    Recently, I have become jaded w/regard to motor racing. The reason, predominately, is due to the announcers being boring in their commentaries. What a total surprise I just had watching 2 Grooved Slick videos. The intimacy that you bring to the race is both compelling and entertaining. The 992 is a very wired car. At nurburgring it broke a driveshaft, at daytona it was almost a moving chichane on the banks and at bathurst it was the definition of wiping the floor with the competition.

  • @troyheffernan1261
    @troyheffernan1261 4 месяца назад

    I've raced daytona on superbike. The problem isn't with the car. It's the balls on the men who won't go to the top of the wall in turn. 2. High on turn 3 and middle and then high coming out of turn 4. This driver played low all day long. Typical of those who fear the height. Down low the pavement is rough and abusive to tires and suspension. The asphalt at daytona drifts dowward and ripples at the bottom. Up top its smooth. Look at the pro drivers blasting pass, up high passing other drivers high on the wall. That's the fastest part of the track. Also when a competitor is loosing traction they tend to drift wide. Don't pass on the outside when their tires go. Look what happened to the lexus driver that crashed out. That's why he was holding his helmet. He knew better.
    These are the things that go in a 24 hour race.
    Breaks, tires, oil suspension. The fluid in the suspension will get hot and cause you to eat tires. That's one of the reasons you don't exercise the suspension on the rough part of the track down low at daytona, Rockingham, talladega or any place that has a steep wall. You apex and allow the cool air to enter your radiator to keep your engine cool. Drafting should be done at passing. Hugging the corners eats tires to much and causes them to chunk. At the end of the day, the car with the cooler engine and saved suspension will win the race. It eats less tires and the engine remains strong in 24 hour races. Loved the video. Fire the drivers. Get a pro driver. If I can hit speeds of 199 mph on a 771cc / 1mm over bore of a 750 Suzuki superbike at daytona up high on the wall coming out of turn 2, then this driver can get up high too.

  • @kimwarfield1587

    Daytona is nothing like LeMans. LeMans is 8.3 or 8.4 miles long. It is a street course and has more turns. The tracks don’t compare at all.
    I do agree the Vette looks good. I had an 84’ Vette. After owning and driving one I’ll never own another Chevy. They have done really well in endurance racing.

    • @John_Redcorn_

    • @kimwarfield1587
      @kimwarfield1587 6 месяцев назад

      @@John_Redcorn_ no they don’t. I say again, a 2 or 3 mile track does not compare with 8.3 or 8.4 miles that is a mixed circuit. Daytona has banking and Le Mans doesn’t. Unless you have never driven or raced you should know these things; it’s elementary.

    • @John_Redcorn_
      @John_Redcorn_ 6 месяцев назад

      @@kimwarfield1587 the banked sections at daytona are high speed sections just like straights at le mans. High horsepower and low drag cars will have an advantage here. The total distance of a course does not matter; its the *elements* of the course. Daytona only has banking in the two high speed sections and its irrelevant in this race, as these cars make enough downforce to not really need the banking. The banking is there because its part of the normal nascar oval course. Its flat everywhere else
