- Hello!
Friendship chainsaw in mass production since 1955.
My saw - "Friendship 4" Engine power - 4 hp
In this video I will show the process of restoring an old chainsaw.
I hope you find the information from the video useful:
Rust removal, electrolysis
Galvanized metal
How easy it is to galvanize metal with your own hands
Aluminum painting
How to rinse a rusty gas tank
Old chain sharpening
Simple ways to get rid of rust
Paint wash
Happy viewing!
This man didn't have any fancy machines to clean the parts like sandblasters, he did the restoration old school with expertise and hard work. Lots of respect to you my friend, you completely deserve these views.

@vaults4life No, you are exactly correct. I would have never taken a laptop apart in the past. But, now I find vids showing tear downs (often because someone is doing a cpu swap or resoldering on a power connector). Immensely helpful. I know some mechanics, but an engine tear-down the way this guy did is beyond me. But, watching this guy do it makes me see how it's done. It's that fear of the unknown that often prevents folks. But, once they see how it's done (and an expert gives them advice on where all the pitfals and shortcuts are) then it seems doable. And, doing it on old kit like this doesn't feel bad, b/c if you screw it up..well, it was screwed up to begin with. But, I love these resto vids, b/c they make me feel like I could give it a go if I found stuff like this. Informative and entertaining. So, you are spot-on.
Where did I heard that before??🤔
Oh.... Thats me too 😁

The chainsaw's name is "Дружба", Friendship. The best friend of a man is a tool
This has the same energy as naming a sword kindness
Abhi Mayadam No, that’s a distinct, ironic energy, which is equally as powerful.

How do you say groovy in Russian?
People call this relaxing to see and hear
But am like *HOW THE HELL DOES HE REMEMBER WHERE THE PICES GO?!*
I approximately remembered during disassembly :)
I guess filming yourself taking it apart acts as a handy backup to see where things went.
you are literally watching how he remembers where all the pieces go
heaven forbid some part of the disassembly is out of frame.
If this is your job or main hobbie. As i am a small engine mechanic. Everything has an order, you simply have to remember. Having a chainsaw ran over. Disassembling it. Ordering the parts waiting two weeks while it sits in a box in pieces then reassembling it in under thirty minutes. It's tricky but if you understand how it works. And you know how it comes apart. Its like clock work.

It is the PEOPLE AND CULTURE I love to study! ANd Russia and its people are magnificent. I always found their approach to building and engineering machinens and airplans/tanks/tractors, ect really cool. And yes, I loved their paint schemes better than ours, they 'fit' the era of the 50's 60's and 70's and even 80's better than the western countries. TEal and orange was a good look for this saw. Despite the name on the box - "uglo shlifoval'naya mashina (U.SH.M)" or angle grinder.
The first copies of such machines came to the Soviet Union from the then friendly Bulgaria, where they were made. According to the habit of the people, a long and inconvenient name was tried to be shortened. As a result, a new word - "bolgarka" - became firmly in use.

the firm who made this chainsaw is orginaly known for motorcycles :D
Excellent restoration, and techniques; I do like the chemical interactive processes, as well as the elbow grease.
Great to see a different design perspective from other countries and people. Love the detachable pull start.
Thank you!:)
When I watch videos of Russia, I can't really see why we should hate each-other.
Go watch Russian dashcam videos. Then youll understand
exactly...I don't hate...believe it is just a feature of the human condition, us vs. them
especially about a working man and his tools! workers of the world unite! the american working poor and the russian working poor and the iranian working poor all have more in common than we have in common with our respective oligarchic politicians and capitalists who rule us and declare wars "for" us!

THINK PEOPLE..... THINK
All countries have people like us, it's the lunatic leaders that are the problem.... AND the ENDLESS PURSUIT OF POWER AND MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At 8.14 he is outside in the snow!! I wondered why he wore winter gloves and heavy clothes the entire process! I have a shop with tool boxes full of tools and heat. i would never think of doing what this person did. The quality of the job with limited tools and less then perfect conditions is a gigantic testament to his passion for this type of restorations! i am subscribing on the content, however this mans all out desire and drive is merit alone for subscription!!
Thank you!:)
His regimen for cleaning the tank: First citric acid in water, then caustic soda (calcium hydroxide) in water, then clean water then acetone.
