High Idle only in Park and Neutral - Chevy Aveo

- It was the EGR Tube again! Causing the high idle in Park and nuetral. It broke right in the same spot where the heater core hose is right above it. I didn't wrap the new one I put on before my Florida trip had to replace it again! I wrapped the new one I put on this time.

It was the EGR Tube again! I didn't wrap the new one I put on before my Florida trip and it broke in the same spot. There is a heater core hose above the EGR tube causing it to get pin holes and eventually breaks the EGR tube in half.
Does the EGR have a duty cycle that is only when the car is in park/neutral? I am having a rough idle and a little bit of a surge ONLY in park/neutral....
Not sure on that. I know the egr tube is cheap aluminum and it gets holes and then cracks. I wrapped my new one with aluminum tape where the fluted parts are. It helps to keep it from breaking again. But yes that was my problem
@@Olly.sunshine do you know what would change in park/neutral vs being in gear? My car I can barely tell is on when in gear idling at a light....when I put it in park it doesn't idle TERRIBLE and doesn't shake like crazy but it definitely shakes....I don't know if torque converters out of balance can cause a shaking like I'm getting or if it is slight misfires (out of balance engine performance)
Check for all the easy stuff. Also check the small hoses on intake manifold. I have a video on the connectors cracking. They get old and crack. Here's the video. ruclips.net/video/Zz4Fr818ZhQ/видео.html
I guess Aveo's are known for cracked intake hoses. Repair or replace the hose. While you're there, clean throttle body plates. The idle is not that bad though. Mine was on 2
It was my EGR Tube again! I didn't wrap this one when I replaced it. I wrapped the new one I just put on. So hopefully no cracks for quite awhile.
First thing that came to mind was the A/C relay that increases idle when the A/C is on. That probably isn't it because it's not happening while in drive. Double check the ST and LT fuel trims if you suspect a vacuum leak, they may support that.
Thanks I'm checking on the problem. It wasn't my intake hose. I'll figure it out soon. I been cruising around Florida for a week now. No other problems just high Idle in Park and Neutral. I put the new oil pressure sending unit in and it started surging and then leveled out. I just don't leave it in Park or neutral lol. As long as she's running great lol.
I did have the air on for a minute here in sunny Florida. I'm going to take it to Auto zone today for a computer check. Just to make sure nothing is amiss. She's running good nothing but the high Idle in neutral and park. It's unusual for my car. Hopefully it's the new oil pressure sending unit I put in. Whatever it is I'll figure it out. I'll comment here when I do.
@@Olly.sunshine Don't know if the oil pressure sensor would affect the rpms. The ECU will shut the engine if the pressure goes too low, though, to save the engine. But anything seems possible with newer cars these days. Enjoy your trip!
Probably my egr tube has a pinhole. More than likely. I didn't wrap this one. It started the high idle right after I put the new oil pressure sending unit in. I didn't get a chance to have it put on a code checker today. Thanks for your comments!
My 03 malibu is doing the same revs up very high in park in but reverse and drive it calms down

@@malacefromthepalace5657 did it throw a code for u to change the ecm ?
On my Aveo it was the egr tube . The O2 sensor bank one can also cause your idle to be crazy.
mine was fixed by changing throttle position sensor
