    I have a spare set of headlights that are less bad, but still rock chipped...I'd give em to ya for shipping cost. As for your Speedometer, its functioning correctly. When the dashboard was facelifted in 1987, they also updated the electronics to match up with the new MPFI 2.8L engine, so the speedometer is actually a VSS sensor and just a gauge instead of a speedometer drive gear, and cable going into the back of the cluster. That's why it jumps to attention with the key on. As for the lights, burned out bulbs. The MAF sensors on these are worthless, most were disabled by dealers at a later point. Look for the MAP sensor, and check to make sure it's getting good vacuum and works. It will be either on the back side of the intake, or hiding on the firewall behind the right side strut tower. It has both MAF and MAP. Both need to be working. The transmission is tired, but it'll work for awhile. Change the fluid, dump some lucas trans gum in with the new fluid and it'll buy you time.

      @KnuckleHeadGarage27  4 года назад +1

      Hmm any way can send me pictures of them on Facebook so could see them ? . Yeah okay good to know that the cluster is good and so far now it's been working good . yes the mass air flow sensors are notorious on these vehicles I cleaned it really good and it's been perfect and the throttle body and throttle position sensor just went out right after the video the next day and so I replaced both of them and now the vehicle shifts so much better and idles and gets up and goes way better now . The throttle body had bad play in the shaft and the sensor was causing my idle to be at 3,000 rpm and not come down and causing my trans to slam or shift werid. So now it's prefect like it should be

    • @KnuckleHeadGarage27
      @KnuckleHeadGarage27  4 года назад +1

      Yeah I'll check the map sensor to make sure that's good too . I had to replace the cradle bushing on passenger side it was gone completely so that's why I had so much under steer and wasn't handling right , so i replaced that with a junkyard one so it's all good now and so far my front end alignment is good now . Umm yeah the trans fluid is dirty looking um also one side of the dip stick shows the fluid is low and other side showes full and I've never ever seen that before on any vehicles I've worked on so is it really low or full ? That's werid to me .

    Also, run this engine for awhile, run it till it craps out. While you use it, go find yourself the identical looking MPFI 3.1L from any other car that has it. Doesn't even have to be a Celebrity. When this engine breaks, it's a drop in plug and play upgrade! It's actually not that hard to replace the engines in these. Less work then doing the timing chain in chassis. Any news parts you install on this engine can be used on your new and more powerful 3.1L upgrade. Very win win. I'm looking for a very low miles 3.1L for my own Eurosport, and you know how mine is.

      @@KnuckleHeadGarage27 at least you got a newer one. I like the looks of the newer style better. The tail lights and flush headlights look better with the smaller grille. You should get the celebrity badges for the front fenders like your 85 had and maybe go back to the chrome wheel covers after its done so it has a bit of the 84- 86 style. But overall I'm happy you found one! They're not so easy to come by anymore. Can't wait to see it restored bet you'll have the nicest one around once its done

    I have this car but it 1989, engine stalls at some point, tryed almost everything, now radiator cap started leaking, and i see that radiator tubes are clogged, that may be the problem, trying to restore it like you, car is sitting, even OBD-1 cable with software shows no error codes, only RPM drop from 1000 to 750-650, done many things, but 4-5 years of self searching no luck, there are many others on the internet who have similar o the same problems, but not many are solved.

      Yeah I thought about changing the front clip to a 85 model if I ever found one an or in good condition but dought I ever would .
      Yeah i wish this one had the HO 2.8 but those are rare I seen one at junkyard . This engine in this car is tired an was definitely neglected for oil changes very so much buildup on the inside of the valve cover an high miles . Compared to my 90 Lumina 3.1 the inside of it is like bran new I've never ever seen one so dang clean like that one .

      It sucks after all that work the transmission slips in the celeb from 1st to 2nd gear when hot especially so it's a good thing I really have a good engine and transmission out of another vehicle to use . Very hard to find these styles anymore all I see now is 3100 an 3400 an 3800

  • @alien948

    Don't chrome the trim for all that is holy.... Eurosports had all the trim blacked out on purpose, EXCEPT the front and rear bumpers(though they too were adorned with black rubber cladding strips); Chrome just didn't fit the more-aggressive character appearance that Eurosports were meant to impart. The old-man non-Eurosport Celebrity CL package gave you a bunch of the chrome trim you seek. Yes Celebrity Eurosports cars were NOT high-performance by any stretch of the imagination, although the suspension, rim/tire set-up did offer fairly competent grip at the limit while damping unwanted body roll to a minimum(without bone-jarring stiffness). This at least resulted in a mid-sized car that was fun to toss around, and with the more-aggressive exhaust note from the single pipe exhaust exiting thru a dual-tipped muffler; the MPFI 2.8 V6 had a rich, deep, throaty sound that was unmatched in the industry by competitors. I'm sure plenty of people remember the unique sound of 1980's/early 90's GM 60 degree V6's- they really sounded like they would just rip if you mashed the throttle; but again, the exhaust note was misleading, as 135hp wasn't exactly in Hellcat territory... One more thing- Celebrity Eurosport CL interiors were covered in this plush velour that looked and felt rather expensive. All Celebrity's in CL trim got this Velour interior- and it really was all that. I have fond memories of these- my dad leased an 86' Eurosport CL completely loaded with every option for 4 years. This 86' had the 2.8 MPFI H.O., and the only trouble it ever had was in the first 6 months of ownership: the fuel injection would cause the car to stall at idle sometimes: the dealer couldn't find anything really wrong, but did replace the ECU, fuel pump, and the fuel injectors. Problem persisted, and GM had a regional rep get involved. The determination was 87 octane wasn't great for this particular setup, and the solution was to use premium fuel 92 oct or higher... The car never got a drop of anything other than Mobil 93 octane after that diagnosis, and likewise the car never stalled ever again. I was busting your balls about chroming the blacked-out trim; carry on.
