Bro please stop spreading the lie of the major price hike. The PSVR1 was $400 for the headset alone, but the bundle for the headset, camera and controllers which are all needed to play proper VR was $500. That's already just a slight increase up to $550 for the PSVR2, but when you adjust for inflation the PSVR was actually $620 in todays dollar value.
To be honest the only reason Why the psvr was cheaper was because the moves were not included but if they were they would almost just be the same price Edit:spelling mistakes
Exactly, people needs to call out this "This so called Journalist" a couple of minutes of research will give you the true price comparison of the PSVR and PSVR2.
People can complain about the price… but I would much rather complain about the price than complain about the resolution, FOV, lack of Haptics, and lack of eye tracking. Sony could have made a $399 headset but then people would complain that it wasn’t truly “next gen.” PSVR2 is going to be incredible.
Point 1 is incorrect. PSVR2 costs 550. In 2016, the PSVR1 with the headset, camera, and PS Moves cost 600. To be fair, there was a limited launch bundle at $499.
I thought this, lazy journalism. They also complain about the cable but don't explain that the wire will is essential to play bigger and better games (if developers get on board)
@@mattchamp_87 yeah I hate it so much when people complain about the wire. Firstly, they threaded the cable through the headset so that the wire comes out from the back therefore it won’t get in the way as much. Secondly, you can something that goes on the ceiling which holds the cable up so you can spin as much as you like. Lastly, wireless technology for wired headsets already exists, I’m sure someone, maybe even Sony, will release an accessory once the technology is good enough.
@@Llamu agreed, people rave about the Quest 2 for being wireless, which is obviously a great entry level VR headset but never mention how the VR games have had to dumb down to accomodate the mobile phone chip inside it. PSVR2 isn't going for 'entry level' VR, it is going to be for high end games and it rivals high end PC VR which cost over £1000 (before even buying a PC)
@@mattchamp_87 Wireless Headsets like the Quest 2 (which I do actually own) also have a limited run time because they need an on-board battery for power, which adds weight and when you add a battery pack to extend play time the headset gets even heavier affecting overall comfort. The low weight of the PSVR2 along with the "halo" headband design will definitely make longer VR play sessions a lot more comfortable.
When I got the first PSVR, it was the most affordable option for a good VR experience with an awesome library. Now, with the PSVR2, I think it is a great option once again. If you want the same experience on PC that the PSVR2 can offer, you have to spend a lot more than $550, so I think it's a good deal, even for those who don't have a PS5 yet.
Psvr 1 price was actually more expensive, $399 for the psvr $60 for camera controls $100 = $560 so I really do not know why people are going on about the price.
Could also compare it to the industry leaders... the Quest 2 and the Pico 4. PSVR2 has OLED, Quest 2 and Pico 4 do not. Quest 2 can only do a maximum of 100 nits. PSVR2 has better resolution than the Quest 2, and a better refresh rate than the Pico 4... not to mention the larger field of view than both, has eye tracking, haptics and adaptive triggers. And the PSVR2 will likely have a good build quality, unlike the Quest 2 and Pico 4.
Maybe go into the benefits the wire brings. There's a reason the PSVR2 is going to be a game charger and is a step above all other headsets and it's in part to the wire. Not gonna get what it offers without it unless you want a very heavy object on your face
I’m not even going to bother watching the rest of your video. Almost every comment on the first page is calling you out for lying about the price. Let me guess, next you’re going to say how much better the quest is with it’s RE4 graphics that look like ps2… Look at RE Villiage.
Was skeptical at first but they made the improvements I was hoping they would make from the original psvr. Pre ordered mine last month. Now if Sony gives it the right amount of support it will be a great addition to the ps5
It's a huge upgrade over PSVR1...But i hope they release a Revised/Version 2 in early Q1 2026 with a wireless to PS5 connection, flatter front Visor, Ringless VR Controllers with slightly better motion tracking and maybe include a QD-OLED display instead of regular OLED. It's too bad though that PSVR2 is limited by the PS5's resolution aka 2k per eye from 4K. Because Meta and Apple will be able go beyond that(Quest 3 is already slightly higher). We'll probably get a Quest 4 in 3 years after Q3 launches, and that thing will easily surpass PSVR2 in resolution simply because it isn't limited by the power of a console, it's its own thing since it's an all inclusive headset.
I heard Sony already has over 90 games for PSVR2 that are either ready on launch or in development (officially that is) so that's a promising launch/first year. Hopefully they'll get some of their top studios (Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Bungie just to name some) to develop games for it so they can appeal to the masses that are on the fence on whether or not try VR.
can’t wait pre ordered mine a few weeks ago, the meta 2 really got me into it and showed me how fun VR is, been having a blast on contractors so if anyone plays none of my friends have a headset so i’m down to get on
Your claime of HUGE price increase is a HUGE MISTAKE and incorrect research. On top of that you mentioned PSVR2 price in all three currencies including 599 euros but PSVR1 you only stated 349 pounds to give the incorrrct perception of price difference. PsVR1 was not functional without PS CAMERA and MOVE controllers. Altogether it cost 560 atleast. PsVR2 costs 550 and has the cameras built in and controller included in box. It is actually cheaper than PSVR1 and if you count inflation than it is even more cheaper. You need to clarify your points as a pinned comment so that your false assertion does not mislead your viewers
Thumbed down and stopped watching for lying about there being a huge price hike, when in reality they are practically the same exact price, only you are getting FAR better tech with PSVR2. If you can not be arsed to do your research, then don't expect me to waste my time watching.
Lazy journalism. The price details, psvr1 came without controllers and camera, all had to be purchased in addition, the price is pretty even. The cable, "shame they couldn't go wireless like Quest", perhaps you should explain why this is the case, i.e., the quality and potential performance of PSVR2 games will be far superior being powered by the PS5 instead of a mobile chipset. If you're going to do it, do it right
Not to mention, replicating something like what the Wii U did is hardware taxing. It would reduce the fidelity on every level just to be wireless. And even with the Quest 2, you still need to plug into a PC if you want to play more ambitious VR games.
Cool 😎 I was able to get the horizon bundle as well was talking with other gamers I know and one of them say could you imagine a God of War ragnarok version for the psvr2🤔
You also mentioned that it is unfortunate that PSVR2 cant replicate Quest 2s wireless capabilities. You however forgot to mention why it is not doing that. Replicating the wireless capabilities would also mean replicating the shit quality games. By having this 1 wire we will be getting ps5 quality games!!!
@AzaiaMonota that is incorrect. Re8 demo is running better than the ps5 version and the key reason behind this is foveated rendering and eye tracking. This allows rendering of area being viewed saving processing power. You can look into capcom playstation blogpost when re8 village was announced for psvr2
@AzaiaMonota are you stupid? I just clearly explained you the re8 village PSVR2 VERSION runs much better in terms of graphics and framerate than the PS5 version. Your statement that PSVR2 will have half the quality of ps5 is false and totally inaccurate. Please do some research
@@waleedisnowagamecatspecifi1499 foveated rendering is literally it slashing the graphics in half or more it is not rendering the full frame at any given time they are literally downgrading it so it only looks good in the center of your vison so they can hit the required fps that the VR needs they have to use foveated rendering because they have to render the game twice
psvr1 $399 +$60 for camara required and $100 for move controllers that's $560 psvr2 $550 if you think that is a price hike especially considering inflation that i haven't accounted for you must be tripping. even meta 2 260gb + elite head strap is also $560. if your talking psvr1 price now then obviously its cheaper as it one of the oldest most outdated vr devices still supported.
I’M SICK OFF ALL THIS MISS INFORMATION. PSVR 2 is well worth the price and here’s why. The original PSVR was $400 at launch, which would be $470 today with inflation and that was for the headset only. You then had to buy the camera and move controllers separately, the camera was a further $50 and the move controllers were a further $100 for a pair, taking the price of the full package to $550. Therefore; making the price around $635 today when you included inflation, which actually makes PSVR 2 around $85 cheaper than its predecessor. Plus, when the original PSVR launched, it was pretty weak specs wise when compared to its PC counterparts, whereas the PSVR 2 is genuinely a state of the art headset, with eye tracking, 4k HDR OLED lenses and haptic feedback in the headset, plus the controllers are also state of the art, with haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and finger touch recognition. PSVR 2’s biggest competition, i.e. the Meta Quest 2 has none of those features and is nowhere near powerful enough to compete with PSVR 2 graphically either and that’s $500 for the 250GB model. Although Meta have released an upgrade, i.e. the Meta Quest Pro, a headset that definitely comes closer to PSVR 2, that headset costs $1500 alone, which is $400 more than both a PS5 and a PSVR 2 headset combined, $500 more if you go for the PS5 digital edition. Plus; although there are VR headsets out there available for PC, which are definitely capable of competing with (and even surpassing) PSVR 2, you would need at least $2000-$3000 for a capable enough PC and then another $1200-$1500 for a high-end headset, most of which don’t have the PSVR 2’s tech currently, i.e. headset haptics, eye tracking and foliated rendering; nor do they have controllers with haptic feedback or adaptive triggers. Therefore; anyone who says PSVR 2 is too expensive, clearly knows very little about the VR market; so if you’re excited about PSVR 2 and are thinking about getting it, don’t let anyone convince you otherwise. The only downside is the lack of backwards compatibility, because in my opinion the original PSVR has one of the best game libraries around, therefore it’s unfortunate that all those games won’t just carry strait over to PSVR 2. Unfortunately this is due to the huge difference in tracking systems. The original PSVR used light tracking, which used an external camera to track the players movements, whereas PSVR 2 uses inside-out tracking, where the cameras are actually built into the handset itself, which tends to be much more accurate. However; many developers have already stated that they want to bring their original PSVR games across to PSVR 2 (hopefully with enhancements) and most of those developers are offering a free upgrade, to anyone who bought their game on the original PSVR, so I would expect nearly all of the best titles to make their way over to the new headset. Plus; the tracking system used in PSVR 2 is now the industry standard, therefore I doubt backwards compatibility will ever be a problem again. I know most people would prefer the headset to be wireless, but in my humble opinion Sony made the right decision going for a single lightweight cable. Had Sony tried to make it a wireless standalone headset like the Quest 2, we’d have very little chance of getting quality games, because Sony would have to mandate that all games work both standalone and connected, meaning developers would have to prioritise a weak mobile chipset. The mobile chipset in the Quest 2 the biggest reason VR games have stagnated, because there just isn’t enough power available to make good AAA quality games, Sony know this which is why they’ve gone with a single cable. They also couldn’t go for a wireless streaming option either, because Sony are a pug and play console company, could you imagine the uproar we’d have, if people bought PSVR 2 home and then found out that they then needed to go out and buy a brand new Wi-Fi 6 router and ensure that they’ve got gigabyte Internet, just to be able to use it. Plus the headset would’ve needed additional components to manufacture, which would have pushed the price up even further, at least another $100-$200 and people are already complaining about the price. VR has come a long way since the original PSVR launched and PSVR 2 is not just a generational leap, it’s more like a three or four times generational leap and it’s priced appropriately for where Sony want it to be, a budget entry into AAA, VR gaming, which is currently only available on PC for thousands of dollars. Plus; Sony have a genuine plan to take VR mainstream this generation, by creating hybrid games and they’ve also made it much easier for other AAA developers to port their existing games into VR. Therefore; we are much more likely to get many more full length AAA games this generation, because developers can sell their games to both the traditional gamers and VR gamers, for the same single development cost.
@@Coxy-b34 You also have to factor in the cost of the PS5 itself, just the console and headset alone will cost you between $950 and $1100 depending on the PS5 model and time and location of purchase and that's before buying any games for it, a Quest 2 is $400-$500
PSVR was a 2016 launch headset set at $399.99 usd with inflation that adds up to $502 usd today, the 2016 PSVR bundle was set at $499.99 with inflation that adds up to $627.41 usd Meaning that yes the 2023 $549.99 PSVR 2.0 is a far better purchase even with its high cost compared to the last gen headset

Let's compare OTHER perphierals costings... just how much does a decent driving wheel cost these days... 400-1000 squid... does THAT value add up? hummm. Just an example.
I prefer the one type C over wireless because it requires the PS5. It helps keep the power and there is less chance of interference plus no battery in the headset to wear out over time
You left out one improvement for the VR2. The VR2 have addressed the headache issue after long use. Apparently in the older VR models there were the headache issue after long use. But now the headache issue have been addressed with the new VR2 techs. This justified the current price.
All these upgrades sound awesome but to me the most important thing has always been games that I can play whilst I sit in my couch ans use a regular PS controller (although new controllers look interesting). My favourite games that I still play since launch are Wipeout, Borderlands 2 VR, and RE7. The longest I played with a move controller was accounting VR over a period of two days.
@@robsmith5434 I totally disagree, I tested fps games with a vive and it's controllers wich seem similar to the new ps controllers and preferred aiming with the headset by far over the move style controllers to aim. But for games like accounting or job simulator I understand the reasons as to why they use move style controller.
@@SkemeKOS Yeah, I'm crazy because I prefer a different control scheme to you. A control scheme that a lot of vr fps games have as the default control scheme. RE7 came with this set up the only thing I had to change was the annoying turn style wich wasn't on smooth, same for BL2VR, Skyrim VR, R.I.G.S., etc... I like to have my hands on my lap whilst holding the controller, I don't like holding them in front of me or wave them around when I'm gaming.
Anyone remember the PlayStation move game? Came with the move controllers and the camera, was released on the PS3. When I got my psvr1 back in the day there was no bundle at the time. Got the other stuff off eBay.
Price hike? Someone seems to be omitting some info. You couldn't do much with the headset, if you already didn't have the camera, or move controllers. That added up to that "starter pack" price. Tsk tsk.
infact seeing as your reporting on a product its amazing to see most of the viewers put more effort into data finding and confirming rumours than this lazy video.
What idiot said that? The opposite is true. Games are more expensive and require more man-hours than ever before to make. 20 years ago, a 50 person dev team was considered large and could release a AAA game in 1-2 years of development time. The average AAA game now has hundreds if not thousands of people working on them and they take 3-4 years to "complete". Do your research, clowns. It's not that hard.
@@dallinferguson994 And then they release broken and filled with microtransactions it hilarious how devs making games in 1-2 years could do a better job than teams 10X the size with 10X the budget and 2-3X the time end up with a worse product
Got that right. I rather pay the higher price for the best product than pay a cheap price for a cheap product. Like they say, you get what you pay for.
The price is currently pretty steep being almost the same price as the PS5 itself, but I would rather pay up for all the high end features and specs than to cut cost for lower specs.
is there a difference in the graphics...playing the game with ps4 connected to ps5 console set with vr2 ? Is the quality on the same level vr ps4. and vr2 ps5 ?
I wonder what will PSVR 3 will look some one day when playstation 6 comes out I wouldn't mind getting the bundle of it I would think it will cost £1000 like the box of the original and PSVR 2 was pretty big
No you’ll still wear glasses but here’s why it’s important. Just copy pasted form another site: Tricking our brains into believing we’re seeing another reality starts by feeding our eyes imagery which closely matches how we perceive the real world. That means making sure the images are correctly aligned with each eye, just like adjusting the width on a pair of binoculars. Since we always see the real world from the perspective of or own IPD, correct alignment in a headset is important for matching our ingrained sense of 3D depth and scale. If the IPD of your headset is incorrectly set, the scale of the virtual world will appear to be slightly incorrect. Even if a given headset doesn’t have a physical IPD adjustment, most headsets have a software IPD adjustment which can correct the sense of scale. In both cases you’ll need to know your own IPD measurement to set this properly. Setting the correct IPD is also very important for maximizing image quality in VR and AR headsets. Most headsets have lenses and displays which are designed to achieve maximum clarity and field of view when seen through the ‘optical center’ of the lens (this is also called the ‘sweet spot’). If the center of your eyes don’t align with the optical center of the lenses, you won’t get that maximum clarity and field of view; depending upon the lens, such misalignment can lead to a surprising reduction in visual quality. Luckily, many headsets have physical IPD adjustments which allow you to change the distance between the lenses to align your eyes with the optical center of the lenses. All major headsets with physical IPD adjustments have digital readouts in millimeters that display inside the headset which you can use to match to your own IPD. In summary, knowing your IPD and setting it correctly is important for achieving the best visual experience and comfort in any headset. And if your measured IPD is an outlier, you should make sure your headset of choice can accommodate your IPD; a headset with a physical IPD adjustment will support a much wider range of IPD measurements.
I might consider this upgrade, just for the less wires. My PSVR1 was fun, but setting it up was a bit of a hassle. I'm hoping it's backwards compatible with the last gen games.
No backwards compatibility unfortunately however on the flip side certain games are getting free and paid upgrades to make them playable on the PSVR2. Hopefully we’ll see the best versions of many of the PSVR titles the way the developers originally intended.

Everyone's defending psvr2 but. The thing is. 50% of the people that are watching this already owned or tested the psvr one. So the question is, why should the average consumer pay another 500€ when they already owned or still own (like me) the first generation? Sure, it's not even a comparison anymore in my opinion the psvr2 won in every aspect, except in time. Now is not the time. I already have a ps5 and fun with that. I'd rather buy another quest 2 than a psvr 2. Back then, OKEY, ps4 and one of the first actually affordable VR headsets (beside the quest 1) so yeah ofc I bought the first psvr. It was magic back then. But now with the quest 2, priced at about 300€, why should I throw out another 600€ for a headset thats cabled, not transportable, only in combination with another 600€ console. Nah, spare me with that, I'd rather buy the expensive steam deck. I wish I could try and own the psvr2 but now's not the time.. not for me at least. I'll prop buy it on black Friday, a few years from now. I always do that with cool stuff, 3 years after release for almost the same price, just 2 year before the release of a better version and I hate it but man, what am I supposed to do....
The new PlayStation headset is much too expensive - even those with huge amounts of disposable income should think before supporting it. Very odd decision to make it cost so much, when the PS5 itself was extremely reasonably priced.

At that resolution, there shouldn’t be any visible pixels or screen door effect. It is a higher resolution than the Quest 2 and that isn’t really an issue on the Quest.
PSVR2 has 4Megapixels per eye vs the 1 Megapixel per eye on the PSVR which might give you some idea of the improvement. Another way to look at it is Pixel per degree (horizontal resolution per eye divided by the field of view). PSVR had a 100 degree of field of view and a horizontal res of 960 giving a ppd of 9.6. PSVR has a wider field of view but much higher horizontal res 2000/110 giving a ppd of 18.18. Technically the Quest 2 actually also has a higher PPD (20.5) thanks to its lower Fov, but many of its games don't run at full resolution in standalone mode, and have reduced resolution/video compression issues when running off a PC. Also, lower FoV really sucks in VR. It gives you the impression vou're looking through eye holes in a mask, or ski-goggles.

Think the technology is now where it needs to be so all that matters are it's games which Sony have been pretty successful with so far

Dude. Pricing is virtually the same. Like. Exactly lol. Between inflation and the move/camera bundle. Get it right
I kinda want it…it has all the upgraded features to make it another great product!
Oh cool! Didn't know about that Anti-Fogging Feature! This was always a major Problem for me as a Glasses-Wearer on PSVR1.
It is only $50 difference. You get the full package for the psvr2, unlike the $400 psvr1

Actually you will be getting half the quality of the PS5 because VR has to render the game twice one for each eye
@AzaiaMonota that is incorrect. Re8 demo is running better than the ps5 version and the key reason behind this is foveated rendering and eye tracking. psvr2 $550
if you think that is a price hike especially considering inflation that i haven't accounted for you must be tripping.
even meta 2 260gb + elite head strap is also $560.
if your talking psvr1 price now then obviously its cheaper as it one of the oldest most outdated vr devices still supported.
The biggest upgrade is the fact that you don’t have to use those outdated ps move controllers anymore. I hated those things

Does IPD mean people with glasses won’t need glasses while wearing the headset?
No you’ll still wear glasses but here’s why it’s important. Just copy pasted form another site:
Tricking our brains into believing we’re seeing another reality starts by feeding our eyes imagery which closely matches how we perceive the real world.
I just wish it was backwards compatible
I might consider this upgrade, just for the less wires. My PSVR1 was fun, but setting it up was a bit of a hassle. I'm hoping it's backwards compatible with the last gen games.
No backwards compatibility unfortunately however on the flip side certain games are getting free and paid upgrades to make them playable on the PSVR2. Hopefully we’ll see the best versions of many of the PSVR titles the way the developers originally intended.

At that resolution, there shouldn’t be any visible pixels or screen door effect. It is a higher resolution than the Quest 2 and that isn’t really an issue on the Quest.
Thanks mate, it’s really helpful info
VR is still trash.
Not if you play on PC but on console yeah it's trash
