I would like to let everyone know that the developers have been pumping out a remarkable amount of hotfixes, literally one a day at this point, and they have ironed out a lot of bugs. Durability has been a point they have been working on, essentially making tools and such have a lot more durability, and they have also been working on the stuttering and lagging problems as well. It's not perfectly fixed yet, but they are being proactive with making the game as good as can be and are actively listening to the community for the fixes.

Dude, 99% of negative stuff about this game can be summed up to "too difficult", "doesn't run on my computer", and "can't rebind buttons".
Played 4 hours so far and yes, I can understand how people will find this hard, but I've died three times and two were fall damage and one was a glitch. Am I going to say "just get good, noobs"? No. I will offer help.
Protip: If the game is too difficult you can create a new Realm and farm items in the first location (with your already made character). You can sell for money to buy stuff or craft more healing items.
Protip 2: If you have low health and are near a Cerim Whisper, touch it then remove your gear and die to fall damage and you will return with full health. Full heal without using food.
I tested both of these and they are viable options if you're having trouble with the game. Good luck. This game is AWESOME so far and I cannot wait for full release. I hope they don't make it too easy to appease everyone.

I really like games that are about exploration. Ori was one of these. I love Moon Studio's way of doing the textures, colors, lighting and stuff. Just their general style. The game looks absolutely fantastic. But what's constantly giving me second thoughts about this game is that it's very focussed on fighting rather than just exploring and that it's probably a game that's really hard to beat. I'm usually someone who always plays games 100% so this is a problem for me. If I'm constantly not making progress because it's just too hard, it's not gonna be fun. That's the thing. I really don't want it to feel like Elden Ring. Neither do I just want to run through it. It should be challenging, but it shouldn't punish dying when dying is what makes the player learn. You can make a game challenging in different ways. Not bosses you need 2 hours to beat. But building secrets into the world, puzzlesolving and stuff.
That's obviously not what the game is about. So I'll most likely have to pass on this one and wait for their next game.

One of the biggest problems I've seen with people who try to create their own soulslike is that they focus more on trying to make things difficult rather than try to make things fair
Darksouls games and bloodborne are difficult but the catch is that the build you make is meant to help compensate stats with skill
If you're a big tanking beast you can sit there and eat a hit or two then trade blows and if you're a light build you can get in and out while attacking and evading
After that the boss may have giant swings or continous attacks but you have a brain and infinite retries to help you identify the pattern and match your style to their rhythm
But thats where the problem occurs as many recent games have focused on trying to make you suffer needlessly
A game I played called soldiers had this issue where it gave you limited dodges that had a 1 second cooldown but bosses that would have continous attack patterns, it gave a block but gave the boss a form of repeating super attacks and the craziest thing was it gave a mage and archer attacks with limited range on their attacks meaning they had to get into near melee range to attack which defeats the point of the class system
All I'm getting at is that gamers like a challenge we like increased difficulty but the difficulty shouldn't come due to a restriction on your character that the boss is meant to exploit
It should come at the method by which the player aims to challenge the problem. Make the difficulty come as a true test of skill not as some boulder that needs to be pushed up a mountain only to be brought down again

For half the price of a regular AAA game, I'm all in with this purchase. I got both Ori versions on my PC, Switch, and PS5, and I keep coming back to play. They really get what gaming's about. A lot of the real and fair problems with the game is now fixed. Durability is not an issue anymore you can probably die 20 times now before repair and chop down like 20-30 trees/ veins etc before repair. You are already very very good at combat. But you are actually not exploring much. And therefore super underleveled. After 1st boss you will have 5 zones and some of the zone will have enemies you can farm. It’s not like Elden ring but you can still farm xp. Some areas will always have enemies. Upgrade and enchant/ infuse gear. Get 1or 2 health regen items or the health leach ring. Game becomes easy. So one thing that people were hating alot (early on, but they buffed it significantly, really quickly) was the durability. But even without buffing it, all you needed (then) was to add the (repair) rune on a 2nd or 3rd main hand. Build up 150 focus, swap to it, repair and Voila. Now though after all the durability buffs, that rune is sort of obsolete to me. You have to repair very seldomly, and when you need to repair it only cost like 40-60copper (I remember before the first buff to durability I needed to spend well over 2silver to repair everything!!!)
So yeah, the devs have been quite actively making adjustments. Can't wait for more of the story to be unfolded, and to see what's next cuz right now it's like if you were to start Path of Exile, and play through act 1 and only act 1. So much more to uncover.

Damn. I really hope they remove or nerf the weapon durabilty system, and change the healing system too. From what I understand, all healing is consuables and you need to cook meals for better healing like in breath of the wild. I agree that one of the worst things that can happen in a game like this is to be fighting a good boss, and then you have to leave to go farm heals and repair everything. That just doesn't gel with a challeging action game where you're going to die a lot.
I was excited for this game, but unless they change those 2 systems, I just don't see myself getting it. Otherwise it looks really cool.

It's V-rising meets Elden ring if you ask me. Its tricky at the start. The first hour can be rough (I debated refunding) but glad I stuck around. Combat is weighty and satisfying, enemies can feel unfair at the start but once you work out parries and dodging to expose critical backstabs it becomes a lot easier. I'm currently level 17 and so far I can trivialise most mobs. Definitely some things to fix (no option to respec. certain materials don't drop often enough).

    • @PsychoRavager
      @PsychoRavager 8 месяцев назад +1

@@DefinitelyNotBender, you're the one that doesn't seem to understand the very definition of the word. Anything that won't age in a particular sense (in this case, art direction and overall visual style) can be considered "timeless" whether it is new, somewhat relatively current, or older. For example, a lot of PS2 and even PS1 classics have that charm due to the limitations of the hardware back in the day. With a new game like this, it's the combination of a gritty feel along with the cartoony (not derogatory and not out of place at all) proportions, shading, and so on that will help this game live on within that context because it's not trying too hard to be realistic. Try reading any reliable dictionary and talking to people that aren't part of whatever echo chambers you're stuck under next time. Oh, and my day job is that of a digital illustrator in the indie art space/industry. So, it's quite important for me to know what good, unique art styles will live longer than others. Hopefully, no one craps on your meal, again, in the future so you don't start off your responses with insults disguised as supposed well-meaning assumptions.

When it comes to the Durability mechanic I kinda wish developers would lean into it to try and encourage players to use different weapons and thereby different moves and playstyles.
For example, there are some games that will drop many different weapons that will do different things. That can be fun.
However I’ve seen games that have such a thing in place yet have weapons with weapons that have stats and just get better.
Which forces a player to be picky about what weapons they’d wanna pick up thereby conflicting with the want of the dev to have the player pick up and use different weapons.
What I think would be neat to see would be a game that did have a durability system BUT when something broke you could take the pieces of said weapon and hold onto them that later on you can make a different weapon of the broken pieces.
Like for example take a broken handle of a axe, the broken end of a hammer and then craft a weapon from it.
And you could even attach stats to those broken pieces. Like say the handle gave an attack speed of say maybe 3. But the axe that was on the handle only did maybe 20 dmg. Well, adding the hammer end gives 30 dmg and you can add the handle.
Further, you could also make it so that when things break you will probably NOT get back pieces. Like say the Axe head that came with the handle? That axe got demolished somehow and all you have is the handle.
And further, any broken pieces you don’t really use could also probably be used to reinforce or add minor stat increases to weapons you’ve been crafting.
There is a lot I feel devs could do with the durability mechanic but I suppose maybe the right game hasn’t come alone yet.
I feel the idea I suggested is really meant for folks who not only wanna try different weapons but also appreciate crafting and just getting better weapons. As well as being big hoarders of items.
Which admittedly is actually a lot of players all in one idea.

"flaws" and "tedious" were very prominently said in this video. What I heard was that the experience that Jake is looking to be tailored to requires more guidance for him personally. I feel like a lot from what I played is intentional. Obviously, there will be and should be more fine tuning in certain areas, but nothing that Jake really said. Inventory management is a big fix they need to work on for example. I never ran into issues with weapon degradation(if anything it was tool degradation). I hope that they don't over tweak anything and make the game a breeze. It already seems like if you grind through dailys and weekly quests, you can over level a bit.

My biggest gripe is how tedious everything is right now. All the weapons feel a little too samey. The weight system is brutal in the early game. Everything weighs a little too much so you can't really wear / use what you want or equip the gear you want. The first town you encounter is a maze and a huge pain in the ass to figure out. There's just too much I don't like at the start. I'm hoping it gets a bit better.

I know you want Before You Buys out as soon as, but man I wish this could have waited a few days. It's worth saying a lot of the balancing issues you mentioned Moon have already sorted or are well on their way to be (e.g. weapon durability). I agree the game looks stunning and has a lot of potential. In terms of performance, I think it's more the game hasn't been optimised for higher end hardware.
A few things I didn't agree with. I feel enemy attacks are telegraphed plenty when you really watch them and learn their attack patterns. Fighting multiple enemies does feel a bit unfair, but then 3 against 1 should feel that way with souls-like combat IMO. Maybe I misinterpretted what you meant there. I also find the fact climbing walls and shimmy ledges are less obvious quite refreshing when normally in games they're highlighted a little too much. It makes exploration just a tad more challenging. Upgrading the 'Equip load' attribute helps massively with wearing stronger and heavier gear too.
All in all, I am enjoying my time with this. Haven't experienced many performance issues at all (just a couple minor frame rate drops here and there). I look forward to their future updates and content 😁

Protip 2: If you have low health and are near a Cerim Whisper, touch it then remove your gear and die to fall damage and you will return with full health. Full heal without using food.
I tested both of these and they are viable options if you're having trouble with the game. Good luck.

@@mrfirestar9604 Just a heads up, and not trying to boast, but I haven't actually died other than fall damage so I didn't need to do this. Now that I'm thinking about it, you should know that I spawned on the beach and then just went back to my Realm. I just ASSUMED everything (herbs) spawned since it's a new world. Maybe I should've checked. I was only checking if it was possible to bring old character. Busy though so I'll check later, or tell me if you check. Ty

So many developers don’t understand the difference between difficult “for the right reasons” and difficult “for the wrong reasons.” Players (typically kids in their 20s) don’t understand that just because a game is difficult, it doesn’t mean it’s good. Lies of P is the epitome of that. The developers tried to copy Bloodborne, Sekiro, etc. too much and failed miserably at the balancing of the game to please the “git gud” crowd. Leave “Souls” games to FromSoftware. Games are suffering from poor balancing and rushed deadlines so much nowadays that it is killing the industry. I’m glad Moon Studios is fixing things.

Durability and food crafting is not tedious. This game wants you to backtrack areas with the bounty quests it gives it wants you to collect stuff while doing that and if you just do that (which is just playing the game, doing quests) you will have more than enough recourses. Crafting is a part of this game you even build crafting stations in your house and produce stuff. The game is a mix of dark souls combat, diablo loot and item system and, survival crafting elements. Some people always try to make games something they are not trying to be and this game is not trying to be a straight up souls like if you expect it to be that way you will be disappointed. The game does have its own problems but durability and food crafting is not one of them. Those mechanics are there to make you care about your gear and be prepared to face enemies not just throw yourself against them without thinking about it like in other games.
