🐒 THIS DEATH TRAP 520HP 750KG K20 TURBO SWAPPED METRO IS INSANE!
Rover Metro Info:
The Metro is a supermini car, later a city car that was produced by British Leyland (BL) and, later, the Rover Group from 1980 to 1998. It was launched in 1980 as the Austin Mini Metro. It was intended to complement and eventually replace the Mini, and was developed under the codename LC8. The Metro was named by What Car? as Car of The Year in 1983 as an MG, and again as a Rover in 1991.
During its 18-year lifespan, the Metro wore many names: Austin Metro, MG Metro and Rover Metro. It was rebadged as the Rover 100 series in December 1994.[2] There were also van versions known as the Morris Metro and later, Metrovan.[3]
At the time of its launch, the Metro was sold under the Austin brand. From 1982, MG versions became available. During 1987, the car lost the Austin name, and was sold simply as the Metro. From 1990 until its withdrawal in 1998, the Metro was sold only as a Rover.
Although the R3 generation Rover 200 (introduced in 1995 and smaller than previous 200 models) had originally been designed as a replacement for the Metro, it was not marketed as such after its launch.[4] The Rover 100 finally ceased production in 1998, being outlived (by three years) by the original Mini that it was meant to replace. 2,078,218 Metros of all types were built.[5]
Rover Metro GS Mk2
Plans for a replacement for the Mini had been afoot within BL since the early 1970s, but none of the concepts conceived got beyond the initial design stages, largely due to a shortage of funds at British Leyland, and its eventual bankruptcy and government bail-out in 1975. The modern supermini market had evolved during the 1970s, with earlier mini-cars like the Mini and Hillman Imp being followed by mostly larger cars with the "hatchback" bodystyle - beginning with the Fiat 127 in 1971 and Renault 5 in 1972, with the next five years seeing the arrival of similar cars including the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Polo, as well as the Vauxhall Chevette from General Motors (also built in West Germany as the Opel Kadett) which was also available as a saloon and estate as well as a hatchback. These cars gained a decent sized market share in Britain and most other European markets.
Group B info:
Group B was introduced by the FIA in 1982 as a replacement for both Group 4 (modified grand touring) and Group 5 (touring prototypes) cars.
Group A referred to production-derived vehicles limited in terms of power, weight, allowed technology and overall cost. The base model had to be mass-produced (5000 units/year) and had to have
By contrast, Group B had a few restrictions on technology, design and the number of cars required for homologation to compete-200, less than other series. Weight was kept as low as possible, high-tech materials were permitted, and there were no restrictions on boost, resulting in the power output of the winning cars increasing from 250 hp in 1981,[2] the year before Group B rules were introduced, to there being at least two cars producing in excess of 500 by 1986, the final year of Group B.[3] In just five years, the power output of rally cars had more than doubled.
The category was aimed at car manufacturers by promising outright competition victories and the subsequent publicity opportunities without the need for an existing production model. There was also a Group C, which had a similarly lax approach to chassis and engine development, but with strict rules on overall weight and maximum fuel load. Авто/Мото
Love a good sleeper build, on boost your face says it all 😂👊🏼
Bonkers!
Niceee
Gotta agree I love the sleeper look, I have a 1000+hp 3.2 A3 and it’s stock on the outside, no skirts, no kit nothing.
@@Mr_OoOsH Let's do a review yo!
@@monkylondon it will be out and about in due time!
was at college with a guy with a mg metro turbo, that scared me in 1991, this on the other hand is just bat shit crazy, would be wanting a full roll cage and a racing harness just to visit the shops for milk.
he need some milk
I'm 50+, found this while looking at old classics like the Metro. I've never come across such a loud, disrespectful, road madness, bonkers modified cars channel ever. What can I say.....
Absolutely awesome :D I've subscribed and watched half the videos today.
Keep up with the mixing, modding and engineering, respect to all.
This metro is an absolute weapon! Props to the owner for building such a machine! Amazing work on the production as always Monky 😎👊
Really appreciate it, big up Jake!
Couldn't say better myself! Massive respect!
What Props did the owner use do you think !!!! im sure he had some tools rather than make do with props !!!!! working on a requires tools

@@Mikey-gl1je much love Mikey means the world bro!
You keep doing you and we'll keep watching, I'm excited for drift season with all the crazy sleds you have tucked away
That has to be in my top 10 sleepers of all time, incredible build. Credit to the owner.
I'd tend to agree, but these days the Rover Metro or 100 is a rare sight and when you do see one, more often than not it has at least a Rover K 1.8 VVC stuck in it. Even with just 160hp these cars are effective. I think 300hp would be the sweet spot between effective and mental (like this car).
But yeah, only people into modifying cars will think like the above... everyone else will just see a Metro or for younger folk they might just see a tiny old car.
It's fantastic. If it was mine, I'd replace that Type R badge with a 1.1S badge. But otherwise, it's perfect.
Top 5 .
Luckily I'm still here typing this comment to you! Grab a brew and watch the craziest Metro we have ever come across! Absolutely mental, John was lost for words! Big up Jake we really hope you enjoy this latest ML review! Make sure you are subscribed, like the video and comment below to keep the madness coming! Much love, ML
Your smile did have a hint of “I’m terrified “ 👏🏻👏🏻🤣
Let’s get that race on bruvva, my doe is on the metro just off the top of my head 😂👌🏻 smashed this vid and worth the wait 😎🇲🇽🙌
Great video but your man should of let you have a steer!!
@@evorobin I buggered my clutch foot and wanted to save it for my drift day lol he really wanted me to drive 🙏
@@Manlikewezzo yeah that will be an epic video, we'll get it sorted 👊
That seems too drive in a very straight line considering the power. Impressed! 🤘🏼
It's FWD, no?
LSD makes the difference (well not technically a LSD, an ATB)
Rover would still be in business today if they offered a factory 500BHP Metro 🤣
Years ago I had a 114 GTi (the name the car was distributed in Italy during '90s) and with its 103 HP was simply undriveable. I liked it, it was very funny, but deathly. Pratically no traction, you could experience wheelspin in 3rd speed. Brakes were a joke, the autoventilated discs in the front coupled with the small drums in the rear produced a very unbalanced braking. Coped with the satanic hydragas, there were no hope to brake straight, expecially on irregular surface. When dry, you felt to drive like on the wet. On the wet, you felt on soap, or worst. No traction, no braking, no grip at all. Now you have fitted such monster with 500 (five hundreds?!) HP?!?! I think it's less dangerous a Jigsaw Killer's trap!
My Mum had one of those, the GTa version with about 90 hp? Hilarious car. Horrendous understeer on power, snap oversteer if you backed off, you had to commit to a corner and hold your nerve. She got rid of it when the crash test results came out.
Never as bad as the mini de tomaso that I had when I lived there
Scariest car I've ever been in was an old Escort with a Cosworth V8 swap and RWD conversion. Thought I was going to die. He must have used solid engine mounts too because the whole thing vibrated with the revs.
Lol wtf are you on about? I own a metro and its brilliant in every way
Some of the 1.4 MPi's were ridiculously quick for some reason. I've owned 4 and 2 of them were noticably faster than the other 2. I always wondered was there a difference in cams or ECU's or something. But yeah for a standard 1.4 they went like shit off a shovel
Love the way you edit these videos, exactly how i'd do it, brings back the Early Naughties racing games and street hype!
These things were absolute death traps from stock, they got a 1 start rating in the Euro NCAP safety test in 1997 - puuuuuure death trap but so sick
No worse than being on a motorcycle right. Like anyone cared about ncap ratings back then.
Even worse when the metal maggots have got their teeth in. Rot box!
ah but this metro has a roll cage so 2 stars
500+ BHP in a Metro is absolutely terrifying 😮
Ive driven one with 1.8 VVC swap at around 160hp, LSD and short ratio box, that thing was seriously rapid, cant even imagine what 300 would be like, let alone 500!????
@@adamtooms8977 wheelspin in 5th lol.
@@Brabant076 unreal! Respect
It doesn’t have 500bhp though? That’s per tonne, the car is 750kg so it has 390bhp I think? Still mental
You get used to it, and you should become aware of what else needs to be done to keep it safe and predictable.
Oooo Lord i've been waiting for this one.. that driveby shot in the preview left me feeling all fuzzy.
Proper mental!
These things were death traps with a 1.1 in them - the introduction of compulsory EuroNCAP tests killed them overnight when it got 1 star. Ironically, at that time Rover were also making the 75, which was almost the first 5-star NCAP car, but BMW bean counters forced Rover to make the curtain airbags optional extras.
Stop beating around the bush and give honda their props.
@@kaycertified for what? Honda had nothing to do with either the Metro or the 75. Unless you're just referring to the engine in this? Trust me, this thing didn't need the engine to be a death trap.
how can you insure this thing?
@@richardharrold9736 the biggest point of this video is that it has a stock 2.0L Honda engine making 520hp. Say the 1.1L stock engine had a nice turbo on it.. it wouldn’t last which then would make the video pointless
@@kaycertified you've completely missed my point. You could turn it into a pedal car doing 0-30mph in ten minutes and it will still be lethal. They were desperately unsafe cars. The performance is completely irrelevant to its dangerousness. The 1.1 Metro engine ended up growing to a 1.8 in the Lotus Elise and a 1.8 turbo in the Rover 75, so you could do a 1.8 swapped Metro, but I would never want to do anything more than 20mph in one.
You just wouldn’t get bored of the sounds this little beaut produces. What a weapon!
Absolutely love builds like these metros being a car I've love growing up gti's mpi 16v but it all started with the MG'S but yes please the battle with 205 and the mette.great video as per 👍
Big love Jason we'll get it sorted!
I had a Metro GTi many moons ago… it had a Sub in the boot and somehow, the way it was wired in… the transmission used to whine through the speaker and when you changed gear there was a punch of bass! I honestly don’t know how it did it but it was absolutely quality! 😃
4:12, when the boost comes to say helllooooo! That joy joy feeling you get!
Top notch guys, that was proper brilliant!
It's been a while since I laughed at a car video and that had me in stitches! The best noises and reactions. Hilarious.

My mum had a d reg white MG turbo. Loved that thing. We watched it getting stolen in front of our council house at 10.45pm and were on the phone to the police as they drove it off. 6.40 am the next day they turned up🤔....... 8.45am they found it 1.5 miles away completely burnt out. Even then (94) I knew it was a rare and special motor.

He better have taken you for a blast up the Hagley Mile in it, seeing as you were close 👌🏻🤣
I would just simply LOVE to see the look on some drivers faces of more expensive cars like Audi's, Merc's or Beemers as they are left for dead at the lights in nothing but a cloud of dust and set of tail lights in the form of..... big up yourself for repping the drum and bass in loads of your vids love and vibes from southampton 😎
I didn't know i wanted a k20 turbo metro until now
6:06 of course it doesn't twist the chassis - the crank rotation is 90 degrees to the centre line of the body.... that'd only happen in an inline layout. Sure is more mental that my Octavia estate sleeper though!
What about bending it in half I'll rephrase next time 😂❤️ Much love man thanks for watching
Couldn't help but just giggle like a kid through that whole thing, that MG is nuts lol.

My uncle had a purple metro when I was a toddler, then he had an ep3 when I was a young kid, this video reminded me of him instantly blend of the two with a crazy power engine, I honestly think the car would be more fun with a supercharger and really big breaks then you can blast it on b roads with a linear power curve so you aren't as likely to get thrown into a ditch on boost haha
Proper builds on this channel 🤜
