As you so correctly point out the primary audience for this keyboard is not people like yourself, keyboard enthusiasts or afficionados, but rather a segment who generally know little about keyboards as a whole. For them "tactile" doesn't have any bearing in the sense it does for you, it's not a way to describe the function of the underlying switch below the keycap, but rather it is something that is connected with the sense of touch. This is something which holds true for all keyboards, whether they are mechanical, membrane, or even micro switches or dome switches, it's all tactile. A touch keyboard, or an on screen keyboard on a phone or a tablet, is not a tactile experience though. So his marketing material, at least in this aspect, is spot on, just not for you. definitely have a similar feeling when I see folks recommending the sort of stereotypical “gamer” keyboard for like $80-$90 or more when other boards with increased functionality (e.g. key remapping with VIA) / more desirable mounting (e.g. gasket vs. tray mount) are available for the same price.
Maybe if we find out where those extra 6 months of development went, we'll find the alternative South facing LED PCB and the additional foam sitting next to them! So that it'll STILL be more overpriced than every other sub-$100 board out there! Yaaay!
Say what? A social media GURU upcharging their viewers for garbage? Who could have ever seen this coming? Seriously though. As soon as I saw he sells courses for such insane prices, I knew this keyboard would be nothing special. Now, while I have no idea if he is productivity expert, he definitely is a social media expert. He knows well enough how to avoid brand damage. Of course he avoided the pitfall of drop shipping or even white labeling and got a company to slightly customize a product instead.
Damn that’s disappointing. Instead of calling it a productivity board, he could just release it with a custom branded design as merch/a way for fans to support him. Would still be an overpriced keyboard but less scammy. The most productive keyboard is the one you feel comfortable typing on, and that varies from person to person!!
Ali Abdaal has been drinking his own koolaid for years now. He literally explained how to watch anime series at 3x speed because that makes you "more productive". If you think watching them is so unproductive then maybe just... don't.

Don't believe everything you hear. This guy can maybe judge how good the keyboard is. But he has no idea what it is like to build a keyboard company. It is impossible for a small business that just started to compete with the pricing of big brands. Please learn to think for yourself and realize that there is more than one perspective.
@@iamnotcreativeatall9907 Thats not judging, thats speaking facts. He showed everything about the scammers keyboard and comapre it with other brands. Seems that you are his type of target, even with evidence you would still get this piece of crap
Only a quarter way through while watching. On the "tactile" front, I'll admit the custom keyboard i built myself uses the clicky Kahle greens (sage? I can't remember but they're green and clicky) alongside some low profile keycaps from Aliexpress of all places on an Epomaker (oh jeebs.... Just realised i made so many keyboards in my quest for the perfect keyb that i can't remember which one i used... Damn you, Hippyo, and your vids getting me into this!) Anyway, there's something nommy to me about that click-thock, so if he's talking about switches i can understand what he means (it's still a warcrime during game sessions using VOIP, but my work productivity has increased dramatically) Edit: I just got to the switch part. *LINEARS*!?! Gorram tactile-traitor! To the gulag with him!
Let’s be honest, if your entire job revolves around telling people how to be productive you are not worth taking seriously; the most it seems like the productivity gurus do is produce grift.
Lofree, although not very on the custom keyboard side, they're at least trying to make A LOT OF intersting products, and the quality plus aesthetics of the products are very nice. Now being in this keyboard hobby rabbit hole, looking at the RUclipsr I once watched... the feeling is just complicated. I might actually buy this board if I didn't know anything about keyboard and looking for a daily driver 😢
I've been enjoying the keyboard content, but also Hipyo is a man that looks exactly like a guy that would review keyboards (complimentary). As a man who also looks like I should review something niche, I feel seen.
I came here after the ali abdaal video, and I am disappointed. He ignored half of your arguments (understandable because he probably didn't have anything to say against them). Still, he made it sound like you only critiqued his marketing and were hung up on the months and the thing that he as a creator doesn't have to encourage his buyers to go to competitors. I still disagreed with him on those points, but you were critiquing the keyboard itself and I didn't feel like he did address this.
I found this video to be quite disappointing, bordering on populist and sensationalist. While your points about the keyboard might be valid, I believe the approach you took was rather unpleasant.
Explain how this video is "populist" and "sensationalist" please, as I don't entirely understand how those words are meant to be taken. Also how was the approach unpleasant, just curious.
In my opinion, the video comes across as "populist" and "sensationalist" because it exaggerates the keyboard's flaws early on, even though the creator later admits that the product isn't that bad. This inconsistency undermines the critique and mirrors the very marketing tactics being criticized when he claims Ali exaggerated the keyboard's marketing. Additionally, the video seems to be leveraging Ali Abdaal's audience for views, which seems hypocritical given his critique of Ali for using his own audience. Lastly, considering the channel's size, the production quality-script, editing, etc.-doesn't meet the expectations I have for a RUclipsr of this size.@@hypr7213
I like his way of doing it since I don't like the people who is too lazy to do some reseach but still want to appear to be "productive" in the beginning 😝😝
I use a 31 year old IBM Model M keyboard with catastrophic buckling mechanisms on my current machine, and it's awe-some -- types so fast. This video reminded me of the design because IBM added weights to that keyboard at the time, and my own keyboard weighs about 4.5 pounds. I do have a second keyboard at the ready, though, because although I'm pretty in love with the Model M, it's really really noisy, and I can't really use it if I'm in a meeting or on the phone. Anyway, thanks for the great videos!
First recommendation after this video was "I started a new business. It didn't go well..." from Ali Abdaal, with a picture of him holding this keyboard.
I'm here 6 months later watching this for the first time and the video in the top right corner of my screen is Ali's channel. Titled "I Started a New Business. It Didn't Go Well..." with a picture of him holding the exact keyboard in your video, color and everything posted 3 months ago. Btw I typed this whole comment out on my not gimmicky 60% factory built mechanical keyboard that I didn't build myself. I have no idea how I got here, I'm far from a keyboard expert. I just like clicky mechanical keyboards and didn't need to do hours of research to get a good quality keyboard. I'm not sorry for anyone who wasted their money, purchasing a keyboard sold by someone who has literally nothing to do with the industry. Even if @HipyoTech had his own keyboard company, I still probably wouldn't have considered it until after a few years of generational research and development. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand the difference between years of manufacturing testing, research, and development. To deliver a product that your customers are specifically looking for. Even the most reputable companies in any industry get it wrong sometimes. At least there's a better chance of them listening to their consumers and bouncing back with a better product. All these customers got, was a onetime rip off. I wouldn't bank on someone like that bouncing back, addressing all the issues to give you a better product. It's not that hard to not get scammed, literally just open your eyes and use your brain. Anyway, cool channel and audience keep up the good work.

Its not really cash grab. They are not an agency that is solely based on tech products, its just a side stuff for making more productivity. Moreover since they are not a tech industry, they don't have as good relations with the manufacturing industries and therefore causes more time and money.
@@kamdinsvoid ur right, it’s worse.. taking advantage of people that don’t know much about this kind of stuff. Scum thing to do. To anyone reading this just build ur own ❤️.
@@kamdinsvoid He admitted in his video that this product wasn't a priority for him at all, he didn't have high standards for the product, and it was meant for people who didn't know anything about mechanical keyboards. What makes it not a cash grab, because he said so?
@@TBone4983 So every business in the history of the world is a cash grab, including the one you work for. Got it.
@@TBone4983 It is not a cash grab because he makes no real money on it. The guy already chose to leave millions on the table just because he decided to do things he stands behind and enjoys. Do you really think he would need a keyboard to make more money. If he wanted to he could make way more more easily.
Give us a keyboard when you break 1 million.
definitely have a similar feeling when I see folks recommending the sort of stereotypical “gamer” keyboard for like $80-$90 or more when other boards with increased functionality (e.g. key remapping with VIA) / more desirable mounting (e.g. gasket vs. tray mount) are available for the same price.
Please DONT spend $5,000 on a course 😂
Maybe if we find out where those extra 6 months of development went,
we'll find the alternative South facing LED PCB and the additional foam sitting next to them!
So that it'll STILL be more overpriced than every other sub-$100 board out there! Yaaay!
the next video recommended after this is fro Ali Abdaal: I started a new business, it didn't go well
Productivity keyboard without F row and numpad....
Where those 6 months😭
a new hipyo vid, truly a blessed day
I’ve been watching a few of your videos. Subscribed after this. Really enjoy your keyboard vids!
Damn that’s disappointing. Instead of calling it a productivity board, he could just release it with a custom branded design as merch/a way for fans to support him. Would still be an overpriced keyboard but less scammy.
The most productive keyboard is the one you feel comfortable typing on, and that varies from person to person!!
first for the first time ;) im loving my zoom 75 thanks too your review!!!
I would never trust a “productivity expert” who has a wireless clip-on mic that he HOLDS. In his HAND.
yeaaa!! new vid!!🎉
i love ur vids! ❤
(and congrats for 904k! 🎉)
omg ty I never thought I'd hit 904k
Ali Abdaal has been drinking his own koolaid for years now. He literally explained how to watch anime series at 3x speed because that makes you "more productive".
If you think watching them is so unproductive then maybe just... don't.
exposing the scammer is savage things to do. kudos to you man. hope many people others like you exposing an overprice product. that the price value didn't meet the quality.
Ali definitely got that keyboard from AliExpress
Don't believe everything you hear. This guy can maybe judge how good the keyboard is. But he has no idea what it is like to build a keyboard company. It is impossible for a small business that just started to compete with the pricing of big brands. Please learn to think for yourself and realize that there is more than one perspective.
To call someone a scammer is a big claim, and without providing any strong evidence, it is just as scammy.
@@iamnotcreativeatall9907 Calm down Ali, your keyboard is shit
@@iamnotcreativeatall9907 Thats not judging, thats speaking facts. He showed everything about the scammers keyboard and comapre it with other brands.
The conclusion is not a opinion, sufficient evidence out there to call this keyboard a scam... either you are Ali, or you are the one that haves no clue and need to learn to think for yourself and understand what is in front of you.
Seems that you are his type of target, even with evidence you would still get this piece of crap
How can a keyboard without a numpad be considered as the pinnacle of productivity tools ?
Only a quarter way through while watching. On the "tactile" front, I'll admit the custom keyboard i built myself uses the clicky Kahle greens (sage? I can't remember but they're green and clicky) alongside some low profile keycaps from Aliexpress of all places on an Epomaker (oh jeebs.... Just realised i made so many keyboards in my quest for the perfect keyb that i can't remember which one i used... Damn you, Hippyo, and your vids getting me into this!)
Anyway, there's something nommy to me about that click-thock, so if he's talking about switches i can understand what he means (it's still a warcrime during game sessions using VOIP, but my work productivity has increased dramatically)
Edit: I just got to the switch part. *LINEARS*!?! Gorram tactile-traitor! To the gulag with him!
In my currency showing >13900.
The current one i am using is
Ali has responded! What are your thoughts on his video?
Needs more thock
Mate, I gotta say I have not seen your video in a long time, but this one I really enjoyed. Kudos to you on this one!
To put it simply, this is not worth the price it is advertised at, compared to what you could get with a bit of research done.
Hipyo needs my comment to spend 5 thousand dollars
So it's for a British market but it's ansi only?
Absolute legend. Pretty much bang on with it being a half assed OEM mod for big name markup price from what ali said himself. Good job
Let’s be honest, if your entire job revolves around telling people how to be productive you are not worth taking seriously; the most it seems like the productivity gurus do is produce grift.
if Ali had access to this hyper productive keyboard during r&d he could've made this in 1 week instead of 18 months!
I might actually buy this board if I didn't know anything about keyboard and looking for a daily driver 😢
a productivity keyboard without an F row is criminal..
That looks like a royal kludge keyboard with different keycaps.
I've been enjoying the keyboard content, but also Hipyo is a man that looks exactly like a guy that would review keyboards (complimentary). As a man who also looks like I should review something niche, I feel seen.
Has he responded?
He uploaded a video a month ago, that he screwed up... 36 minutes, keyboard in the thumbnail.
He was so productive that he forgot the num pad so a productive keyboard...
Do not waste your money for that dude !
I think you forgot that not everybody who buys a keyboard is a massive nerd who wants to research keyboards.
Great review, thank you! As a time management coach myself, I appreciate your take on this "productivity" keyboard. Keep up the great content.
How productive can he be if it took him 12 months to make a mediocre keyboard?
I have like 15 keyboards, I love both of my mains. I'm not even in the market for a new keyboard. But I've been binge watching this videos all day.
Can't wait for the Hipyo video where he reviews membrane keyboards as a whole so you don't have to!
I've never seen 5 grands in my life
"oh no" with Hipyo's "ooooh yeeeah" in the background lol
Those classes sound shady
It’s super funny how he was like “this keyboard is SUPER light and portable” and then he glued big metal weights inside it
The only question i have on this is, WHY IS HIS MIC ON A FORK???
That's exactly what i was thinking the whole video x'D
First recommendation after this video was "I started a new business. It didn't go well..." from Ali Abdaal, with a picture of him holding this keyboard.
Me seeing all the "cheap" keyboards was like your reaction to seeing the $5000 course.
I wouldn't worry too much about criticising a course scammer, I'm pretty sure they are used to it haha
Your VOICE OVER VOICE is great. Not going to lie, kind of why I watch. Something about it and your staccato cadence.
I have a recommended video of Ali holding up a keyboard and the text says “I failed”
