All the people complaining about what he should have done...do it yourselves then. It's his pride and joy and he did what he wanted, don't put him down for that. An absolutely breathtaking car. Would love to one day build a S38 turboed E30
Good reply. I hate the whole JDM vs Euro Car vs Muscle thing. We are all car guys with different tastes. Just realize we all have a passion for cars, can't we bond over it. The simple Muscle vs tuner drag race friendly competitions are nice, but all the hate and rudeness I don't get

precisely why he went with a TT LS...........idiots dont know how much blowing an engine can cost or a diff....this guy has obviously been around the block enough to know LS setup build around it lmao. S38 is a bit high comp to be pushing large boost. Its a fine engine as is Id much rather have a well built/tuned like a glove NA stroker vs a car with big boost you can only use it on the straights anyways....as a driver you wouldnt learn much about driving fast with a car like that if you were an amateur.....hes also building it as a drag car. Nice thing is that with tunes to gear and boost delivery he can use it at a strip or a track.
"you make it fit" that's the proper attitude of a real mechanic. many shops don't have mechanics today, they have "technicians" instead, who only know how to use a computer and change one part into another just like it.
Of all the LS swaps people do, this man put so much blood, sweat, tears, and money into this that I have to love it. He MADE IT HIMSELF! This wasn't a, off-the-shelf kit for an S-chassis; it was hand made by this man. You cannot hate this if you're a real car guy.
+ByVillex he can visit me in Germany anytime. I'll show him a few roads^^. But he should look into his mirror we have a few crazy BMWs, VWs and GTRs who will eat him.
+raivons now lets not get ridiculous. I like these guys plenty- but how can they really compete with the millions of dollars the top gear trio has to work with.
+rasvial Exactly the way alex, and all carthottle team is doing it, with carguy passion, lots of carguy humor, a bit of sarcasm here and there, and just being honest about the cars, like a normal person would do.
Ye, but those shouldn't dislike videos just because the car doesn't fit their taste or something! Its much work to buid a car like this...either you give a like or shut the f*** up and better watch other videos! :D
I love Car Throttle but the comments always make me sad... This guy spent 10 years building what he wanted and he did it! Like it or not but don't hate and complain!
Can't believe the haters on his car, I've seen it twice this year, this thing is top notch fair play Ross, I saw her a players and low collective, and I can't wait till next year to see the beast again, if you've never had a e30 you'll never understand 😀
This is still beautiful, every time I see the video, I'm reminded that anything is possible if you just dont give up on it and i love that. I love the heart and soul in this build and so many others as well. That's what I like about building things people say you shouldnt or cant.
50/50 weight distribution when it was stock, now it has a big V8 with lots of turbo plumbing in the front means there's probably not a lot of weight over the back wheels, add no electronic aids at all and a fairly aggressive clutch and it's probably not very easy to launch fast at all. This isn't a drag car built to launch as fast as possible but useless around a corner.
So many people bitching in the comments saying "oh he ruined an E30", "oh he should've used a BMW V8". If you don't like his build its one thing, but if you can't respect the hard work, effort and labor he's put into it then piss off.
my daily drive for nearly 10 years, and with lots of fiddling, from a M42, it's just grown ups to the mighty M30 3.5. E30s have endless possibilities and truly an enthusiast machine..!! long live E30 and excellent presentation, Alex.
The most beautiful model BMW ever produced !!!! Since i was a teenager every time i saw this baby rolling down the road i followed it till it disappeared ... Just to own this car means you are 100% male , a masculine car that never gets old !!!! I am not a horsepower guy , so even if it was completely stock i would fine with it but this sounds like a monster !!!! absolutely awesome video all the way through !!!!
I think these types of videos have to be some of my favorites. Just about a guy and his passion for the car and the build and the sweet product that becomes of it.
Love e30s best car I've ever seen in my life iam so jealous you need a medal my man super job never seen a e30 this powerful this car deserves the power
Imagine if you bought this car off him and anything goes wrong . You'd be so fucked. parts from about 60 different cars in. 4 different cars just for brakes
800 reliable horsepower, that's great. He still has a lot of room to turn up the wicked on this engine. American tuners are making over double this power with this motor. That kind of power would make it undrivable in that chassis and those roads. Really nice build.
+TheAussieStig30 Why would you want that in your civic? Mines 1600Brake horsepower.. Who defuq wants that lol.. I got like 7.6seconds on the 1/4 mile..

+Matthias Schmitt Too expensive & tricky I guess - it'd cost a fortune to get 800bhp out of a BMW V8 plus compared to an American pushrod V8, they take up a lot more room, so would be much harder to fit in and you'd have bugger all room left over for the turbos etc.

I to drive AV8 twin Turbo That I pretty much uses a daily when it's not on the race track. Although the wife hates it and it's taken about everything I own it's everything I've always wanted and unfortunately I didn't build it by hand the way you did however I love it none the less and you have exquisite taste. I respect this nerd, he is a God given tool, he would have just easily put a V8 in there but no he built ground up and mated it well to this body, WOW, RESPECT my man, greetings from Eswatini.
There is a reason, why BMW engines won a lot of the "Engine of the year" awards. They are well engineered and designed for usage on daily basis. Now, to everyone yelling, that BMW's suck etc., first off - You can never rate a car, if you are not the one getting it in showroom. You can never determine how it has been used and abused, and abviously, driven crap is driven crap. Almost all German engines are very complicated, and the younger the cars get, the more complicated they become. Tri-Turbo Inline 6. Trying to DIY yourself? What I wanted to say with this, about no BMW V8 in the car, yes, Murrican engines are the best bang for buck. You can go OEM road, but it requires a lot deeper pockets than taking something commonly and widely avaivable with such an aftermarket support. For example - Dinan, a company that tunes BMW's. Their services are expensive, like, really expensive, cause they took the time to study the engineering of the cars and engines, and they can use this for their own good - there's little to none companies that provide such an extensive modifications list. There's Alpina and G-Power, but they have a little different background with BMW themselves.
+Ralfs Zemzars There is a reason Chevrolet won engine of the year awards too... They all do. Big deal. So does the F20C from the S2K, won wards 4x in a row but that doesn't stop them being less than reliable when beaten on hard, bores go out of round etc
i get it that the Chevy V8 is more affordable but i think he should have gone with a BMW V8. i like to keep engine swaps and cars getting the swap in the same family. for example a Nissan powertrain in a Infiniti or a Renault or any of the 3 is fine by me. and sometimes i can see exceptions il admit. i have a project that my ultimate goal goes against that completely only that the engine layout is the same across both brands. anyways as long as he enjoys it thats all that really matters
Not everyone is made of money and if you want high hp BMW is not the way to go unless you got deep pockets! If you wanna build a car then build it don't hate on him for building his car his way
Great car, legendary car among certain circles, and all home built with an awesome build thread to back it up. This car is badass, looks the part and backs it up. OK the styling is not to everyone's taste but, as always, the owner built it for himself and I think he did a pretty good job...
TheCarista. Idiotic comment of the century you fuckin moron. Take a ride in any car with coilovers. Bet you haven't. And I can guarantee you it has better traction than you can fathom.
Why is 70% of everyone hating on it It’s fucking awesome and someone like him actually keeps the real definition of a build car not like many others who put new oil in and other rims and say they have modded the car
Really inspired me. Such an amazing car and rightly say an amazing builder! Been working on my 98 M3 which I've owned for 15 years for roughly a year. Yes only a year. I'm sure you spent years. Thank you .
its normal to anyone with the means and feasible capability to create a LS swap should and would its a matter of practicality and logic....cheap low maintenance and light weight.....though Iron block is strongly recommended for application of forced induction.....you cant out value what a LS setup brings let alone LS+boost...as the world stands its the go-to.....look at auto cross or any amateur racing its the king lol it makes the driver....look at the nitto challenge lmao some random LS drifter wins drag speed, and track speed at some amateur event where they give a year supply of tires lmao....and hes in you guessed it a NA LS 240sx lmao...only fitting a drifter wins a year supply of tires.
The build is ruined by the heavy chevy v8. Should have used a BMW engine - an M60 or M62B44 would have kept it a BMW - right now it's a chevy in E30 clothes. Do not like. Seriously - I've had a M60B44 in my e30 - it's not that hard to do - and I'm willing to bet a BMW V8 is somewhat cheaper in europe / GB than a chevy engine. The BMW engine is also lighter and has a better HP/liter ratio in N/A form witch would have translated in it's boosted form. Oh and it gets better mileage.
thats your choice of what you would have put in it , not mine! i dont care about keeping it bmw my car ill do what i like with it , as for it being heavy yeah might be but it is actually more balanced now than it was as the engine if further back , i never built it for other people to like it i buit it how i wanted it but thanks for the input
It is a nice car tough. Great looking too. Still, why did you go for the chevy engine? Those things are expensive. For that kind of scratch I can get an S85B50 M5 V10 + 6 speed manual (where I live).
+kaneCVR well were I live you can't get one for less than 6k , I built this engine for about 3k , Chevys are a lot cheaper than you think I mean the set of Pistons in this are 4" 8 off and cost me 220 , the whole forged bottom end including a bare block cost me less than 1k, I've been bought up with big v8s and hot rods so I've always liked them plus every one put the bmw v8 in them , why be like everyone else I like doing my own thing 👍🏼
whoa, that's a lot of $$$. I'm from Romania and here a chevy small block will set you back at least 5000 euro, while an early BMW v8 like the M60 or M62 is about 500 euro. As a matter of fact, I'm staring at a local ad witch parts out a totaled E60 M5, and the seller is asking 9000 lei for the engine and gearbox - that's roughly 2000 euro for an S85B50 V10 (cheap for even these parts). Thinking of swapping it into my e30 - the only issue would be bypassing the EWS or somehow incorporating it into my car. Meh - if he the engine turns over and is not physically damaged, I'm getting it :P
To me, as a BMW purist, this is simply disgusting. E30's are becoming rarer, what's left should be preserved. This isn't even a BMW, it's a disgusting bastard build which is utterly tasteless. These cars aren't about HP, its about handling. On the other hand, kudos to putting effort into the car.
He is a mad man with a scientist brain and creates beautiful cars and gives people like me joy and keeps us on track for what we want to do and fell in love with I wish to meet people as creative as this
Damn. I absolutely respect and appreciate what this man has done to make this beauty come alive.. the car is just stunning and although I personally do not care for the wheels and suspension set up, it's what makes it his and that to me is just inspirational. Nicely done.

Only a hand full of people will fully understand the magnitude of this build. Well done Ross.
"calculations based on gear ratio and diff ratio" my arse, he knows exactly how fast that thing can go.
Tell me where he would be able to hit such a speed in England? He'd probably have to test it at the old Le Mans circuit to hit it.

Ikr. Someone on YT has an early 70's Nova with a rotary... Yeah it's weird, cool, and fast... But it still bothers me...
Still an E30 setup gocart feel with some more understeer and pull. Running a 1000hp M3 turbo or an LS N/A with 800hp, both E30s are insane to drive.
Idk BMW body and badges make it simple enough to call it a bmw instead of rattling off every car part he has on it. So who cares... it’s a bmw.
What a limiting perspective to have. Sounds just like a normal bmw fan boy.

The only problem is tires looks disgusting.
Is that all you can pick at is the tyres???

+Ertan Can Atik sorry but how can a tyre be disgusting ??
Tyres looks much wide because of that it looks disgusting. If tyres gonna be wide so car needs wide body. I think that's the point.

lol epic fail, it doesn't have a bmw engine in it, it's a v8 cratemotor hahaha
Martijn Knol Dude, read my comment again. I never stated, that there's a BMW engine there.
+Ralfs Zemzars There is a reason Chevrolet won engine of the year awards too...
They all do. Big deal. So does the F20C from the S2K, won wards 4x in a row but that doesn't stop them being less than reliable when beaten on hard, bores go out of round etc
Saw this at the BMW Car Club meet a few months ago. In the flesh it is just mind blowing.
"Oh nice BM... Nope camber. Damnit so close"
cheapo911 cambers are used to get maximum grip on the road.....
It may come because of the weight but idk
Love the exhaust sound! Is like music to my ear! It looks perfect!
He needs to engineer a better suspension system. That thing looks like a spine crusher. Rest of build is awesome.
Buddy Craig not to mention an exhaust that doesn’t sound like complete ass. How does a twin turbo v8 sound like a geo metro. I don’t understand.
Know this car and ross personally, and had the insane pleasure of being in it, video didn't pick up sound anywhere near what its like.
im not bmw fan, but respect dude !
Uroš Petrović That’s ok it’s not a bmw e30 any more.
35 liters
~2 miles "not to hard"
6 liters
WTF?!! that means about 1450 liliters / 100 miles / 160 km.
That can't be correct!
***** ops, my bad
seriously guys, ure already doing this in such a professional way, you should contact the television so u get your own show!
Man this car is awesome, but u have steering wheel on wrong side:D
wrong engine as well
he's it britain, they drive on the left so the side closest to the road centre is the right
Wrong Engine, steering on the right side.He loves it,we can atleast respect that.
That by far is the most beautiful thing on wheels I've ever seen period!
i get it that the Chevy V8 is more affordable but i think he should have gone with a BMW V8. i like to keep engine swaps and cars getting the swap in the same family. for example a Nissan powertrain in a Infiniti or a Renault or any of the 3 is fine by me. and sometimes i can see exceptions il admit. i have a project that my ultimate goal goes against that completely only that the engine layout is the same across both brands. anyways as long as he enjoys it thats all that really matters
i saw once a E30 with the V12 5.0 liters from the E28 750i.... never forget this monster....
Gollatas ´ for a second i was like "that's not possible, il look it up" and surely enough the V12 fits in there. Only just but that's pretty awesome.
Not everyone is made of money and if you want high hp BMW is not the way to go unless you got deep pockets! If you wanna build a car then build it don't hate on him for building his car his way
Chuck Dennis can you not read the very last line of my comment? I guess you just like bitching dont you
Patrick Pelletier yeah, stroke me like a lightning too. But he opened up the Engine room and there was he.
love these videos brings car people closer together
where is my 250bhp switch i need one ;)
Great car, legendary car among certain circles, and all home built with an awesome build thread to back it up. This car is badass, looks the part and backs it up. OK the styling is not to everyone's taste but, as always, the owner built it for himself and I think he did a pretty good job...
Suspension seems to be set up horribly
Car manufacturers should hire you, they'd save millions in R&D if you can tell how a cars suspension feels just from a video. Moron.
When a car is hopping like that, it loses traction, which of course is NOT what you want. On track however, it may be a good setup.
TheCarista. Idiotic comment of the century you fuckin moron. Take a ride in any car with coilovers. Bet you haven't. And I can guarantee you it has better traction than you can fathom.
Damn they on yo head 😂😂😂
I love this car, very inspiring indeed. I truly appreciate the workmanship that went into creating this beast!!!
Should never have sold my E30 -_-
R154 transmission? Heard they could take a bit of power but that is impressive. Props to the builder, beast beemer.
I would rather have own this then a Maclaren P1, anyone with me here?
Why is 70% of everyone hating on it
It’s fucking awesome and someone like him actually keeps the real definition of a build car not like many others who put new oil in and other rims and say they have modded the car
aw, those rice tail lights :(
Really inspired me. Such an amazing car and rightly say an amazing builder! Been working on my 98 M3 which I've owned for 15 years for roughly a year. Yes only a year. I'm sure you spent years. Thank you
.
This is not a BMW anymore
You are absolutely right, now it's fast.
Rafael Samardzic it just has the bmw emblem 😂
So?
@@gorrestfump1237 a E30 needs a BMW heart and nothing else
@@hallodrie69 Nah you're just butthurt
Finally an e30 video. God this car is so beautiful.
lol this engine is normal in usa
quarawlis stafford
But a 1350kg kerb weight isn't.
quarawlis stafford not in an e30, and definitely without turbos. Most swapped e30s get an M50 engine.
its normal to anyone with the means and feasible capability to create a LS swap should and would its a matter of practicality and logic....cheap low maintenance and light weight.....though Iron block is strongly recommended for application of forced induction.....you cant out value what a LS setup brings let alone LS+boost...as the world stands its the go-to.....look at auto cross or any amateur racing its the king lol it makes the driver....look at the nitto challenge lmao some random LS drifter wins drag speed, and track speed at some amateur event where they give a year supply of tires lmao....and hes in you guessed it a NA LS 240sx lmao...only fitting a drifter wins a year supply of tires.
Respect!!! Big ups from Rhode Island.
A german car with a Chevy mottor?... why -.- just why...
this car is still mindblowing tho
+Roy Perlstein Because LS motors are easier to boost and more reliable bang-per-buck.
+Roy Perlstein because good luck making that much power out of the stock I6.
Who the fuck calls a child Roy lol
+rockyrobin24 my parents maybe?
best customized car ever , simple, clean and perfect
Why the camber it's disgusting
thank you for not being rice
+NotQuiteFishFPS Actually that camber is perfect! But the stretched tiny tires are the dumbest thing you can put on a 800 hp car....
+alman alman EXACTLY THANK YOU
+NotQuiteFishFPS i'm guessing for cornering
+alman alman well it isnt you should camber your wheels around as much as a supercar.
thanks for making this vid. its peices like this that keep this old guy pushing on my sc400 project
sounds like shite for a v8 .. I'm disappointed.
love everything else about the build/journey/the grind.
Cars like this are honestly the reason am ever happy😂❤
The build is ruined by the heavy chevy v8. Should have used a BMW engine - an M60 or M62B44 would have kept it a BMW - right now it's a chevy in E30 clothes. Do not like.
Seriously - I've had a M60B44 in my e30 - it's not that hard to do - and I'm willing to bet a BMW V8 is somewhat cheaper in europe / GB than a chevy engine. The BMW engine is also lighter and has a better HP/liter ratio in N/A form witch would have translated in it's boosted form. Oh and it gets better mileage.
thats your choice of what you would have put in it , not mine! i dont care about keeping it bmw my car ill do what i like with it , as for it being heavy yeah might be but it is actually more balanced now than it was as the engine if further back , i never built it for other people to like it i buit it how i wanted it
but thanks for the input
Well the v8 makes it unique
That is a work of art, mad respect for the owner
To me, as a BMW purist, this is simply disgusting. E30's are becoming rarer, what's left should be preserved. This isn't even a BMW, it's a disgusting bastard build which is utterly tasteless. These cars aren't about HP, its about handling.
On the other hand, kudos to putting effort into the car.
He is a mad man with a scientist brain and creates beautiful cars and gives people like me joy and keeps us on track for what we want to do and fell in love with I wish to meet people as creative as this
Please don't call it a BMW. Thanks....
straight up! if u gonna put a v8 atleast put a m60
BMW
Liam Barrington I'm glad you can spell.
+Cartoon Guy thanks mate. Your a gent and a scholar
Liam Barrington "You're" likewise.
Damn. I absolutely respect and appreciate what this man has done to make this beauty come alive.. the car is just stunning and although I personally do not care for the wheels and suspension set up, it's what makes it his and that to me is just inspirational. Nicely done.
