Guatemala: At the heart of the Mayan world

Resulting from the mixture between Mayan culture and the culture of the Spanish settlers, Guatemala has retained all its charm and beauty.
Tikal is an ancient capital of a conquering state which was one of the most powerful kingdoms of the ancient Maya.
With the transcription of a long list of kings, most of whose tombs have been discovered, as well as their monumental sculptures, their temples and their palaces, Tikal is one of the best-known Mayan cities.
The site transports us to the rich Mayan past; and the Gran Plaza, the Great Pyramid of the Lost World, or the square of the 7 temples are the opportunity for a journey through time.
Joining Livingston will be the opportunity for a boat trip on the Rio Dulce. The fauna there is impressive and we come across, for example, large pelicans, white and gray egrets, Macaw parrots, eagles, turtles and even iguanas.
Livingston shines with the diversity of its population. Mayans, Indians, Latinos and Garifunas share the streets. Different atmospheres coexist: peaceful and secret alleys, you can reach the more dynamic and lively central artery.
Lake Atitlan, of volcanic origin, offers a splendid landscape. The surrounding villages are still steeped in traditional culture.
The eponymous village is populated mainly by Indians. San Pedro and San Juan, two hamlets surrounding the lake, are extremely popular with travelers for their festive and peaceful atmosphere.
Antigua, known for its Baroque and Renaissance architecture, is a former colonial city, surrounded by the volcanoes of Agua, Fuego and Acatenango.
Holy Week is particularly impressive in this city where processions and flower carpets fill the streets.
