    Just got done swapping out 2 new VDO sensors that my TS508 couldn't see. The sensors were already installed in the tires and aired up to 30psi and driven on before I got around to doing a re-learn or triggering them. (Installed a couple days before I had the Autel.) After a couple calls to VDO tech support, they told me that their Redi-Sensor SE10003A and either 2A or 4A (don't remember) sometimes need a higher end scan tool to Activate (vs Trigger) their sensors and that the Autel wouldn't work... They also said that I should've 'Activated' or triggered them before installing, inflating, balancing, and driving on them and that because of that, they must've locked into a random (wrong signal) and now need to be unlocked with a better tool. *Since I started this comment, I went back out to the garage to see if the Autel TS508 could see / trigger the VDO sensors now that they're uninstalled, however it still doesn't see them. This was my first time doing TPMS's. Live and learn, but thought I'd share for any other noobs out there.

    You can see the coverage and process at www.maxiTPMS.com. On your GC it looks like it is an OBD relearn on WK model, and Auto Relearn on WK47 model. Since you have the pad I would recommend reading the old sensors and just copying them into the MX sensors. Then you would not need to relearn.

    Hi, I have a 2018 Wrx STI with aftermarket wheels, I purchased the TS401, will I need to buy another tool in order to program the new OEM subaru sensors that I will be installing in the new tires? Or can I simply use the copy by activation with the programmed TPMS sensors in the stock tires? Please help!

    • @FlashPerformance
      @FlashPerformance  4 года назад +1

      The WRX requires an OBD2 relearn process, the TS401 does not have the ability to do that. You would need to have a TS501 or better to do that relearn. If you have not purchased and installed sensors yet you can use Autel MX sensors with your TS401 and copy and program each sensor and that would solve your issue as well.

    Is it possible to train a TPMS sensor on my 06 Explorer before installing it in the tire ?

    • @FlashPerformance
      @FlashPerformance  3 года назад

      Yes, The Explorer is a stationary relearn. You would use the TS401 or any other Autel TPMS tool to Auto Create to be a Ford Explorer, then you would do the relearn process. During the relearn process you would scan the wheel or MXsensor that you what in each position to learn it to the vehicle. The horn will honk after each sensor is scanned.

    • @FlashPerformance
      @FlashPerformance  6 лет назад

      Honda uses OBDII relearn, you would need the TS501, TS508, TS601 or TS608. All of these tool can do the cloning procedure with Autel MX-Sensors and do the relearn

    • @raztechstudios
      @raztechstudios 6 лет назад

      icefxtoronto - Would you not be able to just copy the info off the TPMS from the original Honda wheels and then program that info over to the TPMS on the winter wheels. So when You swap wheels the car reads it as being the same sensor or will that not work for the Honda

    • @FlashPerformance
      @FlashPerformance  6 лет назад

      @@raztechstudios Yes, you absolutely could, if you purchased 4 Autel MX-Sensors and cloned each one of them to the same as the ones that are on the current wheel that would work. My concern is that you would not ever be able to rotate your tires. If your Honda shows the location of each tire displayed with PSI on the dash, and they were not put in the same position the pressure readings would be incorrect.

      so if they are not the AUTEL MS Sensors then there is no guarantee it could even be reprogrammed correct, So based on your experience being that this is for the Honda Odyssey Mini Van 2017 i believe, what do you recommend should be done, so that i dont need to go to the dealer every season and get charged $80 every time we do a wheel swap so they can update the Vehicle Computer with the new tire settings so the light doesn't stay on? of am i just stuck in this scenario, and just let it be

    • @FlashPerformance
      @FlashPerformance  6 лет назад

      @@icefxtoronto If you already have sensors in your winter tires, and they are working, just leave them in there. Purchase a TS501 and just do a relearn each winter. Then swap the tires and do another relearn. The relearn takes 10 min and is very easy to do. This way you don't need to break down any tires and you can use what you have. The TS501 will be able to read the sensor you have and gives you step by step how to do the relearn process.

    2014 Kia Rio LX. I bought OEM used sensor. Will this work for me?

    • @FlashPerformance
      @FlashPerformance  5 лет назад

      The Kia Rio requires you to write the sensor ID's to the PCM. You can do this a few different ways. If you have a TS501 TPMS tools or better these will perform that function with no issue. If you have a professional level scan tool you can use the TS401 to ready the IDs and use the Scan tool to write them to the PCM. To answer your questions, the TS401 can not do the process alone.

    • @OliveiraPaulo1978
      @OliveiraPaulo1978 4 года назад

      @@FlashPerformance I believe the same applies for the KIA Forte 2020, right?
      My understanding is that there's no way to clone the sensor IDs from the original sensors into the spare ones I'm buying for my winter tire set (and plus, the car's ECU needs to receive the IDs from the spare set of sensors I buy).

    • @FlashPerformance
      @FlashPerformance  4 года назад

      @@OliveiraPaulo1978 You are in a unique situation. If you are going to run a set of winter tires you could purchase the TS401 or better and clone the OE sensor ID into the new Autel MX Sensors. As long as you write the location on each wheel you could swap summer and winter tires and never have to worry about TPMS. Essentially when you clone the sensors you would put the exact same ID in the exact same location just in a different tire.

    When you have to change a broken TPMS sensor, can you adapt /clone the new one to the cars TPMS system or do you have to buy the TS601?

    • @FlashPerformance
      @FlashPerformance  6 лет назад +1

      The best way is to clone the broken sensor to a new MX sensor with the TS401, that way you are using the same sensor ID the car is already looking for. This can be done with the TS401, TS408 or any other Autel TS tool. If you do an auto create or you use a different sensor you would have to use a scan tool to write the sensor IDs to the car, or a TS501, TS508, TS601, TS608.
