  • Yucatan is a Mexican state that juts out into the Caribbean sea.
From the white sandy beaches of the Maya river to huge green expanses where the site of Calakmul barely emerges from the forest, we take you to visit not only the most prestigious Maya sites but also other lesser-known locations that are just as fascinating.
Spectacular caves, mangroves, and nature reserves... Be prepared to be awed by the décor in which one of America’s most fascinating civilizations flourished.
Extract from the film: "Discovering the world - Yucatan, the Culture is Nature, the Culture is Maya"
    Direction: Pierre Brouwers
    Production: MEDIA 9

This is one of the fortunate countries that have surviving indigenous people. By contrast, in much of the previously colonised world, including most of the Caribbean islands, the indigenes were eradicated by European diseases, by wars, and by slavery.

Luckily, many ancient sites are still not readily visited. Yes, they are slowly eroding away but they stand in silent hidden testimony to the people here so very long ago.

Angers me when the often critize the Spanish colonial traces and in the breathe work hard to preserve it. These building are so beautiful and well made that the give profound loveliness to the city its actually the only reason to go. The out lying building are ghastly and cheaply built that look the same as any other South American cities

Your pronunciation of the Spanish and Mayan names is pretty bad despite the fact you can hear the natives in the background. I would suggest you to work on it.
