This channel deserves a million subscribers and one day you will get there. Keep up the hard work , these videos make my whole week 💪
@@benwright2705 I don't think they were saying that pouring is easy. It seems to me that is was more the point of view of a client hearing it and thinking they may be paying more than they need to.
I felt a bit weird with that too - that’s like going in the Walmart wanting some new GPU and stuff and the Tech guy just said that infront of you… I kinda think it’s rude tbh
@@hunterbriggs7624 As a contractor. when you have done it long enough. You can kinda get a feel for the people you are dealing with pretty quickly. What type of humor you can get away with. What you cant. In over 40 years I find most people just want to be talked to as just folk. People I find tend to respond better to a genuinely friendly person just being themselves than putting on some sort of fake front or a serious as death all business stuffed shirt. Likely the "Easy Money" there is something more to the story and part of a larger conversation prior. Nobody actually thinks its "easy money". I like this guy. Again having been in the trades for over 40 years and now watching the RUclips vids from various trades You can tell the real deals from the made for RUclips consumption snake oil salesmen who have more interest in looking clean and super pretty, and in the products they are endorsing (for profit) and selling than what the job entails and giving either poor advise or advise no non professional could ever hope to duplicate which seems to permeate RUclips these days. This guy is the real deal
I've been delivering concrete here in Melbourne Australia for close to 11 years and I I've met a lot of concreters in my life. But watching you my friend you are all CLASS. The way you spoke to that driver with the wet load I take my hat off to you. Just wish we had more people like you in the industry. Keep up the great work. Top class 10 out 10
Absolutely stellar work. Some of the best concrete work iv'e ever seen. More contractors should have the attention to detail and high standards you do.
I did excavation for 3 years. We did a lot of grading and a lot of times we graded for the sidewalk guys. Brings back good memories. Keep the great work Ryan
Your videos are entertaining because they're informative and light hearted. I also love the interaction of your team. The thing I love the most about a large concrete job is the immediate upgrade in appearance of the property, which makes your own personal gratification of the finished product immediate also. Ya'll can stand back and say "Hell yeah that looks damn good!" EASY MONEY!! 🤣
I did a summer of flat work between my freshman and sophomore years of college...I'm not a professional (have been for nearly 20 years) and watching this video made me miss that real work done by blue-collar experts like you! Great video and now I've found my new time waster on youtube. Thanks for posting!
You definitely did the right thing by rejecting that load. It happens. Almost always driver error. I'm a retired mixer driver. I drove in Seattle for 25 years and have seen some pretty sketchy work, but you look like you do it right and take pride in your work. Great video.
I used to train mixer drivers at one point and first thing I taught was never trust the meter. Getting out of the truck and climbing up and looking never lies…with experience you can get a pretty close estimate of the slim just by watching it roll off the fins in the drum. You were SUPER respectful and nice about it👍 not many guys that finish Crete are like that in our area if any haha. Great work!
old man that taught me had a sayin............ Them masons, are the nicest guys in the world........ Till the "crete" shows up. man, was he right about that !! I poured everything from a 1" slump (state bridge job) to a 20" reverse slump........
Not even gonna lie, this is the first video of you guys that I've watched, and to be completely honest this is gotta be the best group of people I've ever seen do concrete, wish there were more boss's out there that love there job and there employees just the same, that's a business I'd be bagging to work for because I'd feel at home everyday going to work with you guys, honestly keep working hard and doing amazing work, I'll be watching
I watch this on my lunch so I can finally watch someone else work aside from myself😂. I love you channel. You guys all inspire me to keep on keeping on. Yall taught me to take pride in my work no matter what.
I do pour concrete for a living….. 27 th year. This man is good…. I’m very surprised, I’ve not seen masking or anyone pull wire. Ryan is extremely knowledgeable…. We do things a little different in Colorado. I would say this man’s work, is world class. I love his channel, and always good to see another man’s take and expertise
My man has been watching your station 24/7 after work. He is working concrete and getting tips from you and your company. Oh and Eric and Darryl Jr are funny and amazing!! All of your crew is hilarious!
Ryan is wicked calm. I've seen fist fights on jobsites over a lot less than a rejected load of concrete. In Construction, you got to have a super thick skin and be ready to dish it as well as take it. It really shows how great of a boss Ryan is with how calm he is with his crew and the different obstacles he faces on a daily basis. I've seen and heard of full blown fist fights on job sites.
Am I the only one who flipped through the video looking for the rejection part, then went back to the beginning, watched it through....having no use to learn to pour concrete immediately, never really looking up concrete or anything about it, but very happy to have found the video
Great video. Cleanest concrete placement I've ever seen with no mess whatsoever on the property. Good call on the wet load sent back since wet concrete creates a huge weakness. Excellent flat work and control joints due to a great crew, however, I too am not a fan of the wire mesh sitting and rusting on the subgrade over time. In TX construction, we use 4" plastic chairs with #4 bar reinforcing steel, concrete rated for 3000 lbs. and steel cannot be allowed to sit on the ground, preferrably to be suspended within the top 2" of the slab. If I needed a slab placed, I'd hire you to do it and I'm proud of your work ethic. Great job !
Every Midwestern construction workers morning starts off stopping at the good ol kwik trip. Some people wouldn't understand how good kwik trip is to us construction workers!
Had to comment. Great editing on the video. Very professional and experienced demeanour. Quickly becoming my favourite concrete channel for sure. You got laser skills with that pole. One has to appreciate the the meticulous attention to detail when finishing concrete and you and your team do just that. Thank you for taking the time to make content for us viewers. I do appreciate it! Easy money when you love what you do.
I’m only 23, been concreting since I was 16. When I learnt what the control joints were for, I couldn’t unsee them all looking at every bit of concrete I see. Love it
QC Manager for Redi Mix producer here. Your second load was absolutely too wet and you handled that perfectly and very politely. It may be useful to put yourself or one of your reliable crew members through the certification training process for slump and air testing. You may be able to protect yourself from issues like this if there is a dispute with the supplier by being able to perform these tests in the field. However, slump is a pretty obvious judgement call visually and you were able to make a good decision for your client. FYI a driver will base their estimation of slump on the resistance to the effort needed to mix/agitate in their drum. More force needed will equate to a stiffer mix. This driver likely mis-judged how much water she still had on from rinsing after the load before, and as a result, the batcher didn't withdraw enough water from the mix design to account. Sometimes they can identify this before it leaves the plant, and add extra material as a dry up.
What do you think of water reducer? Is it even allowed on commercial work? Mike Day pours 10+ slump and says it's perfectly fine. I'd be curious what a QC guy thinks
@@okgroomer1966 Water reducer is in every load down here in Florida, no matter the slump. We use high range water reducer when the slump hits about 7.5
Love watching someone who knows and cares what he is doing. Couple years ago I watched a "contractor" on RUclips passing on his amazing knowledge of concrete and advising viewers on all the things that are, "totally unnecessary, just a way to increase the charges", by not prepping the pad, not bracing his forms and, best of all, adding water to a load of ready-mixed concrete to make it easier to spread. I could almost see the professor in my concrete technology class (that's right; back when there was some respect for trades, colleges actually taught classes like construction practices and concrete technology) dropping his shoulders in shame. Totally enjoy watching these guys work.
It's funny cuz when I did concrete work we just eyeballed it, if it was too wet it would just take longer to dry, most the time we had go add water because it would be too dry by the time it got to the work site. Most the people doing this work in the states aren't professionally trained, unlike Europe and other countries who have training and certificates for these lines of work.
Colleges still teach these classes, people just can't pay tuition with a part time summer job like they could back then, so on-the-job training is the only option if their parents aren't millionaires, or if they don't take predatory loans that are mathematically impossible to pay back.. Quit complaining about things that you know nothing about. I wish we had it as easy as you did but your generation destroyed any chance of that with terrible policies. God it would be nice if the average annual salary today was enough to buy a house outright like you could back then.
I just found your channel off facebook. Oh Wow! Your content is amazing. Funny. Entertaining. Informative. Love your editing, very well done. Production quality is very high! Oh, you and you crew do great concrete work as well, lol! Now I have a lot of videos to watch, let the binging begin!
Your channel is strong because others want to work harder when you show you work hard! Mix that with good concrete content (no pun intended) and you have a great finished product
I usually watch Odell Concrete guys but I guess I'm going to have another favorite concrete guy now. Love watching on how you explained and keeping the communication with your workers. I watched the video from the beginning all the way to the end. It was entertaining to watch.
I used to work for an engineering company out of North Carolina and one of the things I did a lot was test concrete. The slump, get samples. And all that good stuff and it’s always been satisfying to watch concrete get smoothed out. It never gets old haha.

absolutely amazing work! you easily could have poured the bad load and said "its not my problem", but someone who really stands by their work seems to be few and far between these days! great job
he for sure could have but any business owner with half a brain would never do that. that would be just pure laziness and would make for twice the work or any given amount of future customers from being a scumbag a laying the crap mix. always faster and smarter to do it the right way once
I love how he has all the machinery to make work easier, no wheelbarrows to fetch concrete and the bobcat to break up and scoop the concrete. Which is why it's surprising that the trucks don't have ac LMAO
As a big guy who's done a LOT of wheelbarrow loads, I didn't need to know that there was a goddamn buggy that could have been doing my job for me... 😡😡😡😡 Oh well, not doing this kind of work anymore, I guess it doesn't matter.
From the little experience I had doing this type of work it can be hard or just time consuming depending on what you are doing. Since I dont have the patience I think the finishing is more difficult simply because it seems more artistic.
I did it for about a year it’s interesting but rough, sometimes you can’t get a truck close so you have to use wheelbarrows and that’s a killer. Sometimes you can load a skid steer bucket full but not always
This was 100% ASMR all the way through...If those finishings were done on some Cake baking show they would be worthy of Michilan Stars! The size and perfection of the grid lines, along with the smooth finish, makes it look Massive Kitchen tiles! Love it
What I was thinking , my last boss used to yelled at me in front of the clients for nothing , apparently it was my fault that he had to work because the idiot to save money only hired 2 finishers for a concrete the size like the one in the video
I done some groundwork’s when I was a teen and the dude took me on knowing I had the slightest experience in groundwork or civil engineering is what it’s also called but told me he would have me working close to him learning but all he done was sit in his digger all day or help his son while I swept the roads a 1000 times a day
@@lukeshaw3375 Sometimes people will take extra bodies because that's what they quoted for, they may not need extra bodies.....they may be charging say 200 per person, but only paying you 150......Even if they take you and you do nothing, they make themself 50......So you sweeping is still making them money and they still get the job done.

I dont own a home, or a driveway. Im an arborist and work in the woods. I dont know how or why this channel was recommended to me. But here I am 11am on Sunday and I just watched a full 41 minute video of this. Who knew I needed this.
You guys do such an amazing job, bugs al the whole crew is one of a kind . The way you guys interact with each other and customers on the job is their money’s worth alone let alone the way you guys lay down some concrete ! This channel deserves a million subscribers and one day you will get there. Keep up the hard work , these videos make my whole week 💪
Good morning brotha, I’m a plumber but absolutely love watching y’all’s concrete work, done right and you have a fun crew! Keep up the good work men!
Thank you very much.
Bet the client loves hearing the "EASY MONEY" chant out the window all day!
As a contractor I was thinking the same thing!! I get what he means, but to just hear it as a customer? I'd worry saying that!!
Hahahahahahahaha, it's sarcasm buddy. Clearly never poured. It's never easy.
@@benwright2705 I don't think they were saying that pouring is easy. It seems to me that is was more the point of view of a client hearing it and thinking they may be paying more than they need to.
I felt a bit weird with that too - that’s like going in the Walmart wanting some new GPU and stuff and the Tech guy just said that infront of you…
I kinda think it’s rude tbh

The way you spoke to that driver with the wet load I take my hat off to you.
Just wish we had more people like you in the industry.

Not if you put it on 1.75x speed.... which worked well for me.
This was great man. It's wonderful to see guys doing good work and working hard in construction and even some customer appreciation.
I love the joint explanation!
That’s serious experience.
This channel is gold!! I love how he belittles his employees and they take it with a good attitude. Great content!
You have a real positive attitude and crew. Absolutely love it.
I did a summer of flat work between my freshman and sophomore years of college...I'm not a professional (have been for nearly 20 years) and watching this video made me miss that real work done by blue-collar experts like you! Great video and now I've found my new time waster on youtube. Thanks for posting!
This 40 min video felt like 15 mins. Keep em coming Ryan 👍
You definitely did the right thing by rejecting that load. It happens. Almost always driver error. I'm a retired mixer driver. I drove in Seattle for 25 years and have seen some pretty sketchy work, but you look like you do it right and take pride in your work. Great video.
Been on concrete watch as a traffic controller I have to say watching concrete being poured and smoothed out is so satisfying never get tired of it
I used to train mixer drivers at one point and first thing I taught was never trust the meter. Getting out of the truck and climbing up and looking never lies…with experience you can get a pretty close estimate of the slim just by watching it roll off the fins in the drum. You were SUPER respectful and nice about it👍 not many guys that finish Crete are like that in our area if any haha. Great work!

I can't believe I just watched this whole video 😂. You can tell a lot of thought and pride went into this driveway, great job it looks awesome!
Happy to see Daryl again, his personality is great especially during pours 😂
My man has been watching your station 24/7 after work. He is working concrete and getting tips from you and your company. Oh and Eric and Darryl Jr are funny and amazing!! All of your crew is hilarious!
I think it is great you have your daughter learning the business from the ground up . . . literally
Great work!
I've seen and heard of full blown fist fights on job sites.
ur right, gotta have thick skin

Here in Texas I always stop at 7/11 there is literally one on every corner lmfao , I love them mornings stops before having to indulge in concrete

Had to comment. Great editing on the video. Very professional and experienced demeanour. Quickly becoming my favourite concrete channel for sure. You got laser skills with that pole. I never thought pouring concrete could be so mesmerizing but here I am. Love your channel!
I’m only 23, been concreting since I was 16. When I learnt what the control joints were for, I couldn’t unsee them all looking at every bit of concrete I see. Love it
Once again Ryan you really touched my heart when you gifted that customer those boots.. You really are a good man💕
QC Manager for Redi Mix producer here.
We use high range water reducer when the slump hits about 7.5
She might have had a pump clean into her truck the job before and forgot and went and got loaded.
@@okgroomer1966 Water reducer is a good product. You can make it slump wetter while maintain your cement water ratio of a dry slump
Stumbled across this gem of a channel around 3am haven’t stopped since
Love watching someone who knows and cares what he is doing.

“Yeah, especially when you start finishing and the music comes on, then you guys start going really fast” 😂 That was hilarious!
My big problem that prevents me from ever doing concrete is that I always finish way too early.
Your channel is strong because others want to work harder when you show you work hard! Mix that with good concrete content (no pun intended) and you have a great finished product

The fun part is finishing like smoothing it and stamping
