I always thought he put out cigarettes on his head. His chronic smoking and the already kinda grotesque character design was what made it plausible to me back then.
It also goes the other way for a lot of companies too. If you're running late at doing your job they'll tell you to clock out before you finish your job and the manager will take over finishing your job to prevent you from getting overtime because they don't want to spend anything on over time. Overtime exists for a reason. Geez people!
Gentle reminder that before this, Rocko was on time, but Mr. Smitty took up the only parking space, despite living next door. Rocko was forced to park five blocks over, in the high crime area, and run to the store from there. Mr. Smitty's a douchebag.
I’m glad rocko got back at his boss by towing his car to an impound lot and having that same time is money lecture get thrown at him by the manager of the tow yard
That instance of Rocko being late just before that lecture was ENTIRELY Mr. Smitty's fault. If he hadn't stolen the parking space right up front, Rocko would've been on-time.
I forgot to mention that Steven Hillenburg, the creator of SpongeBob, worked on Rocko's modern life. That could explain the vast similarities between both shows.
You're thinking of the episode where Mr Smitty goes out of town and leaves Rocko in charge. This clip is the episode Rocko's car gets impounded he has to use public transportation. And yes, Smitty is worse than Mr Krabs
I'm so glad to have kind bosses, almost all I've had have been so good to me that I find it hard to believe people this cruel are in charge of a lot of places.
Honestly same, I mean I live in a mostly small town in Arizona but still I've had bosses who were genuinely nice, the first being a college job and my boss was really nice accommodating knowing that I was a college student, my second that I currently have I have a few bosses a couple who've came and gone but regardless are/were genuinely nice and decent.. I mean ok I've had a store director previously who had a bad attitude but for the most part was pretty decent and I had no personal problems with him, frankly I feel this type of boss is incredibly over exaggerated even for a cartoon
Mr. Smitty: Gets on Rocko for being late, in doing his “Time is money” lecture and chart. Also Mr. Smitty: Wastes time in doing his “Time is money” lecture and chart.
Compared to some reprimands I've seen, the pissed-off old toad wasn't that bad. It's not like he had him sign papers and ramble on with nonsense forever.
Love the MC Hammer reference on the diagram.
Where?
Look at the top, to the right of the clock. “MC🔨”
Also the clock, indicating that it’s Hammer Time.
The "MONEY!!!!!" always makes me crack a giant smile.

I was today years old when I realized Rocko's boss had LITERAL hair plugs.

The way the boss described time being money, he's not lying.
Bwaaaahahahahah he is wrong.

Yeah he is
And a hypocrite.
Yeah, he really is. Always liked what happened with him at the end of that episode though.
Horrible boss
Eww a furry.
Felt so sorry for Rocko in this episode.
Same but at least Mr Smitty gets what’s coming to him in the end
It’s hard not to feel sorry for him in almost every episode.

The money part made me laugh as a little kid but we didn’t have RUclips to rewatch it. Now I can replay it as many times as I want !
0:38 MONEY!
MC Hammer. Stop hammer time.
It's weird how the guy who made this gem, made Camp Lazlo, I think we can agree Rocko had waaay better jokes.
Yeah, Camp Lazlo was really tame compared to Lazlo. Camp Lazlo just kind of lacked the high (bizarre) energy that Rocko had.
Lazlo was so mid in retrospect
Camp lazlo was a great show

Rocko's boss is inconceivable
Rocko's eyeballs popping out
I think of Mr. Smitty as a precursor to Modern Mr. Krabs in the post-movie SpongeBob era.
The guy who voices Spongebob also voiced Heffer (Heifer?)
Mr. Krabs Bad Roles on Season 6-8
Rocko - SpongeBob
Heffer - Patrick
Mr Bighead - Squidward
Mr. Krabs - Mr Smitty

To add to it...
Dr. Hutchinson - Sandy (loosely)
Spunky - Gary
Peaches - The Flying Dutchman
Big Man - Mermaid Man

MC Hammer. I just got it.

Perfectly reasonable boss. Actually, he was even a bit too lenient.
