I was fortunate enough to work as a Grip on "Django Unchained," here in the New Orleans area, and I watched Jamie telling his hair and makeup people a story about hanging out with Rick James. He did the very best Rick James impersonation I've ever seen, and we were all falling out laughing at him telling the story. Jamie is a gentleman to everyone he meets. What Jamie is saying here is
when you have a great director,
all an actor has to do is deliver his line perfectly once out of many takes.
So instead of an actor struggling and bogging himself down by trying remember the entire script,
the actor should micro dissect and break down the scene line by line
and focus on perfectly delivering that particular action and line.
All a great director needs is one perfect take.
Then he can piece the scene together with a good editing team
in post production.
However, this can only be done when you have a good director.
If your director is trash,
You’re screwed.
Yes, I've always said that great directing can make up for bad acting but great acting can't cover for poor directing. That's why u see so many movies skimp on directing in the name of great actors and the movie is terrible.
At college I was shown that way with a paper or a project. Rather than be overwhelmed by the whole thing, segment it into smaller more manageable chunks
As they say, one thing at a time.
I love how he does impersonations he takes like very specific things about each person and humorously showcases them

Not only is Jamie Foxx one of my favorite actors, he's my horseman hero! He rode his own mare for Django. Her name is Cheetah. I freaking love this man and how well he rides. Django was my favorite movie as a little girl, it still is my favorite as an adult. He could really shine in the western genre, he has that rugged, but clean cut look, the man can communicate with a horse, and he's great at doing what actors do and that is pretending and having an imagination. He played Django so well, like I can describe the character to you. And you usually only get that feeling in books or Manga. His character reminds me of reading the hunger games, or little house on the prairie for the first time. Its magical when an actor can do that. Learnardo was good at Candie too, you couldn't wait for him to get smacked back into the stone age, but loved every second he was on screen being terrifying. He legit scared me as a kid.

I still can’t believe that the Prince of Bel Air walked from Django Unchained. You have one of the Greatest writer / directors of all time who wrote the part specifically for him and he turns it down. Lol. Like all previous stars who instantly received a 20 year turbo boost to their careers, he would now be up their. Instead he’s in a film called, “something” Earth or whatever. It has to go down as the biggest mistake in Hollywood history. But for everyone else, it was the best decision to get Mr Fox. You see, at the end of the day, the Universe always makes the right decision. Nice
Don't know if After Earth was the biggest flop in history but it wasn't great. He also turned down the role of Neo.
Will definitely would’ve made the movie more entertaining going against Sam J. And Leo. But Will is a odd guy with decision making I see
You have to see it from Will's perspective. Christoph Waltz is the main character of the film. It's "Django UNCHAINED" not "D'JANGO." Christoph is doing the un-chaining. He's IN THE ROOM when Jamie rescues his Damsel In Distress. He is the one who gets to kill the main villian, Calvin Candy (Leo DiCaprio) NOT D'jango, the presumptive main lead, who is relegated to killing the secondary villian(s), including Sam Jackson's character. If the racial roles had been reversed, you probably would've noticed that nuance as I did and Will (and Idris Elba, Jeffrey Wright and others). D'jango has no agency until Christoph GIVES IT TO HIM!!! Tarantino is an uber-talented writer and director, but based on his work, many black folk feel that he has some odd racial hangups. Had Spike Lee crafted this tale, those nuances would've been much diff'rent (although not necessarily a better film). But there likely would've been no Mandingo Death Match or D'jango leaving Brunhilda (?) outside to quietly wait for him (despite her having been enslaved and kidnapped for years; it was like he was just hopping out to get money from the ATM) as he wrought revenge upon the remaining Candy Plantation inhabitants. It's an entertaining film but very flawed narrative for many.
MiSTaH bOmBAsTiK I agree with you on that perspective. If Leo can accept not being the main character/star so could Will. The movie had an Allstar cast. Sometimes you do it for the culture not just to satisfy your ego.
MiSTaH bOmBAsTiK And please let’s keep in mind Django was a “slave” Doctor Schultz had to have held a certain superior relationship with django just to keep it authentic.
