Imagine being so cool that you were the person to show Greg Anderson Black Sabbath
Can you imagine that....fuuuuuck!
I thought it was all going to be ambient refrigerator field recordings
Chuyi Wang same XD
which is scary music when your stoned
"yeah so i picked up the 7 inch of john cages' 4'33""
That's pretty much what Alexis Marshall from Daughters picked out, haha. Such a wonderfully weird band, and his influences are so fucking interesting to me.
Greg Anderson is definitely more purely rooted in metal between him and O'Malley.
2:18 Greg Anderson of Sunn O))) over here calling another band "ridiculously slow." Funny
It wasn’t said it in an insulting way, he’s calling it like it is
This is not "ridiculously slow” but this is. ruclips.net/video/aVnLon8TvXk/видео.html
ah, sweet irony
i mean could you call Sunn 0))) rhythmic? it’s just kind of droning.
Mikkel Bødker yo thank you this is great
That sabbath 6th grade story was fucking cool.
That's rad! Totally!!
@@marcopivetta7796dude you can’t use the same account
Sun O)))'s next album name: "Sidetracked In The Jazz Section"
Jeremy Abel Sunn
If it was an entire album of something along the lines of Earth - Peace in Mississippi I would buy that a few times.
Love this guys taste. He's not super obscure or hipsterish. Just a metal dude who likes good film.
Oh? Is there a new website that lets you enter some music and it'll tell you how objectively obscure it is?
wrarmatei Yes
wrarmatei Perhaps I should have said purposely obscure?
It's more entertaining if they pull out great obscure records rather than great popular records, no?
YES!!!
Get every single member of Godspeed You Black Emperor in and make a 14 hour long video of whats in their bag
We'd love to do that! Well, probably more like a 14 minute video if we could get them in, but you could certainly play it at half speed for better effect.
Hint! They will release something somewhat soon... they will come to Mexico City in September!! So I bet they will be touring around somewhere in the near future, catch them if you can!!! I am a die-hard fan
wow sunn o))) on amoeba, sick!!
I had the biggest grin on my face the moment he said Mahavishnu Orchestra. My all time favourite band.
Chinmay King crimson your number 2?
*favorite
@@Ori0n1975you realise - see what I did there - that the American spelling of a word isn’t always the only correct variation, right?
I'm older & only know his music a bit, but he nailed the connection between the Sabbath fans (as kids) who saw Black Flag & became bands like Soundgarden & Melvins
Miles Davis, Sabbath, Grief, Soundgarden, Incantation - Greg's awesome.
Seen them live in Australia with Boris, fucking insane. One of the best live music experiences. We all just layed on the floor, feeling all the vibrations.
Swans- what's in my bag
HIGHTONEEE Michael gira had already done an interview for the quietus listing his favorite albums, and its pretty interesting!
Oh yes I'd love to see that.
Yes, the whole band - not just Gira.
Good luck getting them in
Would be very interesting though
Dream Delirium The details from both of them are a little vague, but from what I’ve read it seems like she didn’t want to have sex with him initially, but she got drunk, blacked out, and they ended up having sex.
I’m liberal, but I’m not one of those people that considers that “rape”. The far left is getting fucking ridiculous with that kind of shit.
I was kinda just being a smartass when I said “he is busy raping”.
Dude from Sunn O))) buying Grief records, holy shit that's awesome.
I gasped in excitement when I saw it was Sunn O))). Thank you!!
same here!
KEEP THE METAL COMING
00:54 if that's not the best love/crush story, I don't know what is.
Discovering The Mahavishnu Orchestra with John McLaughlin is a seminal moment in anyone's music listening life. I still remember when I first heard them, melted my mind away
Grief is the real deal
The fucking best
What was the song they played in the video?
I ended up ordering these records cause of this video.
@@AuroraDorealus depression and rhinoceros
@@fekdaleo 5 years ago, thanks!’
Yes! I LOVE Grief! SO glad to see him bring them up.
Sunn o))) such an amazing band! definitly not for everybody!
IH8YH not my thing, but he's a cool guy.
It took some time but they grew on me big time
Don’t use that as a motivation, I’m sure you’re cool enough to not use obscurity as a reputation builder
I just dont get it. It kinda sounds like the depths of hell. But no drums or any sort of rhythm... i just dont understand the appeal.
@@markitzero4777 it's nice to fall asleep to
YES! FANTASTIC BAND!!!!!! Greg, Steven, Attila, Tos, Oren, and everyone else are so awesome!
Who edits the videos? They are doing a really good job.
We've got a few editors. Jacob cut this one. He's awesome!
Thanks!
lotsa great information :)
I think he's being sarcastic.
Good job Jacob.... !!!
@@TheBigMclargehuge no he's not this is excellent editing
I fell in love with Grief! O_O Thank you so much!
This Man has excellent music taste! 🖤 my favorite What’s in my bag clip!
Best selects so far on any, ‘what’s in my bag’ !
Thanks!
loved this one! everything he pulled is awesome
Okay, when he pulled out the Vertigo soundtrack.
This guy knows what's up
Very cool video. Interesting picks!
I would say I'm surprised to see you here Myke, but when I think about it, it's not very surprising
melvins on quaaludes sounds promising tbh
literally downloading their discography atm because of that description
okay guy Grief recently started anew under the name Come To Grief. They're working on a new album and are touring.
check out spacebong if you like that sound
(Come to) Grief is awesome! If you like that sound check out Cough, meth drinker, fister, spacebong, primitive man,..
Grief is definitely required listening, takes the whole stoner rock thing to the next level
You guys keep getting awesome people to do this! Keep up the good work guys, thank you for putting these up.
Thanks for watching!
sunnn, melvins, and my fav miles davis record...............great episode!
I've been waiting for this! Most underrated Seattle band ever
Nice to see some Grief love. Criminally underrated.
Amazing selections!
"Litter the streets with your poison, no concern for the deadly consequence...." still rings through my brain regularly over 20 years later.
Thank you for this! grief is amazing!
Would love to see one with Dylan Carlson
Rebphoenix that would be so rad
Me too!!
Rebphoenix I'd love that!
00:45 - That's funny, in my 5th grade class, the teacher allowed us to bring in albums to play for the class on special occasions...we had this one kid in the class who was the youngest of 5 kids and had older brothers and sisters who were known burnouts that did drugs and got into trouble and this kid fascinated and scared me at the same time...he brought in Sabbath Sabotage to play and it blew me away...after that, I had know about Sabbath and lucky enough I had a friend on my hockey team that also had an older brother and he had all the Sabbath albums and we would go down to his basement and play them and all the other hard/heavy rock albums that he had.
holy moly this was a treat
Awesome project!!
Amazing choices!!!
Great Episode!!!!
ohhh man the taxi driver soundtrack is god tier
Chode Master yessir. Psycho suite is good too
listening to it when night driving feels like a sociopath
thanks chode master
wow cool. need more of this
Hell yes. Super solid stuff
long overdue. grateful
Excellent shop. He picked gems.
Wow. He has a very great taste and a great variety of genres. Very cool. I like all the things he mentioned too :) particular Miles and Bernard are extremely cool and influential.
Love Greg! listened to the stuff he chose
great episode!
Great pics!
was very happy to see the early soundgarden, didn’t see that coming!
Haven't been this excited for a whats in my bag in awhile.
Great one!
Hot damn that's a nice pile! Lovin' all the Vertigo respect too! \m/
Thanks Amoeba
This was great.
Great video, interesting picks!
“I don’t do movies about Taxis” Bernard’s response to Marty when he was requested for the score.
BEST EPISODE EVER!!! O)))))
I love his love for INCANTATION
Several years ago, I asked my local record store if they could order a Sunn O and Khanate album for me. Any albums would do. I had no idea what they sounded like. I was unprepared for both of them but they are so unique and menacing and truly two of the most unique albums in my collection.
If only i could do the same thing with my favorite bands, man. If only...
Living in Russia and listening to obscure music do not go along well.
phwarg, it's not about judgment, it's about awareness and availability. there are several "-in" stores, mostly in moscow and st petersburg. the rest of the country gets a tough break pretty much
What Sunn album did you get?
I did the same with Sigh and Vintersorg, both were unlike anything I'd heard.
amoeba can we please have a SLEEP whats in my bag?
That would be cool. It looks like they are playing the Fonda in LA at the end of January. We'll see if they have time to come in.
It would be full of weed so doubt they'd post lol
They already got High on Fire, but maybe OM would do it
I want to hang out with him!!! We love the same movies and music and I LOVE Sunn O)))!
I've been waiting for this! Now invite Stephen O'Malley on another episode!
Two favorite movie soundtracks...and Miles Davis...and Sabbath. Gonna have to check out Sunn O
What did you think?
Love what's in this bag!
Awesome, thanks for watching!
And Soundgarden!!!
You guys need to get maynard james keenan in the store for what's in my bag
That's true. It'd be funny tho
+mary Wright he would jus buy things he loves to be contradictory about being contradictory
how about no
Grief and Hitchcock? I knew I loved this man for a reason.
Nice episode!
it will blow your mind to see these guys live - also your eardrums
Yeeesssss I bought that Paranoid Super Deluxe edition recently also
melvins army represent!
I love his Slint Spiderland tattoo.
I bet his favorite song is the hum you hear when opening a fridge
Weezer is cancer.
particurly the slowed down version
Awesome to see Grief mentioned
Funny....the Sunn O))) guy buying something called. "The Power of the Riff"!
Sunn & Ulver, awesome lp
Unreal episode! I would love to see a Full of Hell episode!
he has incredible taste, to be expected I know but damn
Pretty unsurprising beyond my expecting him to be more into classical, like Iannis Xenakis, Krzysztof Penderecki or something, since they're composers with similar elements in their music to SunnO)))'s. Trippy.
Krzysztof Penderecki us so good!!
Great stuff !
Bonus points for Incantation & Grief !!!
I have no idea who this guy is, but he's pretty nice and chill. Interesting picks too!
I agree with him and Soundgarden
The sequence for taxi driver and the score gave me goat bumps...
Some strong picks!
instant like for that Grief album
Greg Anderson has a great taste!
That appears to be the Slint spider on his left arm.
L Vinson nice catch
Does this 6th Grade Crush know about this history? Thank goodness for her!!
I will never forget when my best friend introduced me to Sabbath when I was 19. Hearing Iommi was life altering for sure.
OH WHOA!!! He grabbed a Sabbath record! Shock an awe
It’s a true deluxe edition that includes 1 or 2 live shows, and, I’m assuming the Quadraphonic mix that is on the vinyl box.
Dude, I want your bag. Fucking awesome picks. Only wish that Taxi Driver OST was on vinyl.
Has anyone done a WIMB and not picked up a Miles Davis album? On the corner is definitely one of my favourites, thanks to it's many appearances on this channel
Bernard Herman now that is some heavy shit right there...
The choice of Grief solidifies this man's legend status. Only the tru know Grief.
Love your profile picture. Coma cinema rules. This video turned me into grief and I'm loving them
@@Oliver_Hallowee you taste is deserving! Enjoy, my friend
me and Gregg share the same fucking heaviness and era of soundgarden, fucking beautiful man
More metal artists please!
Greg Anderson to me is one of the best riff writers in metal. His riffs on Goatsnake are just so heavy and groovy... Ample Fire Within by Ascend has some amazing riffs as well. No wonder he's a Black Sabbath fan. Stephen O'Malley is more the guy that brings the drones and mood, while Anderson brings the groove, that makes for a good balance. For groovy and heavy riffs the only other guy that surpasses him is probably Justin Broadrick (although his return as Godflesh sucked). Plenty of other guys are way more technical, but these two can write the catchiest riffs.
