ZachBraps turbo diesel will still be slow compared to rotary engine, a 250 2 stroke engine or a snowmobile engine

I have this same kart! you guys inspired me to start working on it again last year when I was watching the 670 videos. I am in the process of moving the steering and controls to the center to make it a single seater.
can't wait to see what you do with this!

Love this! I recently bought one for my kids. Please do the "free power" mods so I can compare my stocker to yours. Also, I wonder if gopowersports would hook you up with the 40 series torque converter so you could review the difference between the 30 series and 40 series. Here's an idea I've had too: take the engine off the rear swingarm and make an engine cradle for the frame, run a chain from the TC sprocket to a sprocket mounted near the hinge point of the rear swingarm with another sprocket right next to it with a chain running to the axle. You'd need a couple pillow blocks. I think it would be more like a rzr. I wonder if it would squat more under power?
I've also wondered about finding a way to have either bearings or a bushing at the pivot point of the rear swingarm. Not a big deal, but the hinge there seems kind of sloppy and noisy.
I'm putting a 450 dirt bike engine in my yerfdog you guys should do the same

I had one, I put on a genuine honda gx340 11hp with comet 40 series clutch, it took 2 thick adults all over red river motorcycle trails in bulcher Tx, it was awesome. Had to add 2 shocks to the front end to support weight.

I have the 3.5 HP version of that motor on a mini bike and I have the governor removed, straight piped, and a cold air intake and it goes about 45 mph

Yeah! Put a hayabusa in it! With the clutch/transmission so you have a clutch and multiple gears. Probably should do at least 3 point harness seat belt in it then though...

John and Ike- Came across your videos a few days ago, and have been binge watching them ever since. Love the dynamic of your friendship. You two are truly lucky to share the same passion, and Ike's humble attitude is just great to watch. Brings me back to my earlier years of constantly tinkering with go karts, dirt bikes, and anything I could get my hands on. Now i'm approaching my thirties and my only toy right now is my C5 Z06 with a centrifugal blower. You guys are really tempting me to go grab a cheap go kart, and build up something fun with my teenage neighbor who is always coming over, asking questions and helping me work on the Vette. Maybe I can be his Ike, lol. Keep up the good builds, good times, and good company! P.S. I vote for boosting the 670 2 cylinder, or doing a diesel build to roll that coal... it'll be fine!

Hey Ike. To fix the idling issue with the Tecumseh, back out the little gold screw next to the primer bulb. Clean it out and blow air through the hole in the screw and put it back in. It made mine run like a dream.

I have one just like this, with a few mods. It's not bad after tweaking the governor and adding a straight pipe. Back in the day, I think it would go about 30 mph, depending on the weight of the driver.
250cc/ 400cc or 600cc motorbike engine would be awesome. And fast. Would allow you to rev the nuts off it as well. :D

I know with a little modification to the frame you can put an 18 on the front instead if the 15 in it. if you put a diesel on it with torque converter and a comet reverse tht would be awsome.
I put a 420 cc on my yerf dog and it's pretty nice. I added 4 shocks in the front to help with jumping. You should do the same it helps a lot. Also add some height on the roll cage. And stop using the factory brakes it'll bend the frame on the left side add an axel brake. Great video!
You guys have some awesome friends!! I am just north of Raleigh and the only cart that I can find for $100 is a stripped yard cart frame. Go turbo diesel. Use the turbo for the drift trike. That would be an original
After Ike hit his head jumping the yerf dog you can hear the valves ticking pretty loudly. If that was mine then i would change the oil especially since it has been sitting for a while and the oil probably broken down a little
I had one very similar too this. I had a 2004 Yerf Dog 2 seater, 6hp Tecumseh engine. It was yellow, but did nothing have rear suspension.
Definitely do some reinforcing to the A-Arms, shock mounts, etc. I'd love to see a diesel. I'm also curious as to what diesel you'd use. I'm not familiar with any small diesels so this will be fun to watch!

Put the motor and transmission from a street bike on it so you can actually shift and tear stuff up. It doesn't have to be a big motor or anything, just some old junker that has been set aside or something. I think that would be awesome.
It rides pretty good with both you guys on it for its size.

you guys should try putting sea foam in the gas tank or in the carb when it's running. Not really a substitution for soaking carbs to clean but. it works pretty well on engines a little rough

Ive had 8 Yerf Dogs, bought and sold on cragslist. Most had Predator engines, good times.

I've had that go kart for 11 years only changed the carburetor and the beltes in the torc converter runs like it did brand new on lost 1 horse

You mentioned a hitch. What about a mini trailer for the mini bikes and that can be your tow rig. with a mini tool box and extra gas tank... with a light bar for night riding... I think would be awesome.
My go kart had the same engine when I bought it but I had that go kart engine rain , and snow for 5 years and still works!!!!!!!!
this cart should be your adventure vehicle, put a decent size engine with moderate top speed and alot of low down power AT tires a small lift a front brush bar and a light rack
I had one of these go karts in the carb was junk too. I bought an Amazon one for $12 and it runs really good now.
go to the junkyard and get 4 emergency donut tires for it. will increase speed without re gearing. the tires will provide massive ground clearance and good traction in mud
Nice go cart. If you take out the governor on a Tecumseh you will probably blow the rod. Also the surging is probably from the low speed jet being plugged. Thanks

I bought a dingo with the same engine. The carb jet is the bolt holding the bowl in place. Clean that thing out with a wire. Then you will want to clean the idle circuit. You have to remove the little black flat plastic/rubber plug and then unscrew the idle circuit. It is non adjustable so just blow out the circuit with some carb spray and put it back in. It should run pretty smooth after that.. Or you can just buy a new carb, they are only like 12 bucks on ebay.
Those Tecumseh power sport engines are pretty lack luster though. I don't think they were rated truthfully by the manufacturer. So putting a 212 on it should pep it up nicely.

That was my first go kart. I beat the living crap out of it and it took it like a champ. My dad had to make custom pedals because I was to little when I first got it
Loved this episode ike is right you guys should put a cargo rack on it so you can hual the mini bike. BTW I think you guys should do more exploration in the go kart

I was going to suggest you guys do a diesel go kart! I have a 10hp diesel engine that was swapped into my lawnmower and it does wheelies even with a plow on it! It would be awesome, and they are super reliable!

modded 212, sprocket, shocks, electrical help. NOW a somewhere in the 300 through 400cc range diesel would be awesome for the right price :D
I have a 2007 Baja 50 cc dirt bike and even though its unneeded my dad bought a 110 cc conversion witch adds 60 cc most likely brining the top speed up to 50mph.
Diesel swap and a trailer hitch. Build a little trailer to fit both minibikes and a toolbox. Throw a cooler in the cargo rack and go!
give it a few more inches of suspension travel (without making it top heavy), weld in reinforcement into weak spots on the suspension, plexiglass windscreen and the biggest fastest engine that can fit back there, go for the whole baja , pre runner truck deal

Nice Find. Do something "Ike" with it. Make something. Also use Carb cleaner to run a engine for test start. Gas % oil mix in a squirt can????. Sorry worked on small engines too long. Always a good vid.
Are the railroad tracks abandoned? If so it would be cool to build a rail cart! You wouldn't even have to have a steering wheel! It would be interesting to see how fast it could go since railroads use gradual grades unlike regular vehicles.
I reckon a street bike engine would be great for this kart, you wouldn't have to worry about clutch or torque converters and it would be that much faster
