My motor was the m20 bored out with forged internals, arp hardware, 10.1-1 compression ratio. Same gearing. I custom made my short shifter. Also the displacement was 2.8l. Made 242 at the wheels. I was lucky enough to get a set of itb for the car. Also I used the fuel injection from a m50 without vanos. The first m50s. With that I had custom programmable dme, knock sensors, individual coils and I used a miller war chip to tune it. The redline was set to 7800 rpm. It was a sweet sounding car. Haven’t heard anything like it until I got my 04 M3. And The wheels were TSW evo -r they look a lot different and better than the standard evo. They are nla like most e30 stuff. A nice M20 on full song is properly nice! I had a 1981 323i E21 with some kind of aftermarket exhaust and that M20 rasp when the cam comes on song is just pure straight-six bliss!
We have had 2 fantastic home grown E30 3 series BMW's here in South Africa. The 325is had a 2.7 litre motor like this and a 333i that had an M30 motor. The M20 and M30 are the best sounding BMW I6 engines in my opinion.
Excellent built man! I've learned to drive on a 1986 318 E30 and I would love to get another one some day but good examples are bloody expensive nowadays.
The E30 was a fabulous car. We had an '87 325i, stock except for a stainless exhaust. The small-6 BMW engine is a pearler, lovely noise, and just pulls and pulls up to the red line. Wife used to burn off boys in their 205's at the lights. Sadly we had to lose it when the body started disappearing round the rear subrame. Subsequent 3-series, with their crappy electric power steering and lousy reliability just make you sad once you have experienced the last "real" BMW.
Reminds me of the 2.7 l Eta block M20 engined E30 that my boss drove when he was racing back in the 80's in Thailand. That car was equipped with BMW Motorsport's 5 speed close ratio gearbox with dogleg 1st gear. However the 4A1 Solex carburetter was used on that car. The car was fun to drive especially with that Getrag gearbox.
Well built dude ! Interior is amazing. In aus the e30's are in high demand and everyone is giving them love. Atm I'm building/restoring and e28 but once it's done e30 is my dream build.
I love it, sounds insanely loud in the outside shots going on how it echoes off everything, but those wheels are awful, even with whatever rarity scene points they’ve got going on. Edit: just seen that they’re covers, the wheels themselves aren’t bad... he should probably start putting them covers in the boot when he parks up now that he’s admitted they just pop off on camera.
Naturally aspirated engines sound amazing and that car is a stunner

@@connoisseuroftigolbitts It's not. It's a M20B25 with an Alpina head. Alpina only ever done a 2.7l in the C1 E30. You can tell it's an M20 from the metal valve cover, the SOHC and the lack of a VANOS solenoid. The M52 Alpina used was bored out to 2.8 in the B6 E36, the B3 E36 was 3.0l , and the B3 E36 3.2 was bored out to 3.2l. :)
But the obviously if you had listened to the video, you would have heard him say it's a M20 at 2:45 🤷
All that work and he keep it so small. Should of gone s50 or s52 crank.
Awesome build. That exhaust sound is crazy !!
Just found your channel. I'd love to hear you rev match and downshift more. It's one of the best engine noises possible.
Nice one indeed, Jack! I did similar things in my days, drove the E30 for 16 years, sold Europe a thousand E30 cruise controls to enthusiasts like us and miss the little BMW a lot esp. when I see yours! Congrats! :)
the best sounding e30 wow !!
This is my favourite car out of everything you've featured😭😍that sound!
This is naughty!!! Much Nom Nom, loving these vids dude keep em coming!
One and only thing i would change is those stupid wing mirror's put it back to stock as the stock ones suit the car so much better, awesome ride dude.
Amazing, best I’ve seen !!!
That induction sound and "bang bang mode". This is a treat to hear.
nom nom nom nom nom
WOW that sound!
How long does your engine last without air filter? #nofilter Is Just an Instagram thing man hahah
You'd be surprised how little it affects the engine.
@@imnota not if you drive on normal roads, Imagine all the dirt and dust, sand ecc i would save such a good engine with a good filter. I Indeed Hope the owner usually drive with filter
@@tommasofossati5123 I'm sure you would be surprised. That's all I have to say, I'm not trying to argue, but you would be surprised by how many people never had problems.
Sick review, sick car. I hope this gets some well deserved views for people to see
Sick !
I soooo wish I still had my E30's 😭😭😭
Same here had 2 1991 318i 2 318ic. Edit:oh and had a 1990 325ic also ..depressing I know
Dream car. Clean, original look, attention to small details, just a good driver. Thats perfect.
E30 things, well you have attention.
Absolute bonkers! Your vid aswell as Jack for his fabulous bimmer deserve thumbs up and many, many credits for such a great work! Just love it!
Keeping busy 🐒, nice! Fancy reviewing my Garage Mak S15😎
Yes I do bud, wondered who bought that nice. Can you message me on Facebook page bro? facebook.com/MONKYLONDON
MONKY LONDON 😎
Kreation PAYD Gotta wait for the sunstrip to be fitted first 😂😂 (Nathan @ SaitoWorks)
shame that the mic is distorting. sick sound THX
Only thing wrong with it is the steering wheel is on the wrong side
A nice M20 on full song is properly nice! I had a 1981 323i E21 with some kind of aftermarket exhaust and that M20 rasp when the cam comes on song is just pure straight-six bliss!
10:55 that's pretty similar to the raspiness from the M20B23 in the E21 323i!
SEXUAL...
Smashing out quality content so far this year, love it.
Gay music
He can be really proud about this build, great color and well balanced.
Cool but too loud for my taste
Stunner. I’m working on making a 327, and this almost makes me want to lose the turbo.
"OMG, this car is awesome"
*sees the steering wheel on the right side*
"Oh, no, it's retarded"
That rev matching at 4:15 was absolutely beautiful
Great build, but why no engine air filter? The first sand storm will blow the engine.
We have had 2 fantastic home grown E30 3 series BMW's here in South Africa. The 325is had a 2.7 litre motor like this and a 333i that had an M30 motor. The M20 and M30 are the best sounding BMW I6 engines in my opinion.
This video made me so happy! Such quality and awesomeness ✌🏻🚙💨
Excellent built man! I've learned to drive on a 1986 318 E30 and I would love to get another one some day but good examples are bloody expensive nowadays.
"open her up a little bit" *cut to clip kicking fuck out it* haha love it!
Looks like a nice build! A shame about the right hand side door trim not lining up with the fenders! Please fix =D
That's how you do an E30. The Turbofans are the icing on the cake. Beautiful
Awesome vid and awesome car, dude put a lot of time and effort into that car. The smiles that come with the sound of ITB's Is incredible !
Love it, absolutely love it! But buddy, get some filters on those ITB's before they pickup something you'll wish they hadn't!
Well built dude ! Interior is amazing.
In aus the e30's are in high demand and everyone is giving them love. Atm I'm building/restoring and e28 but once it's done e30 is my dream build.
Lovely car mate. A true passion wagon. Well done Jack and John 👍🏻
