Stratton it had a hot cam, a wiseco racing piston, and a straight pipe it was a fun kart. 👍
The new look of the wall looks great! Maybe add a red background to back of the Grand Prix sign to make it pop so much more. Just an idea, love the content guys!
I herd Charles say something about mini cups and caught my attention so quickly. Would love to see some pictures of his mini cup and I am curious if he ran a suspended chassis or rigid.
You guys should put some calcium flake spread with a fertilizer spreader just before you're about to get some rain no more dust
I saved up for used dingo when I was 13 its was peak of my childhood lol yellow with ballon tirez Remember going through torque converbelts and front spindles ever other month.
Also could you do a video of Charles teaching how to weld??? Lol!!!!!!! He seems like the best teacher because he talks like me. #countrystrong
dingo really could do with some doorbars. for safety. something between you and whatever you hit when you roll it because you're crazy like me and attached full suspension from an old quad and fabbed up a swaybar from some bent tubing with the ends pinched, welded, and reinforced to handle the bolt trying to turn a circle into an oval, and it does work well as a makeshift swaybar. note to self, next time shave the seam, and nest a pipe inside and weld the ends together first before bending and doing the swaybar linkage. it needs a stiffer bar, and a twin tube is tougher than just stright up thicker walls, funnily enough
Also the frame is bent...not as much as the front tires were off tho...one straight and one all the way to the left...lol..wow...I know you could adjust the tie rods and get a lot of that straightened out...that was just crazy...wow...
Guys, I'm a scrapper, and I've found a ton of generators. Good motors, tapered shafts. An old timer yesterday gave me a tip: rather than machine or grind (Ike) the shaft down, just cut the last 3 inches off the armature shaft, below the windings. Shorten the bolt, attach that stub to the end of the crank, use red Loctite to "glue" the stub to the shaft, and bolt it on. You'll remove the bolt later to install a clutch. I'm gonna try it with my new 390cc Subaru Robin engine!
as a dingo owner, and fan. thanks for saving it. i love these things.
An all Dingo race just has to be called "The Dingo Dash"
and just like that, just by scooting the motor mount as far forward as possible, you made the dingo go from rear engine rear drive, to mid engine rear drive. for a vehicle to be considered mid engine, the engine itself has to be mounted somewhere between the front and rear axle at their center line.
Ill join the Dingo race!!! Pro Modified class😁
Yeah it’s getting to be a lot nicer of a cart cart
I love predator engines man, especially the 212 so many different ways you can modify it and different paths you can take with it...such a versatile machine and with the right maintenance they'll last almost as long as their honda counterparts
Buy a bunch of dingos and host the "Dingo Derby"
Freudian slip @ 9:16 I watched it like 10 times laughing my butt off
I’m starting a racing mower project with two transmissions to be able to run the factory shift on the go transmission with a proper horizontal shaft engine so later I can get a 2 stroke out of a snowmobile engine. For now the old forgotten predator 212 will do. Gonna do some repairs, the old carb is flooding the engine. I’m also gonna do my job to rebuild my old manco rattler. The old 6 horse tecumseh needs repairs. As well as the bent axle and bad tires.
I love how John talks like he knows what's going on 😅😅
1 dingo each all do your own little thing and see who can build the fastest best handling dingo👍👍👍👍👍
Dude that’s awesome!
I love that valve cover on the 240 we just built a 270 with no governor and a thin head gasket and big carb and painted the blower housing Chevy orange along with the valve cover
Dingo Phoenix was my first cart. I jumped it over dirt bike jump and broke motor plate. Almost a front flip. Good times.
Hey you guys should do a full 5hp briggs flathead build
Is this the new super engine in the last video?
Yes. Cool.
sumting you could try is put a pointer on the chassis and bend it next to the sprocket /hub combo to find the bend , grab a big hammer and "finetune" the sprocket so its rotating straight
I literally can’t ever remember a bad c&c’s episode. My favourite channel by far! Thanks for doing what you do
That's so funny the air fitting I did the same thing on my Baja warrior!
This episode proves Ike knows his stuff
great video guys, I've a story for you. 30 yrs ago I wound up with a dingo gocart and I think it was the same size as this one. anyway I extended the frame 2 ft behind the seat and installed a Honda 350 street bike engine and with a lot of tinkering got that sucker to do 75 mph on a dirt road. but take off was the best because it would throw rooster tails straight up as you left with the front tires 12 inches off the ground. that was a scary little cart. but I had a lot of fun out of it.
That Honda 350 should have been good for over a 100... especially since a low cart pushes less wind than an upright rider on a bike...
In 1968 I scratch built a suspension minibike tightly around a Jawa 350cc 2 cycle 2 cylinder 4 speed tranny motorcycle engine... licensed it for street with title from Cushman scooter the engine had been on earlier...
@@BuzzLOLOL no sir mine was an old 4 stroke 2 cylinder and small tires drastically reduce the top speed on any cart and it wasn't built for speed it was built to trail ride so in 1st gear it would climb without stalling . Anyway the 350 I used was very worn-out , so much so that I could start it with just my hand with no kickback . And the bike I took it off of was abandoned at a house I bought. Lots of parts stripped no speedo .
@@dwaynet2184 - You just change the overall gearing to compensate for small tires... and build with weight over rear tires for traction off road... a Honda 350 could climb about any hill in 1st gear... although the 350 Scramblers had less power than the street bikes... like 85 MPH vs 110 MPH...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_CB350
@@BuzzLOLOL ok thanks but all I had was a Honda 350 sprocket 30 yrs ago and I wanted it to climb mountain 's where I lived at the time . Now I'm a retired mechanic that's does understand gearing and how to change it. I worked on high performance boats that did well over 100 mph and that's all gearing to get them up to speed. But thank you . If I had met you 30 yrs ago we would have had a lot of fun I'm sure.
@@dwaynet2184 - I left the Cushman sprocket/brake assembly on my minibike, but added a much smaller sprocket on the other side to get the gearing needed with minibike/scooter size tires...
Person I bought the scooter from was into horses and scared by the 15 - 20 MPH top speed with the big Cushman sprocket, LOL! Plus it was a box style scooter body and with no cooling airflow, it would overheat and quit running after a couple minutes. I don't know who put that mess together to start with.
I'm in N.W. Ohio, how about you?
I think you guys should get serious and build a car for The Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa.
"pulls to the left pretty bad"
as the left tire is pointing 90 degrees in the wrong direction haha
The quote of this episode, "it's kinda close, but really bad." ~Charles
The Dingo Derby!
That many Dingos would be a Ding-off!
Just an idea, how about a build of a recovery vehicle. I mean Charles is good at pulling go carts but it might be a good idea
That lift is very nice 👍
Love the content y'all continuously put out and love my coaster! First time I've bought anything from a RUclipsr since RUclips has existed
When you get more Dingos have a race in December called the "December Dingo Dash!" 😁😎
Love the content man keep it going
been a following the channel since the OG days before the karts started it's a shame you guys aren't in the UK I would happily donate 2 aprilia rs 125 rotax motors fully working a fzr 400 motor and a 97 zx9r motor would love to see some more manual engine builds i would happily ship them over if I had the spare money to Support the channel the progression is amazing over the last 2 years
Love your custom frame and body alignment tool. Put a boot on it and push!
9:14 Freudian Slip there my guy!
John! IX is 9. IV is 4. 😉😁
The air fitting on the throttle cable is genius in a pinch
Add more padding to the base of the seat to raise yourself up so your arms clear the side bolsters.
9:15 We all know what you were going to say john
I'm hyped to see 👀 this video and more 🙌
For whatever it's worth, if the lettering on the back of the seat are Roman numerals, that would equate to '9'. Similar to the super bowl number of what game is being played that year. Example: I=1, V=5, X=10, L=50, C=100, D=500, M=1,000. So 'IX' would equal 9.
I also have a manco dingo! They are definitely hard on the back. I want to add rear suspension (not independent, just a rear swing arm) to mine but can't find any videos on it. Is this something you might do to this one?
Check out Red Beard Garage's channel. I think he's done a Dingo or 2, and definitely has swing arm vids/how to's.
I'd be up for watching a good old Dingo Dash around the Cars and Cameras Grand Pre. :)
Who's the mystery 3rd man behind the camera today? Lol
Neglected dingo sounds like an amazing band name!
The best way is the run the series30 north/south, driver at 12, driven at 6 o’clock.
IX isn’t four. Love you guys 🤣
