Great video. Planning something similar with my handheld GMRS…Subbed!
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for subscribing!
Get some light when filming!
Yea no kidding! I recently uped my lighting game!
Be careful adding too many connectors you'll get some frequency/output drop. Also great now i have to add this to my list of things to buy hahaha.
Good point!
Thanks for the video. Have you ever had an issue with overcharging on the battery? I've been wondering if I could leave my UV-5R on while on the charging base and doing a similar idea for a home station, but I came across several comments about not operating while charging. Any issues?
I’ve not personally had an issue with overcharging the batteries. Though I do use every few weeks. So that might be why.
My radios do operate while charging. I use one as a police scanner and it sits on a base station. It receives just fine sitting in its base station. And it also works with the charger plugged into my extended batteries.
How well does this work for you?
Works very well! I used this setup on every trip, including my last trip through Coyote flats. We had one person stay at camp and the rest of us went out exploring. We stayed in communication the whole time and were at least 4-5 miles from each other.
