- Опубликовано: 4 ноя 2021
- In today's video we take a look at a 2010 Lexus RX350. The vehicle has had all 4 new tire pressure monitor sensors or tpms sensors replaced. With the growing number of aftermarket or universal tpms sensor brands on the market. It's hard to choose which ones to buy. Should you go with the aftermarket or the OEM sensors? Do they require programming or are they plug and play? What tool do you need if programming is required? Follow along as I answer some of the most commonly asked questions. Then I show you how a tool like the Launch CRT5011e can be used to write OEM sensor ID's into the cars computer and how it can be used with it's own proprietary universal sensors.

One thing to note: Lexus uses hexadecimal numbers on their TPMS sensors. However, replacement universal sensors may have a regular serial number on them. So, all you have to do is use a hexadecimal number converter from a Google search and enter the numbers into the vehicles computer. I ran into this issue after I purchased aftermarket sensors from Amazon that advertised no programming was necessary. However, they didn't work because they broadcasted their serial numbers in non hexidecimal format.
Thank you for yet another great video. Please keep it up.
I have had great luck with the Launch tpms! Launch sensors is all we use at the shop. Thanks for another great video Eric!
Have you ever installed launch sensors on lexus gx470? I heard many aftermarket sensors don’t work well with Toyota and Lexus
Millions of thanks bro. You are the teacher, I have learned a lot from you, I hope all the success to you and your family in your whole life. They say : Whoever teaches you a letter, he is your teacher. Warmest greetings to you from the lovely city of Duhok / Kurdistan Region.
Agreed
As always good information and delivery, thank you
Very good, and repeating was indeed necessary to set it straight in the viewer’s mind.
Thank you for this precise explanation and remedy!
Awesome video. Since you registered OEM sensors on a 2010 Lexus I should be able to do the same with my 2011 Toyota Avalon. Thanks for the detailed video. Well done Sir.
Good explanations. Thanks.
Awesome video, Ordered one
Thanks for the video
Nice explanation of programming sensors.
Great tutorial
One of your tyres was showing 47 psi, but you went ahead and read that figure anyway and put it into the car ECU. So when you next drive it you will need to deflate that one tyre to match the others. When you do that the tyre light will come on as you have gone beyond the parameters of the sensor. Always set the tyres to the correct pressure before you do anything else.
Hello from Morocco , thanks men for all ur educational videos ♥️
Thank you for watching!

Do you have any handmade rugs for sale??
Good work 👍
Nice video brother...well done
Excellent video. I was thinking of replacing a few bad tpms sensors on my 2004 Lexus GX470. I have been told that many aftermarket sensors don’t work well with lexus or toyota. So I figured i should just get OEM Lexus ones. Do you know if you need valve install kits if you buy them nee from the dealership??
I also read that if you accidentally hit the reset button on the vehicle, you possibly have to unlock the ecm. Have you ever ran into that problem?
Very informative video. Had no idea that aftermarket TPMS sensor manufacturers encrypt their units so that only their own proprietary scanners will work with them. I hope I said that right LOL. You provide good information for consumers at large who don't know about stuff like this.
Thanks man!!!
Good job
good review !!!!1
Thanks brother I’m locksmith just buy rx350 for my daughter and have 3 bad sensors I going to buy the launch and program my self
Great tool! Didn't know about each aftermarket sensor using their own device. Learned something new today. Thank you for that.
Original tpms sensors on my 06 Frontier went 10 years, started giving intermittent problems with low battery power and colder temps back in 2016. Replaced all 4 with Nissan OEM sensors all is good in tpms land.
Thanks for posting have a 2012 Honda accord have a tpms code i do have alltell scanner.
Could you use like Napa tpms sensors with oe programming options?
Thank you
Yup. I did that exactly. Clone the aftermarket sensor with the old oem id sensor and the car thinks nothing is wrong. Only thing is you have to ensure you get the right tmps sensor as different brand cars uses different freqency. But then again, the newer (more expesnive) aftermarket tmps sensor has both frequency so you don't have second guess. However, I do notice this takes a slight longer for the system read sensor as it have pick up the correct frequency and correct id output data the car is looking. It does work nicely and does save you some money if you choose this route than oem tmps sensors.
Saludos amigo Eric from north Houston
Thanks!!!
I have two sets of rims & and tires, a winter set & summer set so when I swap it back to the summer set do I have to reprogram that summer set of tires
Awesome video! Does the tool rest oil change light?
One of my friends put regular old fashioned valve stems on his car. Then bought a container with new sensors in it, pressurized the container to 35 pounds and set the car to the new sensors. Finally putting the container in the trunk. With a magic marker writing the date of replacement on it. I thought it was slick.
why would your friend do that? slick? i hate to say this but that was kinda dumb. 😂
On my G35, I saved lots of money buying the aftermarket sensors. Just wait until you need new tires so your Tire Store doesn't charge extra for a mounting charge.
So I bought the exact same tool CRT 5011E that you are demonstrating . When I go into TPMS OBD II it will not show vehicles original TPMS serial numbers or anything. It does work when I aim the tool at the sensor on the tire. But when I try to read it off the OBD II HOOKED UP TO THE CAR’S COMPUTER NOTHING. So do I send it back or am I doing something wrong? I am working on a 2010 Toyota Tacoma. I bought this because you were demonstrated get on a Lexus, which is Toyota.
Great video! Can u explain how to do the cloning procedure for blank sensors. Thank u!!
I'm never selling my 1970 VW
The computer tools you need to work on these new cars cost more then the car is worth!
This is absolutely true......
I replaced with an aftermarket tpms sensor on my Chevy traverse and had no issue doing a relearn with a $25 relearn tool.
Gm /Chevy are much easier to learn then most vehicles with cheap relearn tool. I think you can program some model with the factory remote also.
I am defintely on the same boat when it comes to TPMS sensor and tool bundles. Looking at the Launch and Autel handheld TPMS programming and relearn tools, they have free software updates for the tool's lifetime. But they only program their own branded blank sensors. The Ateq and Bartec tools cover a wider variety of programmable aftermarket sensors, if not all. But you'll have to pay a software license fee once the initial period expires. All of them, on the other hand, are capable of reading direct-fit OEM, direct-fit aftermarket, and programmable TPMS sensors with the sensor IDs written already. Plus, they're capable of performing relearns (OBD, drive, and stationary).
To make a long story short, we're at the mercy of the manufacturers when it comes to the tools and the replacement TPMS sensors we use.
Overall, excellent video.
🔥🔥
Oh what a tangled web we weave! Fortunately my local service station (yes it still is) are all too happy to check/adjust tyres and pump the fuel. They seem to prefer it to letting the punters spill petrol around and infect their nozzles and tyre gauges...
i got a autel ts508, am i using it wrong or this machine does not let me write into the computer ecu like the one you used? (My sensor are new oem)
do you have any instruction video to fix the VSA for honda accord?
thnx bro
On my 2010 acura csx same as honda civic l have two set of rims & tires winter& dimmer I bought a set of aftermarket tpms sensors would the Launch CRT5011E program it when I install my summer tires withe tge aftermarket tpms sensors
Can I install tpms sensors on my winter rims on my acura csx 2010 & when I install my summer tires fo I have to reprogram it
Hey my brother just wondering if you ever got the opportunity to film at that Supercar collection. Replaced it had that extraordinary AMG Mercedes I look on your Channel all the time I'm subscribed and I never saw anything there but I was wondering if maybe it was with somebody released on another Channel just wondering that was a really unique car collection. Keep up the great work my friend
All sensors come with their own ID. None are blank. That tool reads the new sensor, activates them, then allows you to transfer these new IDs to the ecu.
Merci.
Great tpms tool I have one and it works great.
Thanks for the info on the update I was unaware about that 👍
Yes. Update the tool using the instructions in the video’s description. This tool comes with free updates for life. Thanks for watching!
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO thanks man
Does work with any model??
@@l3nyg694 You have to see if the tool has the car model or new models. I believe it can be updated and you should be good to go. I have the maxiTPMS tool which is the same as what the video poster is using.
THANKS
Is this able to program for a 2014 Lexus GS350? I didn't the model listed when you selected the RX model. Would like to know before I purchase on amazon. Thanks!
I noticed the scanned appeared to also ask for the spare, do you program it also?
Hello to all friends, what do you recommend best of the TPS Oem or aftermarket? I need to install my 4 tires of this 2004 Mercedes Benz E500 4matic sedan. Thank you
One of my sensors broke and I had it replaced with a standard rubber valve steam. I no longer have the broken sensor. Would I still be able to “clone” the new sensors without the one old broken one. I still have three other sensors working on the truck. I’d like to replace all four of them
The menus in my Autel TS508 look exactly the same as in your Launch (the sensor relearn screen is a direct match, too). Both tools probably have the same circuit boards. They're a great value and easy to use!
Toyota dealer wanted $450 for ONE tpms OEM replacement!!! Went to a reputable tire shop and they did all four tires with Autel aftermarkets for $280. I usually only want OEM parts on my car but I could not spend an extra $1500 just for sensors.
One thing to note, the tire pressures should be set to the door jamb placard before training or relearning, as the PCM receives the current pressure and assumes it is correct for triggering the warning low pressure. At least that’s how I understand it to work with universal sensors…
You can do it afterwards: fill to correct pressure and press the set button by the driver’s knee.
Hello, please can this tools be able to program, keys as well?
Decent video, but I will disagree when you say that most generic TPMS sensors don't come pre-programmed. There are TONS of them available that are pre-programmed, and only a relearn is necessary. I've done that numerous times with generic TPMS sensors with an Autel TS508 which is a similar process as the Launch. Each programmer brand tends to use only their own brand of programmable TPMS sensors.
Will the Lauch work on Nissan Altima sensors ?
I wanted to ask you we installed 2 new TPMS sensors in the back of our Toyota sienna so I'm guessing the next step would be to do a relearn, am I correct ?
Oui
Does anyone know which TPMS tool is compatible with Geartronics TPMS 315 mhz sensors? I bought them before i saw this video. A commenter said the Foxwell T1000 tool would but wanted some agreement before i bought one.
Merci.
Didnt mention about driving before setting sensors to wake them up, I just mention that because I changed them on a Ford transit van and I couldn’t get them to program I bought them off of Amazon and thought they were faulty. That was before I realized you have to drive first to wake up the sensors. I would imagine that you would not have to do that though with the tool that you have there
I would expect the signal from the tool should wake the sensor up.
I read that you can deflate them by 10lbs. and that is suppose to activate them also, without driving them
im a second owner of a car that doesn't come with the original tpms sensors! they lost it. what to do?
Thank God my 07 TL doesn't need programming. Just plug and play and the ECM does the rest.
Brother, thanks for all the information. Your video was exactly what I was looking for. Liked and Subscribe ✌️😁
I wanted to also ask you, what are your thoughts on the Autel ITS600 compared to this?
Aside from the touch screen being the only noticiable physical difference, does it offer anything different this tool can’t?
I bought that same one, I updated it and I changed the home screen and it doesn't work, how can I put the version that it brought?
👍🏻
I bought this tool based on your recommendation. I have a car to do all four sensor on in a couple weeks. Got the tool. Did the update. So far, it looks great! Thanks for the review and the discount code! Made a pretty good deal out of it. I'm upgrading from an Autel TS401 which is a nice tool but I always have to break out the big scan tool to relearn new sensor ID's to vehicles.
Well, I may have spoken too soon. This Launch tool won't trigger the sensors in my 08 Odyssey Touring with 4 known good sensors and fully working TPMS system. My Autel TS401 triggers them just fine. This tool is probably going back.
As an update to this. I finally sent this tool back. I tried scanning four known good sensors on a 2017 Jeep Cherokee and it wouldn't scan them. I did use it to relearn four new sensors into a 2008 Hyundai Azera and it worked as it was supposed to but if the tool is unreliable in simply reading sensors it's not worth keeping. Too bad...It was a great deal but not if it doesn't work.
@@johnaclark1 You have to select the specific vehicle before it will scan the sensor in the tire. The check sensor function on the main menu is for the launch sensors only. I wonder if this would of helped. Sorry I didn't see your response until now.
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO Yeah, I know how to use the tool. I used the specific vehicle function but it didn't work on numerous vehicles. I returned it and bought the Autel TS601 and it works fantastic. Scanned all the sensors the other one wouldn't. I don't recommend the Launch TPMS tool.
@@johnaclark1 Yes same here. I just received this tool today and I've tried it on my Mercedes E220. I couldn't read the sensors at the wheels nor via OBD. When I tried to read the sensor's ID via OBD I was getting a message "this function is not supported at present". Waste of money. I wish I knew about the Autel TS601 sooner. I did not look into it because I always trust Eric's judgment!!!
How can you program 8 sensors so you can swap tires between summer and winter season without reprogramming?
I bought this tool base on this video and its nothing but problems it wouldn't write ID into mercedes sprinter and also it will show wrong pressures, i have to fix it with the autel
Didn’t you have to set the tire pressure (per the door placard) and press the ‘set’ button under the dash by the driver’s right knee?
They come programed now
I was NOT able to get check sensor information working. I'm talking about the one you direct access via the main menu which give you sensor voltage info.
That function on the main menu is for the Launch sensors only. To read other sensors you have to select the vehicle year, make and model first.
Will your device read all sensors beside OEM? This device does NOT read the Battery life of the sensors?
We don't appear to have that tool in the UK. Over here the same looking tool is the sold by autel. Surprisingly for twice the price. Unless anyone knows better?
Were the replacement sensors Toyota/Lexus sensors?
Doesn't that only work on programmable sensors? What if you get non programmable after market sensors?
What aftermarket sensor was used with this tool. My shop manager cannot find the launch brand sensors in the auto part stores that we deal with.
amzn.to/3MVsh84
Hi Eric. I have a question for you. If can answer it I will appreciate it. If a car has aftermarket sensors (not Launch ones) would this product be able to read their ID? Thanks.
He mentioned that it will only read the launch one or factory OEM ones
@@raiderman28 Thanks for clarifying that.
Can this programmer work with non launch sensors
Question. I have a battery draining issue in my Acura. I know the tpms sensors are bad and need replaced and was wondering if they could be what is causing the power draining?
Tire pressure sensors have no physical connection to the car’s battery.
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO thank u sir
I bought new sensors, I thought one was dead. It was not. The device relearning the sensor and the light is off. The light has been on for about a year and a half. Thanks
I was looking at that tool yesterday. It's hard to find one that will work on all aftermarket sensors without spending $800+. I like launch, but looks like I'm going to get a different brand for tpms.
Well he does explain that.
@@Cheepchipsable Corporate greed doesn't help techs do their job. Autel does the same with their tool. It's annoying when you need a specific brand of sensor and they are not in stock locally.
Save your $$$, the LAUNCH tool has all the capability you need!
TPMS sensors should be a factory option. Or at least have a switch that permanently disables the system without having any warning lights.
Do you program the sensor or make commercials for tools?
ATG has been teaching & telling thousand of people to change the battery. No need to buy this $250 tool just to do 1 time.
Them you run the vehicle for about 17 miles & the control panel's TPMS sensor will go away.
I done it on a Porsche 959 and got $95,000.00. And the client was very happy.
If anyone think it can't be done or want to know more, reply with your email address here.
Hello could you give the information to the shop? I'd really appreciate it.
I just put some new rims, tire and sensor on my car, just by me putting those new wheels on my car the sensors automatically was picked up by my car I don’t know how but the tire shop didn’t had to do anything
hi ,i jus havd a question ,does it support chinese car i mean is there chinese brand in the menu?
What if some tire shop smashed your sensor and it's no longer available
Is the programming & relearn procedure the same thing? I ordered some aftermarket Roadfar TPMS for my 2012 RX 350 & I was able to read the info from the sensors with an Autel tool but I cannot get the car TPMS light to go off. Please help!
No, they are two distinctly different functions in a two-step process. 1. PROGRAM. When buying aftermarket programmable/ universal/ blank sensors, you use the tpms tool to first PROGRAM the sensors to the specific vehicle by make/model/year protocol. (If buying oem or aftermarket PRE-programmed sensors, the 'program' bit basically has been done for you by the manufacturer).
2. RELEARN. Once the sensors have been programmed to the vehicle and you have their information on the tpms tool (i.e. unique IDs and location on vehicle) you use the tool to RELEARN that information to the vehicle's ECU, so it knows the ID's and their location on the vehicle (e.g. Sensor 123 is on front left wheel. Sensor 456 is on front right wheel, etc).
Hope that clarifies it.
@@STiHigh1 si je veux installer un seul capteur OEM sur le véhicule, il est possible de réapprendre l'identifiant unique manuellement dans l'ECU ? Merci.
@lusoprazer. In English, please.
@@lusoprazer. Ok, I translated your post. To recap, re PROGRAMMING: If the sensor being fitted is an OEM sensor, or an aftermarket sensor that has been pre-programmed to your car (i.e. make, model, year), there should be no need to program the sensor. Just fit the tyre to the car for the relearning process.
Re RELEARNING: I believe that with most modern cars with TPMS, you may not even need to manually relearn that sensor to the ECU as the ECU will shortly recognise the oem programmed sensor after say, you drive the car with the new sensor fitted for X minutes or Y kilometres (read your owners manual). The ECU will then automatically update its data to include the new sensor unique identifier (ID) and where it is fitted on the car (e.g. left, front tyre). If your car's TPMS does NOT automatically do it, I think you would have to use a TPMS tool and manually connect it to the car's ECU port and manually input the sensor's data to the ECU. Hope that helps.lo
Merci.
I used the Launch tool on an 07 Ford Expedition after I purchased some Schrader tpms preprogrammed sensors. It read the sensors but for some reason it duplicated the sensor for the RR tire to the RL tire. So now when I do the relearn procedure it completes on the RR tire vise the RL tire and the TPMS light won't clear. So read I will just have to replace the other 2 sensors to get everything to work right. Also when I first when in to read the sensors it gave message of keep triggered events and didn't know if supposed to hit Yes or No.
After market cloning ?
I've got a Skoda Superb (VAG Group), it has TPMS but much to my surprise it has no sensors...go figure that one!
It may use an indirect system much like Honda does. Here is a video that explains how it works. ruclips.net/video/VORM_DTg7ns/видео.html
Yah that system is much better because it uses wheel speed to tell if it has the correct air
@@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO It uses the ABS sensors to notice a difference in wheel rotation speed on each axle. You zero the sensors and if there's a difference of 15% or more on one axle it knows a tyre has deflated and brings up the warning. It's not specific to what tyre has deflated so unless it's obvious you have to gauge all 4 tyres.
I have a code C2124 on my 2014 Toyota RAV4. ( Tpms ID4 not received). Is it possible for you to fix it. How can I contact you?. I’m in Fort Bend county. Appreciate your reply?
Hello do you take customers?
Can program other brand sensors or just launch sensors?
Just Launch sensors. OEM sensors come already programmed. The tool just allows you to learn the OEM sensor ID numbers into the car’s computer.
Les numéros d'identification des capteurs OEM peuvent être inscrits manuellement dans l'ordinateur de la voiture par exemple avec un scanner DELPHI DS150e ?
I just bring my crv to dealer and they suggest to change the four sensors for 890$ thats too much so I declined the service.
