Really wish you would've taken a look at lag issues especially considering some of us watched this whole video in hopes to mirror to a separate device with 0 latency. What would you recommend for this use case or do you have another video on it? Keep in mind, even the wired connections I've tried (QuickTime for example) still produce too much latency to be a viable gaming solution.
Thanks Justin! You put this video together pretty well, so much so that you have encouraged me to try out Reflector. It's also not expensive. I certainly hope I will find success with Reflector. I could literally scream from frustration from trying to get other things to work, taking several Android devices (phone, tablet etc.) and installing host-and-client apps from all over the entire world and still nothing works. Having batteries die on me is one thing and easily addressed, but to have wireless devices cut connection with your laptop when you don't want to supervise them is beyond frustrating. Thanks again and I hope to taste success with Reflector!

I'm having the same issue! I pull up QuickTime, have it mirroring my phone, but the window doesn't rotate with my phone. It's really annoying and I haven't been able to find a single answer online as to why. My screen orientation isn't locked, so I don't know what else it could be.
Same here as well. I had to *real life* mirror my iPhone screen with a mirror and a music stand to see the screen while filming with the back camera 🤷🏻♂️

It looks like QuickTime works only for screen and NOT audio. I tried it on my MBP 2017 and noticed that playing video automatically muted the audio on both device despite choosing the iPhone microphone.

I’m a modeller/diorama and trying to film my work with an iPhone 6 which works really well except when the phone is attached to a tripod and pointed at an angle so I can’t see the screen. Your video gave me some options but I don’t have room to use a laptop in my work area but I do have another iPhone 6. Do you know if there is a way of using the second iPhone to mirror/monitor the first iPhone while it’s recording? Hope you can help as this would save me buying an expensive camera and monitor.

Wait, I just figured it out, I'm not sure the setting that is causing this issue, but the fix for me was to go to my iphone and reset all settings found in general -> reset -> reset all settings
Was super excited about #1 until it didn't work. I hooked my iPhone directly to my brand new MBP and Quicktime froze at about the 6 second mark a number of times. Any thoughts? I assumed WiFi wouldn't be the issue because the phone is directly connected but I'm a newbie so maybe I'm wrong there. After some research I've seen other people have this issue as well but no resolution. Off to try some of the other suggestions. Great video tho! 😊
Really helpful video. We found a solution: go to text messages, for example, rotate your phone to landscape mode and lock the screen (pull down options to lock down the screen) - go back to the camera app and now the mirroring in Quicktime should be in landscape mode. Hope that helps.

Q: If I have a document or a picture that I want to display on screen, 1) what is the best software / program / technique for doing so? 2) What is the actual method for doing the display operation? In my case I am contemplating coming up with a video where I don't necessarily need (nor want) to be on camera. I want to more or less be able to speak off-camera but show and otherwise explain documents and perhaps pictures that I want to show on-screen. This is what I am trying to accomplish. So you want editing software to show some documents with a voice over. This video will help you find editing software: ruclips.net/video/7dWfflXW_tI/видео.html ... once you've worked that out then you can add your documents into the software and add a voice over which you could easily record on your phone!

Hello, I just recently discovered the mirroring feature of my android phone. When I first used it, it worked fine. Well, I had to try to figure out on my own just how I got the feature to work and how to get it to come back on my TV, after turning both my phone and TV off for awhile. - I have an LG smart TV. and SMART VIEW as my mirroring app which came on my phone - And, I was able to watch and listen to my phone on my TV at first. Then, after pressing a few buttons to try and figure out the way to make the mirroring feature work again, I began having trouble with the sound and picture coming from my phone to my TV. I believe I have the sound problem fixed, but, I'm still having trouble with being able to mirror the picture. All I can get to show is like a digital equalizer with dots showing/blinking while the sound plays over my TV speakers. I'd like to be able to have the sound coming from my sound system I have hooked up to my TV. Mostly, though, I need to figure out how to mirror the picture again. Would you possibly know what I can try to do so that I will be able to view the picture again ? I appreciate your help and advice.

Great video. Is there a way to record video on your newer iPhone (e.g. iphone11) and use your old iphone (e.g. iphone6) as the monitor?

Hey Justin, when I turn my phone to landscape while screen mirroring on my MacBook, the screen mirror on my MacBook doesn't change its orientation even after me removing my screen lock. Specifically, talking about the camera app while recording videos in landscape mode. Could you please help me with this?

Still works fine for me on an iphone 7 and 10.. maybe it's something up with the 11 if that's what you're using

Thanks for including the pros and cons for each type all in one video so that it’s easy for a beginner like myself to tell the differences and decide which one to use without having to watch multiple videos and getting super confused. Plus I won’t even know exactly what to search up if I had to do it myself. I’ll probably miss a few techniques that available out there.

at 1:49, how did you get QuickTime to record and display in landscape as you phone is? My phone is recording in landscape but on the computer, it is portrait and I have to look at it sideways.

I just recently discovered the mirroring feature of my android phone. When I first used it, it worked fine. Well, I had to try to figure out on my own just how I got the feature to work and how to get it to come back on my TV, after turning both my phone and TV off for awhile. - I have an LG smart TV. and SMART VIEW as my mirroring app which came on my phone - And, I was able to watch and listen to my phone on my TV at first. Then, after pressing a few buttons to try and figure out the way to make the mirroring feature work again, I began having trouble with the sound and picture coming from my phone to my TV. I believe I have the sound problem fixed, but, I'm still having trouble with being able to mirror the picture. All I can get to show is like a digital equalizer with dots showing/blinking while the sound plays over my TV speakers. I'd like to be able to have the sound coming from my sound system I have hooked up to my TV. Mostly, though, I need to figure out how to mirror the picture again. Would you possibly know what I can try to do so that I will be able to view the picture again ? I appreciate your help and advice.

I can get my phone mirrored( I want to make those art videos so I am recording with my iPhone) and it is in landscape mode but the quick time play view isn't. Any ideas?
