    The most thorough review I have seen on this vehicle. You covered pretty much everything and let us experience it as well. Almost as good as a test drive for some points, better than a test drive for others. (Nissan wouldn't let me take it off road on a test.)

    That looks fun driving around the track. In the real world? A few weeks ago I watched with great amusement, a 2015 Navara trying to move out of a front garden! yes, someone's flat as a pancake grass covered front garden. The more the Navara tried to move out, the more bogged down it became from the previous night's rain.
    Eventually the driver gave up, came back later with buckets of sand, dug around the wheels, filled the holes with sand - the 4x4 still couldn't move. A few hours later his friend came along with a Land Rover and that pulled the Navara out without even slipping.
    I don't know what the difference is between a Navara 4x4 setup and the one on a Land Rover but after watching another of Thomas's great reviews, I would add the Nivara is great for going around tracks, steep inclines and going through pools of deep water, but absolutely rubbish on wet grass !

    I still bought the high end version of this truck even though it has 10hp less than the ranger. Why? because of the power-to-weight ratio. .The ranger may be the most powerful. but it is also the heaviest, with almost 300kg difference to that of the navara. Needles to say Its 20NM advantage is still not enough to compete the nissan in terms of extreme performance.

    Again, I just love your stance on leather seats. I so totally agree with you on this subject! Both me and my wife are also vegetarians since a few years back due to how animals are treated in the meat industry. Fake leather is also so advanced today that most people wont even notice the difference. Please folks - stay away from real animal skin! How obsurd isnt it when you think about it, another life has to be taken from this world simply so your butt can sit on its skin - because "luxury!"? Come on, wake up! Anyway, you got yourself a new sub! Keep it up!

    You made an error
    at 6:47 you said only front wheel drive with the less powerful engine option.
    This is not true as the vehicle is by default rwd

  • @DrTarentaal
    @DrTarentaal 5 лет назад

    Note it is not an All wheel drive vehicle. When selected, centre diff locks and it is in 4 wheel drive mode. There the 'strange' sounds you hear when testing the turning circle on sealed road.

  • @swdw973
    @swdw973 8 лет назад +1

    Thank you for the review. I have 2 points in your review that you didn't consider.
    1. The steering rotation. Although you don't like how much you have to turn the wheel. I consider it a benefit. When going off road In Colorado, USA, there are trails (they do not qualify as a road) where you want very precise steering. The less you have to turn the steering wheel to turn, the less precise your steering control becomes. So I'm glad the steering is set up as you described it.
    2. 2WD benefits. Although you may not increase fuel economy much by driving in 2WD in the city, you WILL drastically increase the life of your tires by using 2WD over 4WD on paved roads because it then allows the front tires to rotate at different speeds when turning. This means less wear on the front tires and fewer tire rotations due to uneven wear.

    They did away with the leafs springs, not the rigid axle. I believe the Navara has a rear multi-link coil suspension, but it's still using a rigid axle. I can't imagine a true truck not having one.

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  8 лет назад

      +emdec55 They did indeed replace it, I re-checked

    • @frederic423

      +Autogefühl No, that is definately a rigid rear axle. 6:06 and 39:38

      +Frédéric Check media.nissan.eu/content/dam/services/gb/brochure/Nissan_NP300_Navara.pdf
      Search for "multi-link"
      The Double Cab has no rigid leaf spring but "Multi-link with coil spring"

    • @frederic423
      @frederic423 8 лет назад +1

      +Autogefühl Yes, but you said axle. A vehicle can have multi-link with coil spring suspension and still have a rigid live axle at the same time. If it were without a solid axle, it would be independent suspension, but your video cleary shows a once piece axle .

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  8 лет назад

      +Frédéric Strange, so from what you read from the price list, you would agree that Multi-Link with coil spring is no rigid axle right? I just wonder if they changed axles for the offroad cars but that would be weird.

    Our N American market has yet to get the Navara, maybe 2019. As mentioned below, 190 hp is a tad weak, but the diesel option would be welcome at any HP rating. Leather seats bad, really. Ah the smell of fine European Plastic and the whir of a fine Hybrid. Good points on seating for those of us taller. I'm use to a small Tacoma size but your comments make me think I may also look at the larger trucks. Fuel consumption still an issue. I find in my wife's Mazda CX5, if I drop the sun visor down just a bit I hit my forehead on it leaning forward. I've heard others complain on the steering lock to lock. Like to see that be closer to 3 turns for US market. Doubt if that will happen. Would also like to see the steering wheel have a flat bottom. Good in depth review, one of the best I've watched.

    I would really love to see reviews of full size (american) pick-up trucks like the Ford F150, Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram, etc. There are also bigger japanese pick-ups like Toyota Tndra or since we are at the Nissan Chapter - The Nissan Titan. I will also enjoy this review.

  • @Phos9
    @Phos9 8 лет назад

    He calls it the frontier but here in the states we still have the previous generation "D40" Frontier, along with possibly apocryphal rumors that Nissan was trying to bring the old D22 platform up to current standards and use that for the new one in the states. Now there are finally rumblings of this new one coming out well after the mid size GM twins and with Colorado ZR2's being spied on the road, so Nissan can strike while the iron is lukewarm. Somehow, this hasn't stopped the current truck from being a hot seller.

    Kann es sein, dass auf der Straße in 4H gefahren wurde?
    Das würde das knacken und vibrieren beim Testen Wendekreises und die Behäbigkeit in den Kurven erklären.
    Der Navara NP300 D23 verfügt über kein Mitteldifferential. Im 4H/4L Modus sind die Achsen stet verbunden. Das fahren auf festem und trockenem Untergrund kann den Antriebsstrang nachhaltig schädigen.

    Instead of saying "hatch" to describe the hinged barrier at the end of a truck, you might like the word "tailgate". It is nicely descriptive term (used in the States and elsewhere); it also has more of a compound noun form that one might associate with German words.

      The mark in North America is 300 hp and 281 Tq for small trucks like this those little sewing machine engines won't sell here. and they certainly won;t keep up with a refined smooth running v6 gas engine ,also those tires won't cut it here Either, it will need 18 inch 60 series tires minimum . As well it needs a long bed version for the crew cab, far from smart if they bring that shit here
