  • Which is our pick for the best 2021 250cc motocross bike? It's Shootout time between the 2021 Honda CRF250R, Husqvarna FC 250, Kawasaki KX250, KTM 250 SX-F, and Yamaha YZ250F. Unfortunately, the Suzuki RM-Z250 was omitted because the unchanged 2021 model was not in the country at the moment. However, we still had a stacked field of bikes for our 2021 Vital MX 250 Shootout, so take a seat, click play, and enjoy.

      Besides the Honda, they're really hitting the physical limit of what a 250f can do on pump gas. Now it depends more on the tune and setup you want from the bike.
      I still think the Japanese edge out the Ktm group for reliability. I've found Honda and Yamaha to generally last if you want to go the distance with these machines.

    Now you hit a button on your cell phone and the bikes performs differently.......

    Great test as usual and nice that it is recognized that none of these bikes are going to hold a rider back. Amazing how good bikes are these days. As an old guy approaching 50 I can remember the days where there used to be bikes that genuinely stunk. Now pick your color and have fun. My KTM 150 is like a works bike compared to anything I was running back then and more fun to ride as well.

Other than creature comforts and brand loyalty, the bikes really don't perform much different if setup correctly at an amateur level. Ok. You guys need to focus on the younger riders. My son is almost 15 and will come off a 2020 kx100 and jump on a 250. Kids fast, but I want him on the most comfortable bike in the motor department. Feedback on your opinion will help me make my decision. I’m leaning towards the Honda. But not sure. What do you think?

  • @JohnHowerton137
    @JohnHowerton137 3 года назад +1

    Lap times would have been great. Plenty of people love Honda's or whatever... and then they post faster lap times on orange. Unless you're play riding or freeriding, feel is subjective. Lap times are objective. Short shifting a Yamaha a 50 times a lap is probably slower than overrevving a Husky. Not saying this is true, but we'll never know.

    So at the end, they said you pretty much can't go wrong and it just comes down to knowing what each bike excels at and then comparing that with your preference. Since the Suzuki isn't in the video, would I be wrong for buying one to save $500? Is it that much worse?
    Edit: I just read the description & see that it WOULD'VE been there if the 2021 model was available. *ALLEGEDLY!*
    So now I think for a casual trackday ride & hare scrambler who just wants a reliable bike, it could be worth $500 to just get the tried and true kickstart kooter. More research required.

    Do you know in all the years I have been aware of these shootouts it's never influenced what we have bought. Everyone we know agrees it's all about personal preferance the demeanor of the rider everyone throws aftermarket kit on them like pipes suspension bars etc and certainly here in my local race scene more and more people are buying older 2 strokes and totally rebuilding them and racing them. KTM probably out numbers ownership of those with new bikes by about ten to one. Just wish the industry was more open with the people who support it as well.

    We all know Suzuki comes in dead last every year, so I don’t blame the manufacturer for not sending a bike to the shoot out. Ive ridden most of the other models and they are all better than Suzuki. Yamaha and Honda have awesome machines. My Kawasaki was a lot fun too. But I’m back riding Suzuki. It’s a weekend warrior, fun dirt bike and alot cheaper than the rest. It doesn’t do anything great. Smooth power band, great handling and the bike always starts.
