2. Open any chat and click the camera button. Now you can make it landscape

To get a pro mic (mixer etc.) into the video, you just need to connect an audio interface into your computer. Then choose the audio interface in QuickTime from the drop down box.

A nice tip i have is just to MIRROR (thru screen share) your Iphone into your Macbook! Works like a sharm, supersmooth, wireless

it will only be horisontal if the app you are using is horisontal on the iphone. when I have the camera app, and tip it horisontal while the cable is connected, the image goes horisontal there too. 💚
I turn it horizontal on my phone but it still shows it vertical on the screen...... and also can't get it to go full screen on the mac..
ThatGirlJess I figured it out. You need an app that turns the screen horizontal. The camera on the phone doesn’t do it. So I bought filmic pro and it works like a charm. It’s only $15
and you open that app to record on the iphone?
ThatGirlJess I open the app then open QuickTime on my Mac and as soon as you open QuickTime is gonna ask you if you want to record a new “movie” or you want to mirror you iPhone. Keep in mind that my iPhone is connected to my Mac when I do this. It’s a little confusing but it works. I like that it connected cause there isn’t any lag.

before you connect the lightning cable make sure you have the phone in the orientation you want it. Also, make sure you've unlocked the "lock orientation" (next to the do not disturb icon in the quick menu)
This plus the horizon app ( to show in landscape mode) is absolutely perfect

I can mirror the screen of my iPhone X, but when I turn my iPhone into landscape mode, the quicktime player doesn't rotate and stays in portrait mode. Why could that be? Can someone please help? It's so frustrating.

We have the newer iPhone, I just found out after hours of research the newer iPhone doesn't rotate when they are on the home screen or with the camera but if you do texts or safari, it will rotate. If it doesn't after that, try going to the menu on the top right pressing down, and uncheck Portrait Orientation Lock. This locks the orientation in all the apps but again, once you unlock it, it will only work with certain functions like texts or safari :/
IdaP the camera app rotates, and it shoots and saves the images in portrait mode. The problem is, the iPhone x and anything after no longer support the Camera app’s ability to go into portrait mode, but quick time will accept other apps that go into portrait.
Yes, I meant doesn’t rotate when is used with QuickTime player. About the apps is also true but you need to purchase these apps and they can be pricey, there’s not an option for free. I heard Horizon App but it’s doesn’t work with QuickTime player

I tried that Horizon App but if you are trying to use the iPhone/Mac connection as a viewfinder because you are a RUclipsr, it won't work through QuickTime Player, it will turn black. The only option is using the front camera but the camera is not as good as the one in the back and it will be hard looking at the camera since is so tiny

I can't rotate my camera in horizontal as in the video. any tips on how to do it, because once I start recording and I turn my iPhone in horizontal position the view in the quickstart doesn't turn and remains in vertical and this is very uncomfortable.

Use a different USB port for your computer if you have two (for some reason that worked for me)
Same happened to me. I closed RUclips and followed the instructions. My iPhone appeared under the record button. Hope this helps... a year later lol
how did you flip the screen? Mine is only vertical no option to flip horizontally

I'd prefer to view it on my ipadpro. Better battery and less noise from the fans. But untill there is a free option to mirror my iphone camera on my iPad pro, I'll be using this solution. how did you rotate the screen I have the xs max and it won't rotate help
Luxielove notice the little white bar indicating the bottom of your screen. If you turn your phone horizontally the new camera app will only rotate the controls but not that bar. This means that for some reason the app is still in portrait mode but recording in landscape mode. Such a mess..

If you have a recent macbook and iPhone you can use a screen mirroring (from control center of your iPhone) to mirror your screen to MacBook without QuickTime. This WILL rotate the camera into landscape.
I had the same problem when using QuickTime Player connected to an iphone 11.. I could not find any way to get it into landscape orientation!

Try both usb c ports on your mac, for some reason only one works for me
you have to make sure you "trust this device" when you connect your iPhone, then open QuickTime (or reboot QuickTime if you had it open already)

hi, I tried it out, but when I use my phone as a camera (and rodepodmic to record sound), quick time records good sound, but phone camera recording is not seen on the Mac screen and video, albeit remains in the phone, does not show up or record on mac. In other words, quick time saves something like a blurry screen. What shall I do about it?
