This has been my first mechanical keyboard and it is an awesome experience. The low actuation linear switches took some getting used to, but I’m converted at this point. I was originally planning to do a custom keyboard, but when I saw this it was just too good. It is very distracting though, and makes me want to do typing tests all day.
Is it cocky?

SAME ITS SO GOOD!
Just a pro tip for anyone who orders the black model: it seems the reason why it scuffs so easily is because of a coating over the aluminum that is literally just brushing off with every pass. I believe washing it off with window cleaner (make sure that you do so when the keyboard is disassembled) or isopropyl alcohol and a paper towel. I did this myself and haven't had any scuffs or a weird powdery feeling since then! Fantastic board for the price, especially if you tune it that much more when you start modding it.
it doesn't chipped the coating?
@@pacjosephnovabos8765 Not in my experience, though after about a month of having this keyboard you may need to give it a bit of that treatment every now and then but its still holding well and is not NEARLY as chalkboard-y feeling as it was when I first took it out of the box, YMMV, though.
@spooksid3267 last question does the factory lube wear off in a month? Thank for taking your time answering, im new to this hobby and im planning to buy this as my first keebs.
@@pacjosephnovabos8765 No sweat! Can't really speak on the factory lubing as I went ahead and used some hand lubed WS Morandi switches and some hand lubed stabs as well, the switches it comes with if I recall correctly are alright at best but it's never a down side to change the switches down the line with this case! Sound profile of this case makes most lubed switches sound like a dream.
So morandi whites are compatible with this keyboard ?
Thank you for this video! I’m new to this keeby world, lol, and this is my second purchase. Now I’m inspired to MOD it - that before/after is VALID. Thank you so much for your channel!
I think the translucent sheet is meant to prevent the hotswap sockets shorting out on the bottom of the case / protect from direct contact of pcb and battery
I'm modding this keyboard and found that the force break mod needs to have the tape at different spots. The screw holes in the top cover protrude a little over 1mm and there's roughly a 1mm ring of contact at each of the 6 screw holes. You can see them at 7:01
The raised parts on the bottom housing seem to only be for indexing the top and the gaskets.
4:03 love that this was mentioned i think this could clear up a lot
legit bought it after you made the video on it and it's amazing. it's better than any of the keyboards i've ever used and it's so nice to type on. thanks for the video hipyo
I love your channel and have been watching it for sometime, cringing at the prices of custom keyboards and trying to find the best bang for the buck. I just got one of these and it's soooo good. My opinion isn't worth much, as I'm coming from a mac keyboard, but this keyboard is wonderful! Even my eight year old said "Wow, that sounds amazing! I want to type on it!" and they've never even heard of a mechanical keyboard before. I haven't tried modding it at all, it thocks real nice to me as it is.
Wow - for kicks and giggles I had just picked this keyboard up about a week ago and put the ceramic keys caps on it. But this board is absolutely amazing.
Wow! The tape mod is actually so good. Thank you for the vid
howdy hey, hipyo, i bought this keyboard a few days ago and couldn’t find any decent reviews, i was telling my friends i wish hipyo would post a video on this keyboard and you did! i was also wondering why there are so many variants of this! thank you very much hipyo keep it up ❤️
Pretty decent keyboard I would say, probably hindered by lack of VIA/QMK support. The plastic film is PET film, most recently released boards actually comes with these and does affect the whole acoustics, depending on the build of course.
I bought this one about a month ago when the price was even lower. Superb budget board. Tune the stabilizers and you are golden.
How low did it get??

@@Jdjdjrb I don't know, at launch it was 10 dl discount and another 10 for subscribing via gmail so at least you can get it to 90 on their website, as it is currently 100 but maybe on black friday
@@HipyoTech I bought it for 71€, was 80$ I think. Also a big plus is that shipping was included in the price. As a small critic of your review, you mentioned that there was no VIA compatibility which is true, but you could have mentioned that womier has its own software for this board that allows remapping of keys, macros and lighting effects. Its not QMK/VIA but its definitely usefull in its own way.
Woah! That sounds way better than I expected
just ordered mine off aliexpress with a nice braided cable too! super excited as this will be replacing my $18 temu keyboard lol (which honestly was great for the price)
I have spent more on one set of keycaps than the cost of this entire board- And it sounds AMAZING- great vid hipyo
Same 😭
I never comment on anything here, BUT this mod is the single most amazing and (keyboard-) life changing tips I have ever watched.
My Logitech G915 sounds and feels like a almost completely different keyboard. The only things I did, were this mod and lubing the switches and I am just stunned by the change.
Thank you for this and please keep up the amazing work, although you will have a hard time topping this 😀.
Love your channel! Very informative! But I must admit within the first 15 seconds I’m like “okay get to the clacking on the keyboard part!!!”
you know its a good day when hipyo tech uploads a video
I bought this board on Ali express few weeks ago and have been just waiting for someone to make a review cause it’s amazing for the price
Thank you so much for this video. I have been looking for a good budget hot-swappable keyboard, which blew me away for just $93.
I just got mine delivered and it looks like they actually fixed the side glow. I honestly can barely tell it's individual lights at all. Looks like they may have heard you on this one.
I absolutely love this keyboard. We got it in purple but admittedly did change out the switches to KTT Strawberry's and it sounds more thocky as opposed to clacky. My daughter tried it and it is now lost forever so I had to order the new red version. When ordering I suggest that you also buy the random keycap set for only an additional $10. The gradient purple set that we received is amazing, great quality, nice colors, good lettering and matches the purple theme. Thanks for the review Hipyo, this keyboard is worthy of your praise. Cheers!
I just acquired the SK71 and threw on some Matt3o MT3 Susuwatari keycaps from Drop and it sounds heavenly. 10/10 would recommend this particular setup for anyone! I have some Keebtape on order to do the tape mod myself but honestly I'm not so sure it even needs modification at this point.
You made me buy my first mechanical keyboard (the one in the video). The sound makes my brain melt in a good way.

Great video! It's encouraging to hear that the hobby has gotten so accessible. Should you still tape mod if there's already a layer of case foam at the bottom? Asking because I have a keyboard with case foam but it's still not as thocky as I'd like, but I'm not sure if adding tape at that point will make much of a difference.
I purchased the I purchased the Wormier and Yunzi version from Amazon. Both were the blue version. They are identical except for the badge on the Yunzi. The Yunzi was a little more expensive so I returned it.
Looking forward so some 75% action!
Got the Leobog Hi75 when it first came out and it's been a great board with some light mods. It actually has a PolyPropylene plate (hehe peepee) and if the first kit I've seen use a PET sheet on TOP of the PCB. I removed the PE foam on the PCB and it got even MORE foamy/creamy. It totally THOCCS with the case foam, plate foam, tape mod, and PET film sheets. This is despite a flex cut PCB with flex cut plate.
Bought this one as my office keyboard after the good review. I am so blown away by the quality for the money. Won't even bother modding it in any way. This was my second "enthusiast" keyboard after a redragon K552 with speed silver Akko switches, HyperX Pudding Caps, a tape mod, case foam aswell as modding and lubing the stabilizers.
The Womier SK-71 is really almost perfect out of the box. I really like the sound and feel of the switches, the case feels so high quality, it's heavy and feels sturdy. Connectivity has been perfect so far. I got the black one, since it suits my office setup and I really liked the twist with the keycaps. Thumbs up for that recommendation!
hey, thank you for the review! What about the scuffing issu Hipyo showed in the vid? How did you solve it?
I have developed a variation to the Hipyo Mod:
Instead of press'n'seal, you simply tape mod the top side of the PCB. Sound becomes more marbly and """thocky"""
Caution: ensure all the holes for your switches are cut out beforehand or you WILL get bent pins!
I just got this keyboard, it's my first time having one that isn't built into my laptop. Thank you for making this a fun adventure and way less scary than I always thought it'd be! I'm looking forward to trying out the tape stuff! ^_^
Just received mine yesterday and as of now I love it. I've never used anything like this before I've always used cheap nothing special keyboards and I'll never look back now.
I bought this keyboard a couple of moths ago and i gotta say, I absolutely LOVE this board. It's only my 2nd mechanical keyboard, and it's genuinely impressive how good it feels to type on for just $100.
how did you charge the USB
@@Silent12475 you dont its 2.4g

Man I NEED a TKL version of this so bad!!
I bought the yunzii version, very very good. btw there basically the same thing, so it doesnt matter which one you buy unless you want the little logo next to the arrow keys and the option for mute switches.
Same , just got mine a few minutes ago, oooo, the sound it makes is sooooo nice. Poppy clack? OOOOOOo so unique and mesmerizing. As you can see, I am really obsessed with typing on this beautiful mechanical machine, so I am going to type a whole ass essay to reply to your comment that is dated as five day ago. Can I say that this keyboard lowkey has that creamy sound too? Owh btw my keyboard is YUNZII AL71 with the linear aesthetically white switch, and blue in color. baby blue or sky blue to be exact. OOOOOO sounds SO MUCH GOOD. YES YES YES. No regret. This is also my 10th keyboard btw lmao.
Hey Hipyo! Are you planning on making a vid about the 8bitdo keyboard? I’d love to see what you think!
Picked this up in the "black" colorway with the letters on the front of the keys - really more a grey fade. It's incredible out of the box, beats the heck out of the Code board I was using in feel and sound. Thank you for the advice!
i plan on buying this one and in the vid he said that the black picks up a lot of skin and dust just by rubbing it. is that true?
Yo is the thing he said about picking up dust and skin true?
@@johannbeltran3272 I don't notice it much, no more than other darker keycaps
@@zach.forsline not that I've noticed much, no more than others.
I actually bought a barebones premium keyboard for USD 380 which didn't even come with stabilizers. After watching this video and because I was looking for a purple /lilac keyboard, I bought one (yes I used the link)
Damn was I blown away. It sounded better out of the box than any of the keyboards I've ever built. And I've spent hours tuning stabilizers and lubing switches but this damn board sounded exactly like a fully modded keyboard out of the box. If you are new to mechanical keyboards and don't need a numpad, this should be your go to. Follow Hipyo's force break and tape mod and it will sound better than you can imagine .
I did foam and tape mod on my rk68 pro (CNC milled aluminum case) with pbt keycaps it thocks so good.
suuuper good keyboard writing on it rn
5:24 I decided to buy this keyboard and I can say that they fixed the side lights and they are all blended now
I just picked the keyboard up, and I'm digging it over the RK84... except I miss the function key row... wehhh!!!
It's so close to perfect... SO CLOSE!!!
More nola content ❤
I’ve heard the plastic film inside the case helps with the battery not going kaboom or whatever 😂
Genuinely amazing how far this hobby has evolved lol. If I knew about this just a few days ago I might have heavily considered it over the Monsgeek M1 I just bought
same but i just got the keychron k8 pro..... but im loving it so far
@@zack-pn6oe Keychrons are nice. I've had a V1 for a while and my only complaint is the stabilizers that I never got around to fixing (and it's a bit clackier than I would like I guess).
I got the wooting 60he, i play Minecraft. Yeahhh, I might have wasted some money.
I preferred the stock keyboard sound because the modded sound was inconsistent depending on which keys were pressed, and almost sound like crisp packet crunch, which would drive me crazy after a while 🤣
i just snagged one! thanks so much for the recommendation. Gonna definitely do the mod once I get some electrical tape. Patiently waiting for the rainy75 to come out as well!
finally got it. was in the middle of removing all of the screws and... the 6th screw is stripped -.-
I think i stripped all of mine too... now what LMAO
Got the Yunzii version this week and im having to return it because of issues with the 2.4 ghz wireless connection. So I'm going to try the SK71 instead. Fingers crossed.
I always see people complaining about the "budget keyboard" prices and thought they were overreacting but then I converted the price to my local currency and I will be joining them
I already ordered one, and it's gonna be here tomorrow, and im just watching the video again to validate my purchase (my first mech keyboard btw)
Was it worth
love your THOCKING videos ❤❤
I bought one sounds like heaven and the look don’t get me started on that so beautiful recommend
Waited 8 long minutes for the mod part, but it was worth it❤
I purchased this keyboard about a month ago because I had seen some positive reviews on RUclips and was drawn to the incredibly low price (I paid only €73...). So, I was absolutely curious to see how it's possible to sell a full aluminum mechanical keyboard with switches and keycaps at such a low price, especially when all my other custom mechanical keyboards are well over €200. I must say I was absolutely impressed by the quality of this keyboard: CNC aluminum frame, gasket structure, case foam, plate foam, PE foam, good keycaps (and many extra keys for larger layouts), discreet linear switches (a bit scratchy despite factory lubrication), and some extra keys compared to the typical 65% layout, which can be very useful for assigning keys, especially here in Italy where we have the issue of accented letters. Most importantly, what convinced me was the excellent sound it produces right out of the box. Of course, with the mods we've seen in the video (force break and tape mod) and by changing the switches, you can achieve excellent sound quality, not far from much more expensive keyboards I own. Additionally, it has three operating modes (USB, 2.4 GHz, and BT) that can be really useful. The drawbacks (because there are some) I have encountered are: plate-mounted stabilizers instead of PCB-mounted ones. They need some work because they rattle and are poorly balanced out of the box. However, once properly lubricated and secured to the plate, they do their job. The keyboard is gasket-mounted but is not very flexible, especially inexplicably in certain specific areas. The keyboard is not compatible with VIA, although the Vomier driver still allows you to remap keys as desired. The RGB effects are decent (but personally, I'm not interested in them). In short, an excellent purchase, given the incredibly low price I paid (€73, including shipping from China to Italy), perfect for office use, quick tests on other PCs, and so on. Moreover, it's "in stock," so no tedious and exhausting group buys. In the end, I gave it to my nephew who had been looking for a wireless aluminum mechanical keyboard for a while, and he was completely satisfied.
@@MarcoM10361 grazie!
Got this board as well and apart from adding tape and force break, it was already good to go as is!
Have you tried it's cousin? I think it's called the Xinmeng / Womier A66 - which is knobbed version and instead of a side lights, it has a Badge at the back! (possibility of customization!)
@@simplenimbus are you referring to the A66?
Hey Hipyo, for a 75 you could try "EPOMAKER x LEOBOG Hi75". It's another budget aluminum keyboard.
Is there any noticeable difference in the keycaps between the different rebrands like the yunzii, womier?
the tape modded version sounds incredible
Hey! Thank you gor making me discover this board. I LOVE its sound and I even modded my first keyboard thanks to you.
HOWEVER, I am missing my 75% layout. Have you found one that is as cool and 75% ? Thankss
I got the xinmeng branded one last week and it’s amazing
I WANT THAT DESKMAT :O
Wow, that is a pretty nice looking keyboard
wow, tape mod really do magic
Hipyo - have you considered adding the keyboards to your shop and selling them to viewers? I don’t live anywhere near Seattle but would love to buy one and cover shipping.
Bought this but in red.
The XVX site now has red and silver and matching keycaps.
The Yunzii is the same board but some pros and cons with them.
Pro: Yunzii offer pink and green in addition to all the colors of Womier.
Con: Yunzii only provides the keycaps on the board, Womier gives you a full set if keycaps you can potentially use on another board.
I also personally prefer Womier's minimal look without branding.
"genuinely insane on how cheap stuff is getting" top tier comedy
This keyboard is a great option for general usage. Not particularly excel in a specific aspect. For example: it is too long for a 65 layout, if you play FPS then it kinda stick out and poke you if you tilt your keyboard like me. Missing the F row for editing job or MOBA game.
But it is great for typing job like copy writing or office job since it is MAC Compatible and my work laptop is a Mac.
Other than that, it is also easy to assemble/disassemble, take no effort to mod, good stock stab (minor lubing is required). Overall: Great entry level keyboard
Oh damn just noticed it doesnt have the F row 🥲 already bought it..
How do you control volume level and screen lightning without F row on Mac? Usually there are there
It works great for fps imo, its only a problem if you tilt and you could just buy different keycaps
a keyboard that finally looks like i would buy
I bought the s-k71 as my first mechanical keyboard and it feels and sounds great! would really recommend to anyone looking for a budget keyboard.
Any key chatter? Like double typing
@@Lee77571 As far I used it there was no "dc" or double tapping or key chatter, I play gd and osu so if there was any it would have been noticable
Ended up with the xvx s k80, the unapologetically plastic, but that rgb and cool screen lmao, also compared to the keyboards I've been used to it's really nice
That is surprisingly good for a cheap keyboard
If you wanna do a video of the Royal Kludge RK75 I'd definitely watch - Got one recently and I'd be interested in how you might mod it.
Looks fire
something with electrical tape is that overtime it will become a sticky mess to try and remove
Hipyo there's another one that looks similar to bothe the yunzii al71 and the womier sk71 , it is the xin meng m71 and is cheaper than both of those . I saw it on aliexpress
I did the tape mod on the case and now I have RGB leaking from the sides of the case because there's a tiny gap so if that bothers you maybe reconsider putting the tape. I cant really hear the difference but might remove the mod since the leaking RGB is bothering me
1st hour hang!!
already know how much it is because im gonna get it very soon.
you should do a review on the drunkdeer a75 gaming keyboard and the rapid trigger feature. Because it is also one of the best sounding gaming keyboards i have heard and i am considering buying one and if you have a apex pro you should compare them
Hey buddy, thanks so much for the recommendation of a great keyboard. I watched the video and jumped straight onto Amazon and bought one. Arrived today and, holy schmoly it's good!! Like, very good for the price. But...can you help me with something? I can't figure out how to tell what the battery level is on the keyboard. I mean...I've gone through the very small amount of instructions, checked YT AND looked all over the internet, but it's like they don't want you to know or something! Sheesh.
Do you know how to test the battery level?
I got this in early august and have rebuilt it several times, my latest iswith bsun x switches and WOB abs keycaps, I actually like the clackiness (personal preference, right?), and it just sounds good. I'd love to see what you think of it without the foams and maybe just a little polyfill in the case.
i see you own this sk71, and you're using Bsun switches? is there any issue? is it compatible? I really like this blue version colour, and i have WS Morandi switch and Bsun RAW Clear Tactile. Can you advise me making the decision?
YO U ACTUALLY MADE IT
The sheet is just anti short, so if you somehow bottom out the pcb to the case, it doesn't short. I don't believe it makes any significant difference in sound or any at all:)
Can you buy the keycaps separately? They look nice.
can you review a typewriter keyboard of ur choice please?
Guessing doesn't have QMK/VIA support otherwise would be perfect, plus 75% layout would be perfect.
Hi, The 8-Bitdo keyboards were just released a few days ago, and I was wondering if you could review them? I'm debating whether to get one or not 😄
smell bad!? when i got it smells like flowers and i got a wave of nature feeling
i have this keyboard and its really nice, i swapped out the switches for lavenders and tape modded it. the only thing is the gaskets are kinda bad
Haha neat. I got a keychron wireless already, a V2, but yeah this is neat.
Maybe 200 dollars considering the look and the THOCKNESS
The plastic sheet‘s primary task is not the sound but to eliminate the risk of any shorts on the pcb due to flex and contact with the metal case
Oooooooooooo
I wanna buy it so bad it looks and sounds so good
Hello hipyo, im loving ur videos and theyre so beneficial and light funny
I just want to ask if you know any foam branding that is less expensive than killmat, killmat is roughly around 100$ on amazon so was thinking about any alternative
yunzi would be an interesting material to make keycaps out of...
Howdy hey. I was wondering if you could make a video where you mod a 75% keyboard in ways, we can do at home. I think the 75% keyboard layout is the layout of choice of many people, so if you got an Affiliate link, you would maybe get enough money out of it, that it would pay of- Love your videos!
