Conrail SD40-2 (ScaleTrains) Review

Today I review an EMD SD40-2 locomotive from the ScaleTrains "Rivet Counter" line. The locomotive is CR #6442 and is painted in the CR "Conrail Quality" paint scheme. Please keep in mind that I am not an expert in reviewing model trains and if I miss some features or seem that I am rushing through the review, I do apologize. Hi, great review on the SD40-2 by SXT Rivercounter. About the ditch lights, its a simple change of the AUX6 and AUX5 settings. ESU has the settings to set the ditch lights to flash when you sound the horn. B+ is way too generous of a grade especially for something that cost $300 and is missing obvious details and you even had to repair yourself. If I encountered that, plus the not programming correct ditchlights, gets a D. Way too generous of you to give a "Good" grade to an expensive model with so many defects.

ST knocked these out of the park. I have two NS units and love them. Fortunately I didn't have the same issues as you although I've had lots of QC issues overall with ST on other items.

Just a note, Conrail removed the inner sand lines by the fuel tank on most of their Sd40-2. The outer one should be on the model. I bought two and the ditch lights on both flash correct. Hope this helps
