Remove and replace driveway-Start to finish

- Join the concrete crew on a couple of hot June Wisconsin days as we remove an old busted up asphalt driveway and replace with a new poured concrete driveway. This one went really good from start to finish and really came out nice. A few have asked for a bit longer of a video so here you go.
We used our skid loader to break up and load the old driveway into our dump trucks on the first day. The next step was to set the forms for the concrete and grade the area with gravel. After compaction, we were ready for concrete. That was the end of day one. Unfortunately the following day was a rain day. Thankfully the weather cleared the next morning so we were able to pour the driveway, finish it, strip the forms, and clean up. The concrete was very cooperative on pour day and easy to finish.
The customer’s hair is unprecedented! Outstanding work!
If you look a mexican show its calles doctor chapatin the homeowner looks just like him
…best RUclips comment ever🤣
It's quite impressive
That's the senior Dutchboy haircut.

Don’t you love it when the customer comes over to you and starts telling you how to do your job lol
It was kind of funny though when he called it a "divot" 😂
comes with the job
@@VictoryOutdoorServices I know, made me laugh too. We both know the technical term is "blemish". lol another great video! Just wondering what is the technical term for a micromanaging customer like this? Makes me feel for my contractor that I was able to hire to install my 3800ft2 metal roof. I negotiated the price to include a discount for me helping him. I am not sure why he kicked me off the roof and I ended up on the cleanup crew! I thought I was learning a lot with all my questions and comments! ha.
@@VictoryOutdoorServicesfix your divot! 🤣
You guys make this look fun. I know it's hard work, but when you're with a crew of experienced workers with a boss who has a good spirit, it makes a world of difference. I like how you took a minute to talk about the concrete truck drivers, giving them credit for their part in the job. Sounds like you have good relationships with everyone in the business and I bet it pays off. I enjoy coming home from my long day at work and watching you guys crushing it!
Thank you for the thoughtful comment. That's awesome.
Your not lying about hearing concrete trucks blocks away and 100% right about treating drivers with respect.
Hahaha dude I swear my brain is tuned into the sound of particular trucks.
You forgot to ask him about his shoes " Do you have safety shoes because those aren't going to cut it " LOL I was waiting for that
I was so focused on that hair I totally forgot 😂

Bang on bro, I call them boss when I speak to them.. doesn’t cost anything to be polite.. easy money
First off I don't even do concrete but have watched the last 20 or so videos from start to finish. The videos are spot on, a great mix of the work being done, the comradery between all the guys & the top notch works that you all do.
I can see this channel being as big if not bigger than odell complete concrete. Keep up the great work
Wow man, thank your for watching! I'm glad you enjoy them.
Best, and most honest concrete guy I have ever seen!
Wow, thank you!
I always chuckle when you say easy money easy money. I know I started my trades four years ago doing foundation walls and footings. Great workout program.
You sound like an amazing contractor. I've been driving a mixer just over a month now. Learning at a lot but so much more to learn.
Thank you. We appreciate you guys.
Ryan’s videos have came such a long way since then wow big difference
Man you seem like a solid boss. Work smart and on site with the guys. Place I'm at is backwards but they pay well. Poured and stamped 4 different 7 meter Jobs. You guys take your time enjoy the day and get shit done at the same time. I'd definitely rather be in an environment like yours rather than mine. I'd take 5$ less
It messes with my OCD every time I see the skidsteer with a missing tooth on the bucket. Just started watching all your videos in order and can't stop binging them lol
Always impressed nobody around me cuts all the joints in like you do looks great man!!!
Thank you.
You treat people the way you wish to be treated. I really enjoy watching your videos sir!
Thank you, I appreciate that.
Pickle juice will help with your dehydration. I know this is a old video but I just found your channel and trying to watch all these videos in a week!
Just found your channel today and have watched 6 or 8 videos you and your guys represent our trade really well and your quality is spot on. Wish you and your crew a successful year.
Thank you. That means a lot.
Man u should have 100s of guys workin for u u no how to get the best from each person god bless you sir
I’m amazed as to how straight, clean and sharp your control joints are. Keep at it Brotha.
Thank you, I feel like good straight clean control joints really make a job shine.
Thank you, I have drove rear and front discharge trucks for 41 years. Most contractors are courteous screaming and yelling will get you nothing but a pile of concrete to drag out. Every body has to learn and some can just do a better job than others. You turn out some high quality work part of that is you use good mix, 7 bag is good mud no performance mixes just straight cement mix. Sets more reliably gives you more butter to finish and resists salt and chloride damage.
Thank you man, thank you for watching!
I'm glad you help out and respect the drivers. When I first started the were a couple contractors that were terrible to work with. The one would get so mad when I showed up to his jobs. I did the same with him as other contractors yet he was the only one to complain. We were glad when he changed suppliers.
I dealt with the same ready mix company for 20 years And since I only had a 2 man crew ,, some of the drivers would pitch in if we needed help ! And I would give them $20 dollars or so !! Good company with some good drivers !! All rear discharge mixers ! Never had a front discharge truck driver help !!!
Yeah for sure, once in a while a truck driver will help out here and there but its really rare. I just assume the redi mix company tells them not to help for liability reasons.
I love your attitude and your banter back and forth with people would love to work for you glad I came across these somehow. Subbed for good luck on ur ventures
Thank you man. I appreciate that,.
just came across your channel, I’ve watched 3 vids or so, I’ve enjoyed every single one. For sure will subscribe! EASY MONEY!
Running low on videos to watch good stress relief after working all day.✔🇨🇦
I can attest to the 115 degrees in Arizona. It’s actually 117 today. Not a concrete guy but I’m a superintendent for a general construction company and man it is brutal. I was a roofer for many years
Thats just TOOOO hot! Although we get the brutal cold in January. 🥶
Glad your channel is starting blow up. Keep up the great work you guys have a great system better than most crews I’ve seen:
Much appreciated!
3 people to be cool to:
Your barber

Ive never seen a concrete truck driver make it look so easy
Been watching a lot of your video's in the last week and love the call to the concrete place. How it's done just when you need it. I always thought that you'd book the concrete well in advance. Like days prior to the job. Loving the video's. Definitely have your set crew who love what they do and are great at it.
Thank you, I appreciate it. I order concrete one week in advance and it is put on a "will call." Which means I need to call and confirm the order and make it a "go" at least one hour before I actually need it to arrive. The call that is on video is just the confirmation order, not the initial order. I hope that makes sense.
@@VictoryOutdoorServices it's weird that I got this comment notification days ago but you replied months ago. I appreciate the reply. Love the video's.
"always ready, whether im ready or not im still ready" Bugs is legit!
Hey, great job....When the customer asked about the "divet" thinking you were done after the bull float was kinda funny....
I get that a lot. People thinking we are done when we are just getting started. I wish it was that easy! 😂
Top marks to you and your team you know how to get the best out of everything you do
Work takes up the majority of our time. You have to enjoy your work or you will be miserable forever. Even if a person doesn't love the type of work they do, they should still find the good parts of it and enjoy those parts.
Great looking job. I agree it’s great working for great people that appreciate your work. It makes you feel good as a professional contractor. I am just doing residential now commercial work is unsatisfying. You can give a top notch job on a commercial site and you won’t even get a pat on the back.
Thats true, plus with residential you get paid right away. I love seeing people smile at the end of a job, it really makes my day even if I worked my butt off.
when the client said there's a divot there I said "long way to go yet buddy" then you said "we still have several steps to go" i had a good laugh. keep it up. been binge watching all the jobs. its cool seeing the similarities on how you run a job even though your on the other side of the world

I love watching you guys hustle man. It’s so great. It’s a breath of fresh air to see guys still busting butt to get that paycheck and making sure that your guys get paychecks too.
I appreciate that. I just wish more young guys would be interested in the trades. Trade labor is at a crises point right now and only getting worse.

I wish I had the time but there is a new one tomorrow morning for you.
Just cus I felt like talking about it
Currently working on a residential site where they want the backyard completely renovated. New pool, plumbing, fireplace, new patio everything.
The pool is in, so is the plumbing, we’re going to be pouring the fireplace and the patio. They want a custom fireplace.
Right now tho, we just finished demoing a concrete block countertop. Was real fun man. Easy money man, let’s go
We were pouring a large footer one time and the boss man started yelling and cussing at the driver because he strolled off the plywood and into the grass but not really his fault the boards weren't lined up with the route he was gonna have to go. And I kid you not that guy dumped the whole load in the one corner and backed out. Wasn't funny at the time because we had to shovel it from there and the forms got a bit moved in the process but looking back its humorous. Just shows the power of respect.
Am I the only one that has never done with but has binged these videos
Ryan the look Bugs gave you when you said about drinking the pickle juice was awesome I think he was calling BS. Don't knock it till you try it. You guys do very nice work... I would give my right arm to have Bugs and Al working for me.
Ha ha, I didn't knock it at all. It was hot today again and I ate a pack of pickles from Kwik Trip. Yeah Bugs and Al are good dudes. They can be temperamental but they are great guys.
Damn fine skid loader driving sir!
Thank you, lots of years of experience.
I used to get offended when the customer would watch me work and point out things he thought were wrong. 20 years later I just talk them through it and enjoy my days.
The customers talking to me doesn't bother me a bit. I actually like talking to them. I would rather answer questions while I am there than through email 3 days later.
You respect of concrete drivers means a lot because they can make it hard on a finisher I know 15 years Sherman industries birmingham alabama.

Bet you don't hate it when they hire you for the job and when the final payment is made.
He asked a harmless question about it. Guy was just curious, I don't see anything wrong with that. Can't expect your customers to hire people to do concrete and be concrete experts at the same time lol
Another quality work from y'all.. I don't see a laser level, y'all level with a stick level?? Greetings from Houston Tx.
I do have a really nice laser in the truck but most of the jobs have relatively simple pitch that I can work out with a string and level in the time I could run to the truck and grab the laser. I'm probably just too lazy. 😂 On the more difficult jobs I definitely pull the laser out.

Whenever dowling into existing you should always lay a stick or 2 of bar across and on top of dowels
Probably not a bad idea.
Yea im adding 5 feet to a 170ft drive today and allot core drilling was done so I'm doin a bar across the tops also
As far as the difference in summer weather between the Southwest and the East Coast is the difference in humidity. East coast is high humidity and the Southwest is although higher temperature but it's a dry heat.

I like your music selection
Thank you, I try to capture the mood of the day with the music. Music can either compliment or totally ruin an otherwise good video.
@@VictoryOutdoorServices yeah I hate when otherwise good content is ruined by terrible music. Besides, pouring either feels like a symphony or a circus. And I'd recon your pours err on the side of symphonies.

You guys do an awesome job and you should get new plywood

Great pour. Talking about concrete truck drivers I pretty much I've done a little flat work but I pretty much been concrete walls and I was on the wall and so was my boss and the driver backed up and hit my boss in the chest with the shoot and man my boss was peed off got up ran around drag the driver out of the truck and they started fighting. Here in Missouri the truck drivers around here are pretty much don't care. You got a really watch them they will run you over.

Hey man. I would recommend a concrete cut. Makes the cut deeper therefore less cracks appear. Joints don’t go down to far which could cause problems for cracks. Just a recommendation from what my company has been doin for the past 25-30 years and our driveways last over 10 years without a crack.
I totally agree, regular jointers don't go far enough down. Most of them are only 3/4" deep. The jointers that you see me using I have custom made at a machine shop for that very reason. It is a full 1 1/2" deep for the walker and 1 1/4" deep for the hand jointers so they don't bottom out. I'm not sure why none of the big manufacturers haven't figured that out yet. You would think they would know better. I spent $4000 on custom walking and hand jointers because of that. Very good observation, we think alike 👍
@@VictoryOutdoorServices Ahh I see. We started with jointers and we noticed our concrete would crack on the joints and just rise up and down during summer and winter. So we just went to soft cut and works for us now. Doesn’t take to long and tbh we like it, but yes manufacturers should make it longer for a deep cut. When I’m pouring 4-5 inch concrete jointers won’t do much but make a small cut inside.
Excavator? Lol I’m just messing with you but better in this application for sure. Appreciate your channel and your work.
Thank you

I got a question they pulled the wire then step on it doesn't that put it back down on the ground and not in the middle of the Concrete?
Not all the way to the ground.
The aggregate keeps it from touching the ground. Closer to the bottom is ideal
No, concrete is not like water at all. Actually if you accidentally pull it too high it is very difficult to stomp back down below the surface.

hey Victory Outdoor Service picker juice or salt water does work to help stop cramps While it hasn't been proven yet, researchers posit that pickle juice may help cramps by triggering muscular reflexes when the liquid contacts the back of the throat. This reflex shuts down the misfiring of neurons in muscle all over the body, and “turns off” the cramping feeling.
Do you ever do picture frame, where you broom, then run your control joint and edge tool and leave that part smooth?
Yes, one of my videos shows it.
