While I agree that family comes first, there are many roles that these people could play while in the military. Less than 20% of conscripts in the Ukrainian army are in combat roles. It is a real fact that they are afraid and use family as an excuse. They don't care about their country or about their families, just about themselves.
In a war, family does not come first. In the US you can get drafted if you have children.

A lot of these folks emigrated from Ukraine years ago. They made a decision to live their lives elsewhere for various reasons. Now they are demanded to go back, fight and quite possibly die for the very country they had chosen to leave. Many no longer have their families there and therefore have much reduced emotional connection to their country of origin. I don’t blame them for prioritizing their own children and don’t consider them draft dodgers. Those are the ones who are actually in Ukraine and refuse to defend the very country they live in.

During the Vietnam war era, my mother promised me that she would help me get to Canada to avoid the draft. I probably would have gone. I see this existential battle for Ukraine as being different, evading the draft is helping the invader.
That's a fair perspective. Not all wars are the same, nor is each side in the war fighting for the same thing. For Ukraine, it's like for the Vietnamese back then, not like for the Americans.

Move Ukrainian families back to live in west Ukraine. The gov. and the west should help to set up new critical infrastructure and manufactures in west Ukraine to boost up Ukraine’s self reliance. Ukraine needs man power to build up economy. For fighting age men, it’s illegal and immoral to evade draft when the country is fighting for survival.
Yeah and this is where European countries could move Patriot Batteries into that area to protect those who return home. The Patriot Batteries could be manned by the personal of the country who own the air defence weapons so there would be no need to spend vital time training Ukrainians on them at this time. Or maybe that man and his 19 year old son could volunteer to be trained on Patriots. That way he can have his immediate family safe in the west and protect them at the same time. He was big on family wasn't he but where are his and his partner's parents living? Are they not family worthy of his "protection?"
Expecially when Ukrainian women are fighting
Other men (and women!) have had to leave their families. Someone else will have to take his place... it's ugly and an awful position to be in, but what option is there other than going to war? Will they be welcomed when the war is over and they return home having avoided a responsibility other people had to shoulder?
Let the sons of the Oligarchs be the first to go to the front......THEN, they can ask the common man......

If they don’t go fight it will never be over don’t they understand that.
Zelensky will be recognize as leader who sacrificed his own citizen for NATO,s interest..
Do you know it was Russians who crossed the border first? Do you think parents shall sit at basements when armed ppl from other countries come to shoot them and their children? What do you think about raped Ukrainian women? Shall their children in trenches also give up their weapons and let invading forces rape them too?
Go fight for your country. That's your duty.
why do only men have duties? while women have as the same rights as men have.
@@blckmb Women don't have the same "rights" as you call them, as men. They aren't men and never will be men.
Duty for what?
Make rich men even richer?
And loose only life? Use brain
Make rich people go first. Stop being a foolish pawn in this rich man's world
No it's not. Why should they die for someone elses interests ? When that someone is safely in a bunker and not on the front lines ? Why should children fight, when Klichko's children are safe in genrmany ?
“How can you leave your people who are trying to send you to your death who are also stranger to you behind?”
Fixed that for ya’ll. Don’t thank me.
He is smart. Why would he fight NATO's war?
time to fight back
People don't want to fight, how can that be a problem? They will return when everything is over, like they supposed to do.
Who wants to fight also can't be stopped, the front is open for a fresh meat.
People have own interests, benefit of media, government, warmongers is not their priority.
After all, probably most of Ukrainian people wait for Russians to win, wish that with all their hearts. We should be honest about that
Perhaps no most, but certainly a lot.......
One of the parents should return. They cannot explain away their betrayal with excuses of family or morals or religion. If this were a political fight one could argue that they dont believe in the reasons for fighting but this is an existential fight.
Their reasons for not fighting are the same as the reason others choose to fight. Why are they better or their circumstances any different to those who are fighting?
They will not get a warm reaction if and when they do return. I empathise with their fear but it's the same for everyone.
I hope they get second class treatment if they sit the war out and that the fighters get privileged status. I hope they don’t benefit in any way from the fact that they stayed safe, when Ukraine is victorious and the rebuilding begins.
Then stop asking us to give you stuff your not willing to step up
Is not up to no one to judge. Family is too precious. I'm sure he miss home, he doesn't hate his country. God bless and protect his family and the entire Ukranian diaspora waiting for this hell to end. 🙏🏻🇺🇦
Stay strong Ukraine! Never give up! Sisu! Viking prayer from old vet!

Mean use people like slaves? Who are you telling this to?
@@ForhumanrightsyesSince he said "Ukraine", im guessing to Ukranians...
@@nicolasoltonor maybe to zelensky same as putin. russia and ukraine must never give up and continue genocide own population in this region by this endless endless war.......? That's view so to ukrainians and russians.
What a difference with Israel. After the massacre, thousands of men went asap to aid their country. Still, we need to aid both Israel and Ukraine, because both are fighting for us also.
I called them deserters at first, now i strongly regret it
Maybe instead of wasting time trying to get expats back, they should start drafting people under 25.
And who next if russia have more resources. It's calling support genocide. Open border people and give to all choice. Because How long will be genocide of on territory of Ukraine. Who have rights holding people against will in Ukraine for sacrifice to putin. It's calling nazi or fascism. zelensky agent of kremlin
There are demographic reasons to consider when you draft below 25. Many are still at university. There could be exemptions for certain situations. However there seems to be reports of a new wave of volonteers that have been joining this spring, so it may not be necessary.
I think its difficult for us armchair warriors to fully appreciate the difficult choices this man had/has to make. Patriotism is nice, family comes first, and as I have observed many Ukrainians are connected by family to Russia and vica versa . This war is a Civil War. Tragedy for all concerned except The EU and USA.
As a father, if I had to choose between flag and family I would choose my family. If that means I can never go back then so be it. The government of Ukraine is totally corrupt and gives soldiers 2 weeks training before sending them to be massacred, why should I throw my one life away for such people?
Most would choose their family. Just not for the reasons you stated.
It's your country and it's your duty to fix it. So if it's corrupt you need to run for office and change it.
Corruption is the key to the conflict. The invader is more corrupt than Ukraine, does that change the equation for you?
While i agree that family is the most important, the rest of what you stated is untrue. Ukraine has made progress in reducing corruption, and Zelensky is leading Ukraine in the right direction. Much of the corruption is a result of Russian meddling within Ukraine as well. Ukraine will be a great nation if they succeed in taking back their lands. They deserve our support.
I see a lot of Ukrainian in Winnipeg why don’t they fight they instead drive Uber.
Listen my friend, never never never never go to war. Never never. That was my biggest mistake in my lige by far. Just see Croatina MP and president. Never go back, ficcck the pasport and what they say. Never never go back.
I have an almost pathological lack of sympathy. I met a Ukrainian draft dodger in the United States. He was weak and a punk. He whined about how America was so unfair to him. It's complicated, but I admit I had an irrationally strong dislike for him. I think we may have "crossed paths" previously in 2022 when I was headed east across Ukraine toward the Donbas and he was running west like a weasel towards the home I left.

Zelenski talking about morals is a joke
Run along and collect your roubles.
God and family always first. It is easier to fight and kill than to stand up and say I won't fight. Being called a coward. Names like in elementary school? Please! If one has already made a life in another country, that's their choice.
Why would he want to fight for nazis and American hegemony?
Does not matter what , Russia will win
I'll never wrap my head around why people support dictators.
Stay save. I hope more men flee the babaric draft. I would be the first to flee
So no-one should help you as you would be the first on the lifeboats.
I hope more RUSSIAN MEN flee the barbaric draft. Isn't is true, Russian troll?
These guys do reputational damage to UA, however, hadn't been western hesitation in supporting UA, I believe they would have been much more courageous.
Why is mobilization for men only? Where is gender equality?
Haha that’s true, now feminists are in the kitchen. They also enrolled women and they are in administrative positions and some of them on the frontlines 👍
who cares for their children ? only 1 partner can stay at home , obviously.
@@typxxilps why not men ?

Another Putin bot.
This guy had a place and a people and abandoned them. Now his family has no place. No people. That's the tradeoff.
Given the history of corruption among various Ukrainian leaders and officials over the past three decades, which resulted in the misappropriation of the nation’s wealth and the squandering of numerous opportunities for economic development and strengthening the country, my willingness to lay down my life for Ukraine is conditional. I believe that those who have contributed to this legacy of corruption should be held accountable and, if possible, conscripted to serve on the front lines. Such a measure would not only serve as reparation for their past actions but also demonstrate a commitment to the nation’s future. Only with this level of accountability and shared sacrifice can we begin to rebuild trust and unity within the country.
Are you talking about a country that will no longer exist if it loses to Russia? Will you fix it then?
@@tombeers3489 I know. It's a real dilemma.
